What?

No. Deryck is in Sum 41.

The guy on One Tree Hill is Chad Michael-Murray. Or Chad-Michael Murray. Something like that. He's married to Sophia Bush or Sophie Bush or something like that. She's hot. She's also the one that plays the brunette on one tree hill. Brooke I think.

They got divorced because he cheated on her with Paris Hilton during that one movie they made together.

Not using capital letters or full stops is "stupider" I feel.

Those two fags look similar. If Henry Rollins and John Doe can do acting, there could have been the possiblity this Sum 41 person could have been the same person on that show.

I guess since i'm not the biggest Sum 41 fan EVA! I don't know all these things.

The fact that "stupider" isn't a word makes you the most stupid person ever. And don't start this ****. It's not my fault you can't tell the difference between two completely different people.

I hate Paris.

The person, not the city.

Paris Hilton is pretty much one of the bottom 10 ugliest people alive in america...if anyone finds her attractive, then they are just a desperate queerbag with the sex life of a single celled organism.

Hence the use of inverted commas to display that "stupider" was used in gest as irony.

People are too serious. I asked if they were the same person because from my memory they looked similar, not everyone's a big Sum 41 fan as you proclaim yourself to be and know these things.

I'm more of an old school Sum 41 fan myself. 88 was a good song, but it didn't stick in my head. Noots is probably my favorite song from Chuck along with Pieces.

Deryck said it'd be more classical Sum style of writing, so I'm hoping for more poppy/catchy stuff. :)

I'm anxious to hear it though.

Sweet.

Any word on Brown Brigade?

MrRhodes
08-21-2006, 04:20 PM
Brown Brigade is a reggae influenced heavy metal band created by Dave "Brownsound" Baksh.

The existense of such a band was first made official on Thursday, May 11, 2006 when Baksh, previously a member of Canadian punk rock band Sum 41, announced he would be leaving the band that he had been a member of for the last 10 years. The split was based on the difference between the musical direction of Sum 41 and where Baksh wishes to take his young career. Brown Brigade will have a classic metal sound, which is the music that Baksh has been longing to write and play since childhood. The music of the band is expected to be comparable to the sound of Iron Maiden, says Baksh.

According to an article by the Rolling Stone in May 2006, Brown Brigade has currently recruited bassist Vaughn Lal (Dave's cousin), drummer Lee Fairlea, guitarist Craig "The Craigulator" Pattison (Dave's guitar tech with Sum 41).

Dave Baksh also stated that the band will have their own mascot much like Iron Maiden with Eddie the Head and Megadeth with Vic Rattlehead. According to Baksh the mascot will resemble a brown knight.

The band recently announced on their website that they have hired a lead singer named Travis Sanders and are currently working on a 6-song EP.

Currently the band has no record company affiliation. They are looking to release their first album in the fall of 2006, and might do some touring in the preceding summer.

Taken from wikipedia, I am very excited about this.

Ladies and gentleman,
Sorry about not updating for the past while. The five of us have been locked in my (Dave) basement recording our debut EP. This thing is raw like mad cow. We did the actual tracking in two weeks and mixed it in about a week. We're psyched and hope this can tide you over till our first full length.
I would like to personally apologize to and thank all of you that have written me. I have not had alot of time to get on the interweb to answer my e-mails and questions. It's been pretty stressful working out a few things. I hope you all understand that I had to focus on the recording. I will answer all of you as soon as I can.
One last thing. We are now in talks with Aquarius to sign a deal. They have been super cool with our creative control. It's going to be an honor to work with Donald K Donald again. Incase you don't know him Donald is the reason The Rolling Stones rehearse and love Canada. I think he is the only one that speaks Keith Richardsish his own obscure language.
Everyone Get Brown,

Both songs are great. I only noticed how similar the opening notes of the two songs were from watching a live video of sum 41 playing pieces, Derek was playing it on the piano and it sounded so similar.

DJ Ducksauce
10-16-2006, 11:43 PM
Mine goes DTLI>AKNF>HHOP>Chuck

DTLI was my first Sum CD, and it pretty much rocks. It was when they got more into the rock side of their career and less pop-punky. I listened to it pretty much every day of 8th grade. I still have a Sum 41 shirt of that time that I wear every now and then.

AKNF is also awesome. It's great pop-punk, and Fat Lip and In Too Deep are great singles from there. Plus it has the debut of Pain for Pleasure.

HHOP is their debut and is pretty much a rawer more energetic version of AKNF. Makes No Difference will always be kick ***, and there are more cool songs on there.

Chuck was a good album, but it didn't have as much replayability as a whole. It has some great songs such as No Reason, All to Blame, Pieces, and 88, but it was a bit of a let down for me. Cool solos every now and then, but yeah.

And that's me.

