yeah really we can only go so far with a black mage, an esper, a lancer, an enigma(:D), sephiroth, a sharpshooter, and an airship pilot
That actually sounds like a rather well-balanced crew.

Magic users:
Black Mage - can attack and use various status ailments
Esper - can heal, use some attacking; an all-around magic user

Attackers:
Lancer - heavy armor and weapons. Very strong.
Sephiroth - The same. Near invincible.


Light Attackers:
Enigma - fairly strong with some magic and metamorphosis abilities
Sharpshooter - fast, accurate, can hit from afar
Ninja - an extremely fast and evasive character. Can throw much more devastating items than the airship pilot. May have the ability to become invisible, use two swords, and steal.

Sector 7 Whore:
I don't think I need to explain this one. :naughty:

Airship pilot:
The guy who gets us where we need to go. :cool: Has power equivalent to a light attacker as well.

Final Fantasy I is great once you figure out that leveling up and buying decent weapons/armour/magic is a good idea before tackling the Marsh Cave.

I play guitar while playing FF11. There is a lot of downtime when you're not in dungeons. Plus healing is a bitch without a white mage around.

Hit lvl 10 tonight. And solo'd my first mob of Quadravs :) Still cant do the whole mine yet, that place is nasty. Reminds me of that island in FFX , the one which you find by randomly clicking around on the map

Game mechanics. It's kind of a complicated subject, but at level 18 you can do a quest to unlock a sub job, which is another job you level, and then sub it to your main job. The sub job can be higher or lower than your main job, but the sub will always be half the level of your main job when subbed.

Sub jobs give access to the jobs abilities, spells, and traits for its level. Also, HP and MP are boosted moderatley. The problem in movinng the level cap anymore(it was originally 50) is that jobs will become too unbalanced, allowing for some to dominate over others.

The most used example of this is RDM and WHM. RDM at level 40 get a job ability called convert, which switches MP and HP values, which is very usefull in EXP parties, because they can be at full health and 1 mp and instantly have full mp, and after one Cure III + Divine Seal, have full HP again. However, if the level cap was increased to 80, Whitemages would have access to this ability by subbing RDM, which would pretty much make RDM obsolete.

Allakhazam is indeed very useful, but as you progress there will things that allkhazam doesn't cover. The best site overall is probably http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/index.html which is actually maintained by a JPN player who is nice enough to translate all the information that was originally only known by JPN players into english that we would have acess to alot of the more arcane knowledge. Very good website.

3) Go into a store and MAKE SURE that every piece of equipment you have on is equal to or greater than the store offers
4) Go to "fitting room", go to "best fit" and select the character you just set up
5) If all went well, you should be buying a copy of the sword you wanted (for only 10Gil!)

I can't remember if the sword and shield switch places when you go to "best fit" or if the sword ends up in both hands...but it works. :) I use it often.

The reason most of us are humes is that they're the most balanced job class. To break it down:

Nah, a great thing about this game is that any race can do any job, and you're never restricted to one job; You can always change your job whenever you want and go level that.

However, the munchkin things are defeniltly the best mage users. With FF11 you get a free Tetra master game which you can sign up to play as well. Its the card game from 9, but against other people (up to 3 in a game)

Not sure if it has other features but its fun if you want an extra quid ontop each month

I think how it works is if you get same when playing same wall you'll flip the cards you got same with. If those cards have a higher number than the one next to them, you get those too.
