View Full Version : OUTDOORS SHOW: need help

I'm playing in a ska band at a show outside on saturday. It's pretty small, but what help can you guys give about set ups, levels and everything? We have 2 guitars(amps are about 65 watts each). Bass(150 watts maybe?) a 100 watt vocals PA, and then an 80 watt PA for the horns. I don't have speaker stands, but will I need to put the PA speakers on top of something?

Having the speakers pointing at the audiences ears will make then sound louder than what they would if they were pointing at your audiences ankles.
I would, in most occasions, reccomend speaker stands.
Not only do they make you sound clearer but they also make your setup look more profession than what it would if you just had the speakers down on the ground, or on some milk crates.
Outdoor gigs are tricky to do. And considering your wattage, I dont think you'll be able to go too loud. So it is lucky it is only a small gig.
Keep in nice and close with each other and encourage your audience to get in nice and close also.
