Yeah but quina sounds mor like a girl name. oh well i guess well never know.
I would've used quina, but by the time i found out how good she(or he) was, i was already too far into the game.

I spent 8 hours going in an out of the auction room waiting for exaclibur to be put up, and nothing...
I've beaten Ruby Weapon and Emerald weapon, both easy.
My tip for beating Ruby:
Equip W-Summon, and make sure you have the Knights Of The Round Materia, and for the love of God cast to your heart's content, KOR usually does on average 125,000 per throw, so it's probbably the strongest summon available in the game.
If all your hits do not take 9999 off Ruby you might as well give up.
All in all it's not actually that hard, well, as hard as people make it :p
Well no **** man. I think everyone else is talking about without KoTR. Of course every single fight is easy with that summon. Hell you can take down Sephiroth in one round with it.

No, fusing the two pieces of pumice gave you Ark. And Ark wasn't crap you could actually play off some very good strategies using Ark. Like when I was fighting the final boss, he would cast that one spell that dropped everyones life to 1. Just summon Ark and make sure you characters had Auto-Regen and Dagger has Boost equipped. By the time the cinematic was over your characters had almost full life without any mp wasted on daggers part.

Yeah the final boss from FFIX is supposed to be from FF V
because on the back of the game case you know how it says The crystals are back, well if any of you have played FFV the story Revovles around crystals giving you powers and having to find tham all because they had been spread out throughout the world or something like that, but yeah the end boss is from FFV

Dragon Crest+No Mercy+Thievery (If you've been stealing a lot)+Shock.
=9999 every time,
and you can end the battle in around 8 turns.
absorbs shadow damage so ozma is easy(er)
There are two ways to make Ozma easier:
#1:
Complete the friendly monsters side task, the last friendly monster is a YAN on Vile Island, it can be found in the forrest, watch out however as on the island itself, there are normal Yans, and these bastards have over 20,000 HP, which can be a bit nasty, but anyway, once you have completed the Friendly Monsters task, the YAN gives you the ability to use pyhsical attacks on Ozma,
when fighting Ozma, take some heavy hitters, Steiner, Freya, Armarant, or whoever has levelled up quicker. The fight itself isn't that hard, but beware, Ozma uses shadow damage to heal itself for 9999 every single time, the bottom line: If you do NOT cause 9999 to Ozma each time, the fight is pretty much over before it starts, use heavy skills, like Thievery, Climhazzard, Shock, No Mercy, Dragon Crest, etc.
#2:
Seen as Ozma is a shadow monster, it is incredibly weak against Holy magic, so If you wish, take Eiko and Dagger with you, "What's this about taking Dagger?!" I hear you say? Well, if you have defeated Ark (And trust me, you will have) you will kno wthat he gives you a Pumice peice, but, Ozma isn't the only character who you can get a pumice peice off, use your chocograph (http://www.rpgplace.net/ff9/misc/chocobo.php) and find the Pumice Peice, once you have done this, you should be able to synth the peices together, giving you the mighty Ark summon, as well as this, have Eiko REPEATEDLY cast Holy, non stop, I suppose she could start the battle by casting Carbunkle, but Ozma may use Shadow attacks that will reflect and heal him, on top of Zidane Eiko and Dagger, have a heavy hitter, such as Steiner or Armarant, but make sure you have completed the friendly monsters challenge, or this will be a tough fight.
Good luck...

I stopped for a while, I re-discovered it a while ago though.

