why? I can't figure out how people don't like it. It's just as good if not better than alot of their songs.
well, i just don't like it.Maybe it's just because it used to be on tv ALL THE TIME and I just got tired of it...maybe it's just because the song always been bad and I never liked it...maybe both.I think even sum hate this song...at least I heard deryck say something like that in one interview.

you can get good gifs on their website, it's where I got my avatar back when I first joined. you can go to good fansites like http://sumpieces.com and get a couple, but they are too big to be an avatar for musicianforums. or you can just flat out search for some in google images. I hope this helps and its good to have another fan posting. that video sounds cool and I wish that I could have seen it. Oh well.
oh ok thanks for that!! I hope to come to these boards a far bit if i have time......school sucks! lol anyway
omg i feel sorry for u how can u live without chuck?! i took we're all to blame to school today lol and i learnt fat lip on guitar well the start! i felt proud! im not that good at guitar..lol

that's weird, if I ever wrote a song I'd be sure that I really liked it first. But if I saw it on tv ALL THE TIME then I'm sure I probably wouldn't like it too much either. Like Pieces. It is a really amazing song, but they are showing it off WAY too much. They performed it again on Last Call With Carson Daily last night.

I became a member at French 41's forums. Not because I feel like posting there or anything, I just wanted the stupid code for the MediaClub. It is french41club for those of your who want the ultimate Sum 41 fanclub that isn't the Goon Platton goodies. Sorry if I spoiled the moment for the people over at french 41, but I just had to.

Haha wtf.
Sum41 should release a DVD season compiled with the Africa footage, interview and live concerts. Imagine this setlist being seen live
0) Intro Riff (any)
1) Open with We're All to Blame
2) Pieces- since everyone practically whores themselvs for that song. Its turning out ot be quite popular
3) Still Waiting
4) Welcome to Hell
5) Over My Head
6) Daves 10 Minute solo
7) Lead into No Reason
8) I'm Not the One
9) Slow down with fat lip
10) Daves Possesed Hair/Spiderman Soundtrack
11) Hyper Insomnia Para Condroid
12) Drum Solo by Steve and caught off guard by a second drumset and battling it out against deryck on drums.
13) Catch everyone off guard with Pain For Pleasure
14) Kick everyones balls in with 88
15) And last but no least, its sadly the BITTER END (for the setlist also)
all compiled between hours of extras including their famous pranks, hilarious interviews and other stuff I'm sure they can think of and I can't.
I would sell an arm for that.
How would yours go?

I didn't know Dave had a 10 minute solo, and I don't think that Deryck is anywhere near as good at drums as Steve is. But I do believe that I would sell my soul to a banana for that snoochie boochie goodness.
Mine would go a little something like this:
0) Intro (Chuck)
1) Pieces
2) Over My Head (Better Off Dead)
4) Machine Gun
5) In Too Deep
6) The Hell Song
7) Welcome To Hell
8) The Bitter End
9) Hyper-Insomnia-Para-Condrioid
10) There's No Solution
11) Makes No Difference
12) Thanks For Nothing
13) T.H.T.
14) We're All To Blame
15) Heart Attack
16) Dave's Posessed Hair/It's What We're All About
17) Fat Lip
18) No Reason
19) Still Waiting
20) 88 to end it all with a big super awesomeness that cannot be topped!!!!
I would kill people to get ahold of that. Oh man, whoo! I can't believe I just made that up. WOW! I'm in love.

And the arrangment of the set list is as much important as the actual songs.

this is true, when I started becoming a hardcore fan of them I heard Still Waiting on the radio and I was IMPRESSED. I told people that I was going to buy it and they all said that I was stupid and that it was pretty much one of the worst albums ever. I got it and I'm glad that I didn't listen to them. I've been burning Sum 41 cd's like crazy lately because so many so called "fans" can't seem to find the albums even though every time I walk in ANY store there are a given 50 copies of all four of them plus a couple of extra cd's. But I don't really mind. Spreading Sum 41 is a joy for me. Have you done this lately?

Does anyone else want them to move on from Pieces? I mean......I love the song so much, but they just play it too much. And the whole guitar on album - piano on live is kind of annoying. I remember wanting to see We're All To Blame on David Letterman and they played Pieces and they haven't stopped since. Anyone?

they can't move on, cause that's the song people want to hear...i mean, not the fans but the other people.and the record label want them to play it so people will be happy and want to know more about them...and buy their cd, and make money...and yeah, that's how it works.they have to play pieces... :upset: they have to play pieces A LOT.

