To get the battle commands you split your characters in two groups( as you know) but it all depend on stuff....youll have to get the guide of gamefaq...sorry man..thats the only way.

I found a forum once for FF and this guy was saying how x-2 could link to 7

He said it was because Shinra and some other dude said that they knew how to use the earths energy as a form of power

some people said that maybe something bad happened to the planet and they moved and that started FF7 but that doesnt tie in with "the ancients" back story in 7

I think that FF8 definately had the best cut-scenes ever. Notable cutscenes that I remember:

-Intro(best intro I've ever seen)
-Ending(best ending ever)
-the garden battle scenes(several of them)
-the ragnarok assaulting the Lunatic Pandora
-Esthar revealing itself
-going into outerspace
-the parade scene + squall's "jump off the platform, slash a guard, steal the car, and crash into the parade car"
-Assaulting Dollet in the beginning
-Escaping Dollet

The cutscene thing...FF7 all around had the most amazing cutscenes I think. But the intro to FF8 (the game that I am noe going to play, determined to unlock all battle commands :evil: ) was completely badass.

yea the best game was obvioulsy the first one only because you get to choose your own party. also FF7 had great cut scenes but so did 8 but 7 overal was better. the second game was ok but not nearly as good as the others. FF9 was a great game and had great caracters in it. like the night and the girl named after daggers. also, FF X was , by far, the greatest fame with its cutscenes and storyline. FF 4 though, was a good game in that kain would often swicth sides and would be against you then with you. the only bad thing is that you went from being this evil knight to a paladin. so for me ranking is
1. FF1
2. FF7
3. FF X
4. FF 9
5. FF4
6. FF 8

oh i almost forgot.... a great game, even though it wasnt a final fantasy game, is kingdom hearts. it has some of the characters from those games and you get to fight sephroth and cloud and leon and yuffie. its great.

How the hell did final fantasy 10 beat final fantasy 8? You did nothing in final fantasy x, you couldnt die in the last battle, they made it to easy to kill things. The story line was good, but the gameplay was terrible, if they made it where you had to do more quests instead of watching cut scenes, then it would have been better.

Meh it's ok, everyone goes through the stage where they take a break from the game because of its frustrations. I did, over the **** economy and NM drops being rare for me with TH2 :angry:


But I came back and tried things over that worked better. Still playing the game, not so much now because of mid terms though :(

i have to argue about squall being the only good character in ff8 - zell was better in my opinion - repeating booya and heel drop = HUGE damage. also, while using a GF attack, selphie's slot is brilliant. especially with eden, where you have about 2 minutes to get 'the end'

Ugh, it was amazing. One of the most creative FF games ever. I loved the Job system and how strategy was utilized in battles unlike the other FFs where it was just level up and get strong.

Final Fantasy 7 - Best RPG ever. Can't wait for the movie.
Final Fantasy 8- Wasn't bad. I was in 4th disc when i realized how to use the Juntion System
Final Fantasy Tactics- Great game. You could play 100 hours and not be close to finding everything.

Woohoo, I've got a listen of The Black Mages II - The Skies Above. I've currently listened to all the tracks except the final two, and can say for sure that it doesn't have the genius as the first one. But, however, Matoya's Theme and the two FFIX tracks are brilliant.

And there are FEMALE vocals on the version of Otherworld from FFX. They're a drastic change from the low growls of the original, but not as bad as I thought they would be. Funny accent, though.

Just got FF6 and started playing it, its great and they've added a couple of cut scenes onto it for PS from its old, crusty incarnation.
Question....Is Final Fantasy 9 worth getting? My mate who likes FF games had it and he said it wasn't that great. Let me know.

I agree, until you get near the end of the game. The four bosses before and including Necron were pretty fun to fight. (For the replay of the game)

Those graphics were groundbreaking when they came out. Of course 8 years later they won't look as epic as they did then. On topic of FF9, it's an awesome game and I think the replay value is very high. It's not as addictive as FF7, but it's definitely one of my favorites and it's got a great story.

I think thats the right name, I downloaded it today and its pretty good, I've not got far but the basic stuff I've picked up on is you need to save the 5 crystals of Earth, Water, Fire etc...to save the world.

Should be good fun to play over the next few weeks.

What's wrong with FF9? Playing it through again, it's one of if not my favorite Final Fantasies. It's got great graphics for when it was made, is adventurous and has a totally fantasy story. It's just too cool of a game.

Come on. If you're going to post in this thread don't make us decipher what you're trying to write. At least use 6'th grade grammar and punctuation. FF11 was not a bad "experiment". It has more subscriptions than WoW or EQ2, and is still running strong.

3) FF11 has approximately 250,000-300,000 American subscribers, slightly less than EQ2 is estimated at and about 2/3 or 3/4 what WoW has. Even so, you just proved that it was not a "failed experiment" when you acknowledged it has more players because of the Japanese base.