I won't judge the music until I hear it on an album, but it seems like they're returning to their truer pop-punk roots and leaving the general rock format of DTLI and C

What is your guys favourite Sum 41 album and why?. Would like to know some opinions before I buy one.

well, if you like really heavy Does this look Infected, if you like more melodic rock go Chuck, if you really like pop-punk go Half Hour of Power and if you like a blend of pop-punk and heavier rock/rap then do All Killer No Filler

Hmm, i'm gonna get half hour of power. But what i've heard from DTLI was good aswell.

Slevin
10-18-2006, 11:41 PM
Hard for me to choose... but I like Infected and Chuck pretty equally. The reason I like Chuck so much is because of No Reason. Deryck writes good lyrics, but for some reason, the lyrics of No Reason are perfect. That would have to be my current, overall, favorite Sum 41 song.

Infected was pretty good because it was the first CD I ever listened to from start to finish and replayed it over again. I really loved Over My Head and Mr. Amsterdam as well as Still Waiting. I listened to Infected all the time in grade 9, so it has sentimental value.

Never owned Half Hour or All Killer. Though I have listened to a lot of songs from them. Really good stuff. I don't have an absolute favorite from those two however.

I'm interested in this newer version or whatever of Subject to Change. Deryck says he's improved it the chorus and stuff so I hope it turns out great. Because I didn't find the chorus of Subject to Change very exciting. The rest of the song rawked though.

16 Nipples
10-19-2006, 03:51 PM
Yeah that new stuff sounds great. More like their earlier stuff which I much prefer. I think Dave leaving will have had a huge influence on the new record because Dave is a huge metal fan and you could see Sum 41 were getting more metalish as their albums progressed. Now he has left I think Deryck will move more back to their original style. I sumhow cant see Deryck coming out with the metal solos in their newer stuff, and the fact that they are a 3 piece now is more suited to straight up pop/punk.

K, so...no one comes in here anymore so this is just about the final update from me unless we can get some interest flowing again (which should happen due to new album coming up sooner than later).

If you haven't been keeping up with them, just go to http://www.myspace.com/sum41, because there's alot of neat stuff in there. Like they have a video update on their new album, if I heard Deryck right there's going to be 19 new songs or something like that, and Steve is done recording, Cone and Deryck are recording guitar and bass and Deryck isn't quite done writing the vocals yet.

Also Road to Ruin, their new online tv-show chronicling their stupidity, just kind of looks alot like their Introduction to Destruction (cross your ts and gouge your eyes) dvd, just them filming themselves on the road...being themselves...and that's all, the new music sounds awesome, I can't wait

Because the rapping in Fat Lip went back and forth between the 4 of them, but I'm guessing that Cone will just do most of Dave's since Cone didn't really have too many lines in there.

And What We're All About is a freaking awesome song.

I think I'll actually prefer the new Sum 41.
Deryck said they're going back to a more pop-punk 90's sorta sound.
Which will be refreshing from the annoying 'emo' shỉt nowadays.
(I know it's not emo, plase don't slam with with that bullshỉt, but it's the easiest way to descibe it, you all know what I mean.)
Obviously there wont be any insane solo's, or over technical guitaring, but that's not why I listen to Sum 41.
The just make some feckin' good music.
Anyways, the point of this clumsy ramble was:
I'm looking forward to new Sum Fartie One. :thumb:

hey everyone. we've released a new song off of the album on itunes and other digital stores today. it's called "March of the dogs". lyrically it's one of the more political songs that are on the album, following in the style of our songs "still waiting" and we"re all to blame". i wanted to let you all know that this will NOT be a political record. this is just one of our favorite songs on the album so we wanted to give you it to you early since the record won't be out until the summer.

Well I for one love it. There's not a single song I wouldn't listen to 10 times over. (Excluding Ma Poubble or whatever, I don't speak french, haha)
I don't think it really sounds all that much like AKNF. Obviously it has similarities, as they were both by the same band, but I think it really IS a mix of all of their albums on one, just the first two more than others. Which isn't a bad thing, as I liked the style of music they played then, but I preferred their songwriting in the latter two. UH is a mix of the HHOP-AKNF sound, with the more mature songwriting of DTLI and Chuck.

In the AP Magazine, it was just recent, they wrote this article in it about Sum 41's new album. They said "Deryck was unsuccesful with the lyrics" or something close to that. They were questioning it because after all those other albums it is kinda hard to take them seriously.

It was actually a 'tribute' to them...
Ya know what sucks, Deryck's back.
No more touring 'til next year.
Which isn't actually that far away, but still...

So yeah, whilst drunk last night I bought a ticket to see Sum 41 tonight. They've always been one of my favourite bands if solely for AKNF and DTLI? (I really really do not like Chuck or their other new stuff I've heard).

Anyhoo, can anyone give me a rough idea of what I'm gonna hear?