Anyways, anyone going to see the Sum41 performances on TV? I'm not really a big fan of T.V so I'm just gonna wait till one of you guys link it.
Anywyas, IYO (in your opinion), wuts Sum41's more underrated song? It wasn't made a single/it wasn't made a big fuss about. I would say something like Grab the Devil by the Horns and fuk him up the ***. Its like a short rock/metal anthem that has the likes to match PFP.

Strangely enough, while I love all the solos that Dave does, my favourite songs are still, "makes no difference", and "Fat Lip"...
Must be a nostalgic thing.
What are good songs off DTLI?
I got sick of the Hell song, so don't bother mentioning it :P.
I liked still waiting (not as much as the aformentioned songs), but don't listen to it anymore.
I still need to listen to CHUCK though... i especially liked the heavy part of we're all to blame until the softer part came in.
Oh, and I HIGHLY doubt that Sum 41 was influenced by Linkin Park (reference to an earlier post in this thread).
I find it hard to believe that ANYONE would be influenced by Linkin Park.

Hmm.....most underrated song.....I would have to say Thanks For Nothing. That song is the s**t man. But it was never made a single and it doesn't have a music video and the only thing it does have is a String Quartet Tribute to it, which is extremely cool but not enough.

Makes No Difference and Fat Lip are amazing. My band covered Makes No Difference at my church camp last year. It was amazing and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Good songs off of DTLI? are Over My Head (Better Off Dead), Thanks For Nothing, Hyper-Insomnia-Para-Condrioid, and All Messed Up.

IMO, the best songs of Sum41 (and my favorite songs of the entire punk->rock genre, excluding metal)= 88, No reason, I'm not the one, We're All to Blame, Bitter End, Welcome to Hell, PFP, Grab Devil..., Fat Lip, Hyper Insomnia, Hooch, Cover of Metallica. You'll notice that a lot of the list is some of their newer stuff. Its not because its trendy right now, but IMHO, they just released some killer heavy songs that i love.

if you ACTUALLY listen to it and pay attention to it Sum 41 doesn't copy Battery at all and I wish that people would quit saying it, because it isn't trus, the chord progressions sound the same but they kinda have to, and I've never heard that song by Offspring

i guess copy is a little harsh but u hafta admit they are similiar. they use the number of syllables in "bit ter end" the same way metallica used "bat ter y". but i like the bitter end much more than battery so who cares? (flashing the 41 salute)

dude, they use bit er end because it fits they weren't like "you know what, lets go remake battery in our own way and see if anyone notices" they just made a song and due to the beginig structure of it they were forced to make it similar.

I started to learn the solo in Welcome To Hell (since it's the only bass solo they have) but realized quickly that it was actually easier than the rest of the song. It's just really fast, so I didn't bother with it, I hope Cone puts out some badass bull on the next album like the bass equivalent of The Bitter End.

I started to learn the solo in Welcome To Hell (since it's the only bass solo they have) but realized quickly that it was actually easier than the rest of the song. It's just really fast, so I didn't bother with it, I hope Cone puts out some badass bull on the next album like the bass equivalent of The Bitter End.I think that solo sounds too much like the solo off of Maxwell Murder by Rancid.

haha yeah i figured out the bass solo from welcome to hell on my guitar just for fun. cone is talented and i too would really like to hear some great stuff from him.
yeah, it would be amazing to hear an amazing bass solo, we have so many guitar solos mostly by Dave maybe two by Deryck if he cares enought and Steve totally kicks *** on 32 Ways To Die, why can't we have perfection from Cone?????

yay, another comparison from Sum 41, why is it that everyone seems to think that Sum 41 just took a bunch of random songs and were like "okay, copying commense"? It's getting kinda annoying, but I believe you.

flamed? in this thread? forget that man, this is a peace thread. But yeah, it really is a great song. I totally think that it should be their next single, then 88, then another album. alot of people are going to want The Bitter End to be their next single, but if they did that then everyone would want Welcome To Hell, and stuff. And all the Metallica fans would be pissed when they heard it, so I don't think that it should happen. But yeah. as said, No Reason is great.

I really like the way this band has shifted styles. Much more aggressive riffs, better solos. The only thing I don't like about Chuck is that they rip from Metallica A LOT.
The Bitter End = Battery
Intro of the album = Almost note-for-note intro to battery (that acoustic riff)
Just to name a few lol
But I still love 'em :) Great cd, great show they put on too.