you, my friend, are a ff9 master :thumb:
frog drop can do a lot of damage too if you've caught a lot of frogs.
 Thanks.
But seriously, I was always better and understood FF9 more,
you can cause 9999 damage if you've levelled up properly and met the requirements.
I know how these following attacks work and the criteria for them:
Theivery: The ammount of times you have stole from an enemy, each time you steal the attack rating goes up around 4 HP.
Frog Drop: Quina's level, multiplied by the ammount of frogs caught, eg, Level:50, frogs caught:70, Damage=3500.
Dragon Crest: The ammount of dragons you have killed with Freya in your party (Here's my tip, have Quina and Freya and another member in your party, fight a grand dragon, and use Level 5 Death by Quina, this will instantly kill them, this raises The Dragon crest attack power by nearly 1000 each time, it's good to level up with too)
Shock And Climhazzard: These attacks kick arse anyway, so I won't explain it.
The only attack I don't understand the criteria for is Armarant's No Mercy, If someone could tell me I'd be greatful.
Woah,
I just got 99 frogs and Master Quale challenges you, that fecker is one hard guy,
Good things:
He's weak to Thunder, Thundaga, Thundaga Sword, bingo.
Bad Things:
He is a tough little bastard, and he has over 20,000 HP.
Best thing is you get the "Gourmand Fork" for Quina, which rules.

No, they didn't have random battles in Chrono Cross. If I remember correctly. No random battles as in you can see the monsters pacing around, typically blocking a story path or treasure. Probably how they'll do it. In Chrono Cross they respawned afterwards. But I haven't played it in four years, so I may be wrong.
Materia would be a good time.

FF - Slow as hell, hard as hell, cool.
FFII - Never really played, I'm told it is good.
FFIII - Not released in the UK
FFIV - Amazing. Cool soundtrack, characters and story. Preferred it over most.
FFV - Takes ages to level, but cool job system.
FFVI - The best. Kefka rocked. Amazing everythingness. Even graphics (the animations were so cool).
FFVII - Ok, cool materia system and world. Not bad story, Aeris smelled bad. Sephiroth is all talk. Looked cool though.
FFVIII - Stylish characters, cool story and a decent system (junction), best airship, lots of GFs :) Problem was it was too easy to level.
FFIX - Zidane rocked. So did other characters (barring Eiko). Big world and cool chocobo digging game.
FFX - Most characters sucked. More fun with break damage, and cool system. Story wasn't bad either.
FFX-2 - I'm allergic to crap games...
FFXI... This game will take your money and time away from you constantly. It requires a lot of dedication to advance, especially at higher levels. It can take about a week to gain a level on the higher end of a job. Also, gil sellers and bots have ruined the experience. If you want to risk uncontrollably throwing your social life away, buy this game. If not, stick with the other FF games. If you play it... BE BARD!

I wouldnt say it was easy, there are some very difficult secret bosses that I haven't killed yet. To complete it fully you have to play throught the game twice to get 100% completion. Stick the game in and decide for yourself. I enjoyed playing it and so i do think it's worth playing.

that is because leveling up didnt do much to your stats and just made the enemies stronger. it's easy to beat ultimecia or omega weapon with a lvl10 squall.

Gladly. This tactic is commonly referred to as the ramza solo, in that you make sure that ramza is the only character you select at the start screen. It's a bit of a challenge, and I wouldn't suggest it for a first timer. Eh, who am I kidding, this way is sooo insanely cheap and easy.
First off, make sure no matter what class ramza is, he has Guts. Nothing else matters at the moment. At the beginning of every fight (except for the first, that fight is easily the game's hardest with my method), have ramza run away into the corner, while the NPC (delita, algus, whoever) runs up and stalls the enemy. The whole time you are in the corner, just keep casting yell! Keep running, and by the time you get your speed up to 99, you'll be having 9 or 10 turns per every one the enemy has. Then start casting accumulate, until it hits 50, and you'll be able to lay the battlefield to waste. Not to mention you'll also have gained more job points than you'll know what to do with, and you'll have gained 8 or 9 levels in the process.
Keep doing this every fight (about the fifth or sixth battle this game will be a cakewalk, the only hard level in the whole game after this is the one where you fight all chocobos), and work your way through the job class tree until you can be a calculator. BUT (THIS IS IMPORTANT) make sure that along the way, you grab MP Switch (so when you get hit, it detracts from your MP and not your HP), Magic Attack Plus (not sure the exact name, its a black mage skill), Move MP-UP, teleport (not really necesary, but you should have like a billion job points in that class already, so why not), and every high end black mage skill (and holy for the hell of it, it's actually my spell of choice).
Go into your first fight as a calculator with guts equipped as your second skill, then, you know the drill yell until speed hits 99, and accumulate until strength hits 50. Learn EVERY single calculator job skill. The game is now over. Sacrifice ALL else in your equipment (HP, status immunities, whatever) to raise your magic attack, nothing else matters seeing as how most battle will end in (at the most) two turns.
Now, how to win every fight in the game.
First thing, cast CT - 5 - Holy. That should hit everything on the map (most of the time, sometimes you have to cast it twice), including you. This is the part that makes me laugh like an omnipotent bastard. MP Switch kicks in, it detracts from your MP, making it 0. Move a panel, and you immediately have MP again. You only need 1 MP, seeing as how calculator skills require none.
The game is over.

