How the hell do you know that the main character isn't likable? Have you played the game? How is the ending?
You guys are acting like idiots. Seriously. Most of you probably don't know anything about the game except a brief description of combat, and a picture of Vaan and you've already pronounced it as the downfall of Square. Wait until the game actually comes out to give your reviews. I mean the game's not even due out until next year and from the sounds of it you can all tell me everything about the game
Liberi Fatali

The only thing I didn't like about Tidus really was the voice acting. So as long as Vaan doesn't have poor voice acting like that, then he'll be fine for me.

Why in the world would you want to skip cutscenes?
You can't skip the cut-scenes in the older games, why would they start putting that feature in now? They are a part of the story and shouldn't really need to be skipped.

The Plus rule in VIII's card game was a bit odd, I can't really explain it without diagrams. I'll try anyway.
Basicly...if there were two cards in a corner and you placed a card in the middle, and both sets of meeting numbers added up to the same number, you'd get 'Plus' and flip both cards.

If you could use the Plus and Same rules effectively they were quite good.
Random was always a bugger, along with Closed and Trade All (the one where you lost all cards/gained all cards that were flipped)

I got very very annoyed at the card game in 8 and 9 to be honest.
the same plus combo rule is the stupidest thing ever on a final fantasy game
on 9 it was the fact you could lose a head to head battle even if your card was way stronger due to the gay "random element" that had be throwing the controller around the room

Yep I managed to on my third attempt. I only did it after levelling up tons against Yans on Vile island. I had Freya on level 85, Zidane on 99, Steiner on 99 and Garnet on 80 odd.
FlyingPaul_83

I used Zidane, Vivi, Steiner, and dagger. Zidane just attacked until he got trance, Vivi would do reflect 2x flare, steiner would use shock, and dagger would heal. whenever dagger had a free round then she would summon, after a while i took him down. Well, You need to do the whole chocobo side quest. Then once you get chocobo paradise(i think that's what it is called) you go to a place there and then a moogle says no don't go there, then you do and then you fight him. You need a gold chocobo to fly up to chocobo paradise.

double posts... oh well. For anybody who's played FFT (on PS1), did you complete the Cloud side-quest? I did, and was kind of disappointed. i found that he was kind of worthless, especially compared to some of the the other characters like Beowulf and Orlandu. it was cool to do the sidequest to get all those other characters, but i don't think they did him justice.

How so? You just need to level him up a crap load.
Oh yeah, you need the Materia Blade if you didn't get it. You need it to make him useful at all.

07-11-2005, 09:10 PM
To gitzplayer1021, Cloud becomes amazing at higher levels. Or so I'm told. I never bothered to get him up, seeing as all my characters were high levels and he was level 1.
A little late, but about Ozma, I beat him at relatively low levels. Everyone was in the 60's or lower, I think. Don't remember for sure, but I've never gotten characters higher than levels in the 60's in any FF game. I used Steiner, Vivi, Zidane, and Garnet. Zidane was in the overdrive type thing (don't remember what it's called in FF9) so he could do 9999 damage with every hit. Steiner could to with some special attack, don't remember quite what, but I think I had him overdriven too. Vivi used double spell casting and used the best spell I had, which did like 7000 damage both times. Garnet either healed or summoned. I don't remember too well, but it was a very difficult process, took a lot of work.
I'm going to watch those parody videos now.

It's hard to make him useful since he's stuck with the Materia Blade at all times. Just give him short charge and Math Skill.

The lagoon is thw hardest part of the entire sidequest. Especially in the deep water part.Just keep trying thats all I can say, sorry.
To mathias and gitzplayer- what color are your chocobos?
Liberi Fatali

I found the lagoon quite easy. The trick is having a strong enough beak, if your beak is weak then you're screwed. But if you have a pretty strong beak finding treasures in both the shallow and deep water parts is easy, especially if you know the areas where the treasures usually appear.

yeah I never bothered with that quest, it seemed weird seeing chocobos in FFVIII. In VII, they were used to race to breed, and it was fun racing and breeding them. In IX, you had one chocobo who would grow and change colors, he was like your friend, and chocobos just seemed to fit in that medival setting. In VIII, it was weird seeing chocobos. You rarely see them, and when you do your just like, What? It was just weird seeing chocobos in FF VIII for me.

well if you want to listen to them or any other from games just go to vgmusic.com but i don't think you can download music but you can here it whenever u want.
Yeah but those aren't the actual songs from the game, there just the midi versions, which aren't really that good of quality.

Thanks :D
EDIT: Crap, it saves them as .mp3.htm files, how can I make them work as just mp3s? I tried just cutting off the .htm tags, and it won't play in WMP :(

YAY!!
Something awesome happened yesterday whilst playing FFVII.
I'm in Florida right now, which we all now is getting battered by hurricanes left and right. I stayed the night at my friends last night, and we decided to beat FFVII completely.
Well, we got to the part after jumping off of the train to get to the Sector 8 Mako Reactor. Immediately, I was forced into a random battle. I was fighting those lobster things that use Silk, and Cloud was first to attack. Cloud attacks, but just as he hits the enemy a bright flash of lightning strikes and a loud blast of thunder is heard outside. The attack was a critical one too, causing 250 damage and annihilating the baddie.

Most the most fateful coincidence I've ever heard. Try and time a Bolt spell with the lightning and see if it magically jumps to the strength of Bolt 3.

then get IX, It's awesome. :thumb:
My FFVII discs are a bit buggered, sometimes after a battle the screen goes MEH and I can't see anything but Cloud.
I managed to beat a boss though when it happened, found a save point then reset.
Yay, I got post #2500 and page 101 :)
NP: Don of the Slums.
That part of VII was highly amusing.
