Either, get a single if you don't have the money now and develop your single skills. If you have money go for a double. You don't have to but I reccomend you start out at first with a single pedal and whenever you feel ready advance to a double. :thumb:
Get your double, so you won't have to post a thread next time asking which double to buy, and at the same time you can save time going down to the local store to get them.

Get the double. Who say's that if you have two bass pedals you have to use both of them? Get the double and practice evenly between single pedal(both right AND left foot) and double doing singles and doubles and triplets and especially paradiddles, holy h*** are those exercises useful. If you develop both feet at the same time doing the same exercises for each you will be very happy at how coordinated and strong your legs are...and don't forget to play both heel-up and heel-down, both are extremely useful and helpful for any drummer. Is this a question of getting a single first? Do you ultimately want the double?
I use a single and prefer it to double. If you want to eventually play double, jsut buy the double. Just be sure not to fall into bad habits and you should be better off playing what you want.

This is a topic that has been played out. Regardless of what you play I'm sure there will be a time when you want to have two kicks. Even if just for fun. So if you you have the $150 or whatever it is for the single you might just want to splurge and spend the $270 on the twin pedal.
At least thats my recommendation

i prefer single bass, i had a double pedal for awhile and didnt find many things to do that were a whole lot better than with single bass, but double bass can be awesome
so ultimatly its up to your choice on if you want to start doing double kick right now or focus on you your single kick stuff

Get the DB pedal, it doesnt take up that much space anyway, and you'll have it there when you want to use it.

I'm a double biggot. I think doubles eat up too much space in the song. Singles are great for keeping a great beat/pulse going.

I have been palying drums now for 2 years and am still using my first kit which is a pearl forum. i am in a band and everything is going well but i am about to purchase some new cymbals (20" ride, 16" and 14" crashes, 8 and 10" splashes and 13" hi-hats) i have decided on which cymbals i am goin to buy but only currently have a hi hat stand and one boom cymbal stand which came with my kit and want to know what hardware i need which will fit my kit and which hold my new cymbals.
Help much appreciated.

Yeah it never hurts to know how to play double, especially to build up a resume, unless you just drum for the fun of it (but don't we all?...) It's just fun to throw in a triplet or a sextuplet in the middle of the beat. Anyone who denies the coolness of that is insane lol. But it can definitely be overused. I like what Vinnie Paul said in a Modern Drummer interview. I'm not going to repeat the quote cuz I'm lazy.
And for the post right before mine, shouldn't that be it's own thread?...But in response, you'll obviously need a stand for each large cymbal (crash, ride). But they also make small hardware to attach to bass drums for small cymbals like splashes. Before I got an extension arm for my 8" Zildjian on my bass drum, I just flipped the splash upside down and put it one of my crashes. So if you are short on cash that's a good way to spare some hardware. It made a cool effect (the splash seemed a bit sloshier and ringy cuz of the crash it was on) so I want to maybe add a 10" or something to my crash again...wow this was a long post.

i say get a single - and never the double. I have no logical reasoning for that piece of advice. I am just an anti-doublepedal kind of guy. probably because you can make anything sound cool with a double pedal even if you arnt that good. I suppose that puts the single pedal user at an unfair disadvantage when it comes to a drum battle or what ever. final solution - burn all double pedals.
That didnt make much sense - im very tired...

I personally wish I'd bought a double as you have it the option of the slave, even if you don't play it where as if you just have single, you don't have that option open to you.
I would say double. You could waste twice as much if you plan to buy it later anyway.

This just may be the stupidest thread ever... Why are you asking us if you want a single or double pedal. If your going to play double bass things go with the double if your not go with the single!

Eh, I'd get a double pedal. Personally I don't like them. I have one, and find that I only use it occasionally...but go for it if you plan on getting one eventually anyways...

You have a point^ but arn't you guys all about expanding your drumming abilities...that's just one more thing you can incorporate into a song or whatever. It wouldn't hurt to be able to do it. I asked the same question a while ago, and I just went with the double and I'm happy. I won't have to buy another one for a while whether I want to play single or double.

Get a boom stand for each and a cymbal arm for each splash and maybe even the 14" crash...if you wanna push it you can get one for the 16" too...it'll save you tons of money and can still give you a great setup without all those stupid legs goin everywhere
Get a double, because if you want to sometimes just play with one pedal, you can disconnect the pedals, but if you buy a single, you can't play double if you started wanting to. Double pedal is much more efficient.

Yeah really, it's not like you're adding another bass drum to your kit. Then it would be a lot more to think about... really, the only thing to ask yourself is if it's worth saving up for a professional one.

I'm gonna agree that this read is redundant... Get what you want. Personally, I have a double pedal, but never use the slave. I play all single pedal most of the time. However, it's nice to have when I'm jamming with some of my buddies who play metal.
EDIT:
... just realized how old this is. God damn, I really gotta start paying attention to this stuff. No wonder I didn't recognize anyone who posted in this...

You can take the slave pedal of, remove one beater and you'll have a simple single pedal.
With that in mind, if money is not a problem, buy a double. It's just another technique to learn and a skill to develop. Learning new things can never be bad.