i used the auto-potion thing with X-potions. You need to get rid off all the lower potions or they won't be strong enough. It helps because it (most of the time, sometimes it doesn't activate) frees up a turn to knock him upside the head.
But it's kinda annoying having to go out of the way to make Ramza a chemist just to learn one ability that costs 400 jp, screw that.

kuja's theme song is so good...
discuss who has the best theme song in final fantasy. you can download them here:
http://www.ffhybrid.net/mp3/mp3s.php
registering is free BTW
Thanks for that link man, plus, loving your usertitle .
But yeah, my favourite theme song is probbably Vivi's.
The Black Mage Vilage music is good, but the best piece of music for a place in FF9 is deffinitley Oelivert, it's perfect. (If you haven't heard it, it's the music on the welcome screen of FF9 but a little bit seedier and a lot better)
I've been scouring the internet for it, I can't seem to find it though :upset:

They should make a IX-2.
Actually, no they shoudln't because it'll end up sucking like X-2
Does anybody have any information about the Prequals and Sequals to VII?
I don't really understand whats going on, apart from ones for PS2, Mobile and anothers and movie.

The prequel to VII is called "Before crisis" and follows the story of the Turks and is being made by "Square-Enix Mobile" so the game is for mobiles.

It has to be Armarant from FF9.
And yeah, I completed the 3rd disc of FF9, finally.
It was suprisingly easy, and anyone who disses Garland is a poo poo head!
So, who's everyone's favourite character from any of the FF series?
I'm yet to decide, I'll post later though...
Can't decide but i will do this:
FFVII:Cid( I don't know why i just think hes cool)
FFVIII:Squall
FFIX:Steiner
FFX:auron

Its turn-based combat, which takes alot more skill than Pokemon.
The only similarities between the Final Fantasy series are it's origin.

After re-starting IX, I am now in Dali. Disc is scratched up bad and froze on the cut-scene where you're escaping from the Evil Forest. I hope this doesnt happen in any other scenes or i'll be annoyed
My FFVII disc 1 is buggered, every now and again the screen goes MEH and I can't see anything but Cloud running around - text boxes etc...are all screwed up.
Although, I did manage to beat Gi Natick + Soul Fires when the screen was like that earlier
It does suck though when you're no-where near a save point and it happens :(

VII is still my favourite FF game. Though recently looking back and playing IX, i m remembering how much i really did enjoy that game.
VII was just so imersive. Everything about it was genius, the plot, the heroes, and espcially the villians (Sephiroth kicked ***). I suppose it was the first FF game i'd ever played so im still attached to it.
I remember when my PSX got nicked, i was so pissed that i couldn't play FFVII, i was right at a good bit aswell! In the Temple of the Ancients! But my Aunt let me have hers so it was ok.
Then i had to start the whole thing again because my Memory Card got screwed  But it didn't matter, because i got Buhamet Zero that time.
Yeah so i got work at 7:45

I was playing FFVII earlier, it took some effort for me to switch it off and find something to eat, I can easily get lost playing it.
Now that I'm older, the story makes more sense and I understand it more, back when I was 11/12 it kinda flew over my head a bit.

