Fight easy preys. They'll give you 20-40 exp per kill, but you shouldn't have to rest for a long long time. I got BLM from 7-10 in a flash with this strategy. The trick is not to rest even if you don't have MP, you can still kill EPs easily with just meelee

My fave tactic easily, along with party chain killings of Quadavs. Those things eat mages, so its nice to get revenge when your Warrior team mate is taking all the hate

I've never really had a problem consistently lvling up so far, just finding it har dto stay on lvl 17 so far, stupid Dune aggros

Took me ages to stay on level 5, kept exploring, got pwnd by a rock lizard, its annoying coz you try and run away, and they still manage to hit you, then i went up this hill, and came across a goblin, who proceeded to kick my A.ss

I'm leveling BLM currently, just because me and my static buddy are having leveling problems latley as my thief. It's a fun job, I just wish parties would skillchain more, so I could magic burst.

Heh, i've got a sheet printed otu showing me what each element is needed for each skillchain, just so im ready.

Its not easy to pull off an effective magic burst, you can do simple ones, but there are some that if you get them right, you can end up casting 3 times and getting one for each. But yeah, not enough people like to skillchain

Once you get out of dunes, it really starts to pick up, but most people here don't see the point of SC because most WS are really kind of weak at this level.

And what is the significance of this Ancient Cave?
It takes about 10 hours or more to complete, it has 99 floors, when you enter you immediately go to level 1, lose all items, all equipment, and all spells. Also, the floors change every time, so there's no pattern to how it works. There are occasional HP healing things, but they don't show up at all for the last 40 or 50 floors, and the only way to get more MP is to use items that you find along the way. Also, there are no save points along the way, and the final boss of the cave is quite difficult. So, it's basically 10 hours of gaming that get progressively harder and harder, (by the last 15 floors, any enemy you fight could potentially kill your entire party in one round) and if you die once you have to start over. So, it's significance is that it's (in my opinion) the hardest side quest ever created.

Pics of the results of my battle with the final boss will come shortly.

Well, it's hard to say, it's not exactly a typical boss battle. In the first round, it heals your entire part by 999 health, in the secound round it completely refills everyone's MP, and in the third round, it just "checks situation," which basically mean does nothing. However, in the fourth round, it will run away. So, it has to be killed within 3 rounds. It has 10,000 HP (and that's a LOT in that game). So, it was tough in that I barely finished it, but I walked all over it in the sense that there was no possibility of me losing.

I beat Emerald in 16 minutes. The trick is to have someone with 9999 HP and only 2 materia equipped. Make sure they stay at full health so that when Aire Tam Storm hits you get 7777HP-all lucky 7s

for ruby I did this:
I went in with two characters dead
then w-summoned hades and pheonix
then I w-summoned hades and kotr
then I used mime the rest of the time.

and I had Hp-absorb on KOTR and Hades so I would get likr 8742 hp back from KOTR and like 17 hp from hades :lol:

I never used Luck 7s against Emerald. I just did the usual: KOTR with HP Absorb and Mime. It's always killed him before he even got a chance to use Aire Tam Storm so I can equip as much materia as I want.

I love VG cats, all their comics are great. And don't even get me started with the people leaving parties early.. well it's too late, I'm going to break it down.

At level 67, I have to have 29,000 experience points to level. Every single IT kill gives from 150-200, with good chaining, we can get from 220-250. Regardless, it takes a long long time. So last night, me and my static paladin friend finally manage to get a party together, and it turns out the war we invited is a chinese gil seller(which we find out after we already all the way to the Den of Rancor(on the southeast island under Region Info)), so we had to boot him. Then we had to go back to Jueno, get a new war, go to Bibiki Bay, and it's over crowded with atleast 6 parties, and then the WHM gets all bitchy, saying how there's too much down time, then she leaves, and we just give up and disband.

I'm really really getting frustrated with FFXI right now. Especially since I just need to get to 68 to get into a HNM/Dynamis LS. Ugh.

You probably mean Gafgarion. He was a Knight who used swords and armor just like any other fighter except he had the Dark Sword/Knight Sword magic abilities.

I thought I'd lump it merely because you're not sealed to using certain abilities. However, combining Meltdown with any number of multiple hit limit breaks was essentially the same deal.

FFX wasn't really either.

I think this is one of few FFs that equally demonstrated the importance of magic, summoning and strength. Once again, you can do the whole Quick Hit gig among cheap overdrives, but some funky monsters eliminated that strategy.