Come on now...Both Shadowbane and Horizons have about 40,000 subscribers. Neither one of these is considered unsuccessful, because they are still making a profit. They are both pretty close to losing money or making no profit, but how can you consider a game that has 15x the active subscribers of these two a failure? You can't if you've got half a brain.

As to FF11's subscriptions going down, it looks like between about June and August of last year they picked up about 50,000 subscribers. Look at the 100,000-600,000 category:

That's one of my favorites. I remember beating that game when it was brand new in like 5'th or 6'th grade. I played it through again about 6 months ago. The boss of the game is actually pretty tough unless your guys are pretty high up in levels. Actually I usually just end up killing one of my party members so that my cure will heal enough to the other members.

i say bring freya instead of quina. she is MUCH better in this level.

when fighting ark, make sure you have the ability clear-headed equiped on all characters to prevent confusion. also, bird-killer and auto-potion are good to have, since you cant use magic here (this is why quina is useless here)

have freya use rei's wind (EXCELLENT SKILL) at the start, and steal as much as you can with zidane, especially for the holy lance (auto-haste works well here). having bird-killer equiped will cause extra damage, and armarant's throw is quite useful too. just make good use of trance and heal properly and you'll win :thumb:

watch out for one of ark's attack which makes your character's hp go down to 1 though.

yeah, quina's generally better than freya, but mainly for his blue magic (white wind, angel's snack, mighty guard), which you can't use against Ark.

One of the only bad things (IMO) about FF7 was when you would equip materia to someone, their health would go down, that was the only slightly irratating thing about that game. Everything else is perfect.

If you take a lengthy break from playing 8, it takes awhile to get used to timing it right to get the gun-shot again.

I've beaten Ruby Weapon and Emerald weapon, both easy.
Not the other two, I've attempted omega weapon, and it was stupidly hard, and I haven't got up to Ozma though.
My tip for beating Ruby:
Equip W-Summon, and make sure you have the Knights Of The Round Materia, and for the love of God cast to your heart's content, KOR usually does on average 125,000 per throw, so it's probbably the strongest summon available in the game.
If all your hits do not take 9999 off Ruby you might as well give up.
All in all it's not actually that hard, well, as hard as people make it :p :lol:

Strategy for OMEGA:

Party:

Squall
Rinoa (that's right)
Character of choice (Preferably Zell)

1. Rinoa. Contrary to popular belief, Rinoa's Angel Wing Limit Break IS NOT RANDOM. It does reflect the magic you have 98% of the time. Junction everything she has except Meteor. You actually only need one Meteor. Remove any magic that is not junctioned.

2. Level. Try to keep your characters at either Lvl. 90-99 but not 100. OMEGA starts the battle with Lvl. 5 Death, which will instantly kill any Lvl. 100 character.

3. Stats. Bring up as many stats as possible, preferably HP, Str, and Mag. Forget Vit and Spr (more on this later). Use Ultima for the best possible boost.

4. Commands. Defend will help alot here. I think Brothers has Defend. So equip it. Recover, Revive, Item are also necessary. Don't bother with GF, I beat Omega wihout GF so you'll be fine.

5. Items. Get 100 Megalixirs by refining the Bahamut card. Get 10 Holy-Wars by refining the Gilgamesh card (If you don't have it, win it from the Card Queen on disc 4. She is on the archipelago south of Esthar.).

6. Magic. Aura, Triple, and Haste are necessities. Have Zell use Triple then Triple again, then whoever comes next, use Aura (3x) then have somebody cast a Holy-War. Do this as fast as possible to avoid OMEGA's crushing attacks.

7. Limit Breaks. Squall should do the obvious here (you MUST have Lionheart, if you don't it'll become much MUCH harder.). Rinoa should use Angel Wing. Remember to only have Meteor and to have all other magic junctioned. Zell's Limit should be memorized. With a high Mag and Luck, you can get up to 12 seconds for his duel. Be sure to use limits after Aura and Holy-War are cast. Do NOT cast Holy-War first, Aura won't take effect if you do.

8. OMEGA. Take a quick round to memorize his pattern:

OMEGA uses high level Ultima and Flare randomly. He starts the battle with Lvl. 5 Death, so recover from that as necessary, or avoid it by avoiding levels that are dvisible by 5. Terra Break is 99% impossible to survive. You can survive this by using Defend. There may be instances where one character gets attacked less than the others. Megido Flame does exactly 9998 damage every time. OMEGA also had Light Pillar which does 9999 so be careful for that.

Good Luck, and don't give up. All you get is Proof of Omega and a Three Stars. The real satisfaction comes from beating the hardest Boss in nearly all the Final Fantasies.

all my characters were in their level 30's when i beat omega weapon. leveling up is completely useless in ff8. it just makes the enemies stronger.

I personally, use him more than Vivi,
he can learn the same elemental attacks as Vivi, but they are usually more extreme.
The part in the earth shrine is easy because he can heal, he's possibly one of, if not the, most useful character in the whole FF series.