no no, i mean the Tactics for PS1, if they made a direct port, that'd seal my deal in buying a PSP. THe Tactics Advance sucked so bad, it made me want to cry.
Anyway, its been every FF fan's dream since the PS2 came out that there would be remakes of VII, VIII, and IX, but thats probably not going to happen. I heard it was because they couldn't just improve the graphics and keep everything else, they would have to make a whole game from scratch, sure they have everthing they need (like story, magic systems, characters) but it would still take months of development. And no company wants to spend time working on something that whomever buys it, has already played it. Not good marketing or business.

yeah, most of the FF games have things in common. Like black mages, moogles, chocobos. No matter how different the story is from the last, each FF has these things. It makes it all tie together and so no one ever goes, "it did't have chocobos, its not a final fantasy!"

Did anybody own Crystal Chronicals for the GC? I was going to buy it, but i never got round to it after I read some dodgey reviews... It also looked abit ghey.
I rented it, it was a bit sketchy and I didn't understand the plot.
It wasn't that fun to me though.

and most of the time the Cid is mechanically inclined?
yeah, most of the FF games have things in common. Like black mages, moogles, chocobos. No matter how different the story is from the last, each FF has these things. It makes it all tie together and so no one ever goes, "it did't have chocobos, its not a final fantasy!"
8 had the Moombas too. They were great, and need to be in more. I felt so sorry for them guys
Fat people are hard to kidnap

They also had Biggs and Wedge
7 - worked with Barrett
8 - Enemies that were biggs and wedge
9 - never played so I don't know
10 - Blitzball players
ah yes, that too. I haven't played IX in a long time but i don't think they're in there. There's alot of things besdies those i said, but some of em are more subtle. Like Dragoons, weapons (names and such) and since FFVIII, magic has been stuff like Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga. Airships (sure they've evolved, but it has always been the fastest transportation in any FF). Quite a few things really.

Only worth it if you played Co-op with someone. It was very different from normal FF games, but it had its moments. It really only had the FF tag, pretty much everything else was experimental and unique.

I didn't like the soundtrack either.
Now that I think about it, it's a really stupid plot also.

I think in FFX they got to caught up with their fancy "Sphere System" and showing off their graphics.
FFX was way too linear, you didnt really have much option on where to go, it was a bad idea to get rid of the World Map.

Love scenes do not belong in a FF game. After beating off some nasty enemies, what are you rewarded with? 10 minutes of Squall and Riona flirting, with a crappy whiney japanese song backing.

But on the topic of Quistis, at the end of the game when everyone was really high levels, she was 18 :p

yeah and she really only matter in the story at the beginning, same with selphie..and zell. Hell, there was very little character development in that game, aside from them remebering that they grew up together.
Also, the most unimaginative characters too, they were all 17 or 18, and had no outstanding traits. Unlike say, FF7, barret with the gun arm, red 13 and cait sith. Even Vincent. The characters in that game did develop alot more too. Each one had a place where they discovered themsevles and what they're fighting for.
ff8...none of that, it all focused on squall and rinoa

But Brahne apologised to Dagger before she died which was a really stupid character change after what had happened on the previous two disks.
Now Kefka did everything he did just for the sheer hell of it. No reason, no necessity, he did it because he was insane. THAT is why Kefka is the best villian - he did it all because it excited him.

Yeah, I wasnt going for complete comparison, but there are some
- The crazy temperament
- Lack of regard for anyone but themselves (till disk 1 end for Brahne)
- Overall look (FF6 for PSX had Kefka in the cut scenes, see that for some proof)
- Both used other people for their own purpose
- Destory most cities they come across
there are more, but its just something I think is really prominent. In fact, 6 and 9 in general have lots of similarities

Ugh, that sucked. ESPECIALLY when you had Vincent use his first Limit Break on it. All that damage caused before was for nothing.
...
I still won though :D
The hardest boss by FAR is Penance. That is nigh on impossible even at high levels without Zanmato. I still haven't beaten it fair and square yet.
EDIT to AJIG - I still think the whole 'I'm sorry' thing completely ruined Brahnes credibility. If she'd have stayed like she had been before when she did leave, she'd have been up there with Kefka. That's why I think she's the worst villian.
