really? I like in too deep, it has a good solo and a very catchy rythem part. But your opiion.

I would have to say I really never got around to liking T.H.T (tables have turned) or heart attack....

I love T.H.T. so much, I play it for my friends and they are all like "wtf did he just say", oh I love it, and Heart Attack while slower, I still find very awesome, its all about not wanting to be controlled by someone else, its great

ya it was worn out and if you say to some 1 that you like sum 41 they would sing it to make fun but dis new record relly shut them up  :thumb:

hah, yeah, every time someone dissed Sum 41 around me, I either ignored them because I knew that they were really stupid, or I made them pay for trying to piss me off, everyone knows me as "The Sum 41 Kid" its the best, I love it

wow, we are on the second page, not cool, I can't be the only person who posts in here anymore!!!

okay, I was cruising the music store in my mall yesterday and I found a cd by a band named Apartment 26, I picked it up, I sampled it, and the second track was called 88!!! I listened to it in hopes that it would be as good as the Sum 41 version, and to my surprise, it wasn't the same song at all, nothing alike, it was still good though

TheBassicBassist

well... what did he say?

if you are talking about T.H.T. then he said:

You don't have the answers but you're always blaming me
It only lies in your behalf in animosity
You decide it's up to you, so make it what you'll be
After all you seem to be it makes no sense to me
Don't point your finger at me
It's all your odyssey
It's such a foolish game so quick to point the blame
And now the Tables have turned.....SHUT UP!!!

and if your talking about heart attack then your gonna have to be a little more specific

Short Story

Back in the day when the Sum 41 e-mail listers got the e-mail about pre-ordering Chuck I got on the internet and did so, and in my adventure to pre-order this album that I has so patiently waited two long years to order I noticed that Rock Against Bush Vol. 1 was on sale for about $7.99, so I called my mother into the room and asked to borrow a bit of change for a Sum 41 song that I didn't have yet (as most of you should know the rare track by Sum 41 known as Moron is the second track on the anti president cd Rock Against Bush Vol. 1). Knowing my love for the band and my title as The Sum 41 Kid at our church, she gave me the money and I ordered the cd, under one condition, I had to wait until Christmas 2004 to receive the cd with the song on it. So Chritmas finally came and I got the cd. I listened to the song Moron and I loved it, with its drum/alot of bass intro, it was amazing, though it was admittingly short scoring a whopping 1 minute and 39 seconds on the clock. Anyways to make a semi-long story shorter, I finally got Moron and its pretty cool.

Anyone here heard Pieces live on Letterman, when Deryck played piano? It was pretty cool.

Sum 41, believe it or not, have always been right up there as one of my favourite bands alongside Brand New, NOFX and Blink-182. DTLI is easily in the Top 5 of my best albums ever, maybe even in the Top 3.

Anyway I just got some songs (Astronaut which is a demo and Motivation acoustic) which made me appreciate them way more. I want to see them live again now

what is Astronaut, and my e-mail is posted above, I want the acoustic motivation man, and I posted a conversation about the david letterman thing a while back, you can go back and read it if you want

and they've always been my favorite band, I used to like the backstreet boys and nsync back when I was like 6, but then year 2000 came around, and Half Hour Of Power came out, and I was like, what is this pop s**t I've been listening to, I'm upgrading my standards, now I like pop-punk, punk, rock, metal, and only one pop band, but they aren't a boy band, they are a real pop band called Savage Garden, they are pretty good

and I'm not saying anything bad about them, but I've never felt anything towards NOFX, I've never liked them, I've never heard any of Brand New's stuff, but their song titles are really long, and it's cool to look at

Sum Pieces (http://www.sumpieces.com) has both Astronaut and Motivation (Acoustic). I also have Over My Head and No Brains acoustic if you want those?

Yeah, I mean when AKNF came out, I thought they were pretty cool. But that was early on in my music stage, when I thought Blink were the greatest thing ever. But then DTLI was leaked, and I swear I would listen to it everyday on the school bus there and back. When I got home, it would go on the computer. That leak of that album was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me music-wise, and then of course when Chuck was leaked I was really into that as well.

Meh, NOFX aren't really similar to Sum 41, but I just love their music too. And Brand New, jesus man, you have to listen to them. I expect you'll like Your Favourite Weapon more than Deja Entendu, but they are the best band on the planet in my eyes.

Me too, I was disapointed by Chuck after a couple of listens. I'll review it a bit.
The intro is cool but it could have been the intro of "No Reason" so it would have only 12 songs, then "No reason" is a medley of all killer no filler's songs and some more metalish sound ,some linkin park lyrics at begining... Then "We,re all to blame" which is the first single and harder than order songs if we except the chorus which is very popy. After there's a song that i realy like called "angels with dirty faces", the begining is not real good but after the first time the chorus comes the song is very rocky with fast drums. Then the song "some say" which is a slow song and reminds us of "handle this" from AKNF album ,realy the same chorus so its not real good in my opinion to repeat the same thing. Then the best song and the fastest of the album "the bitter end" even if the chorus is about the same thing as Battery of the album "Master of puppets"(best album ever) By Metallica. The solo after the first chorus exactly at same place than "battery". WE see that dave got skills at guitar at least. Then "open your eyes" which is not so bad but not so great with strange guitar sound. Then an other slow song (ew i hate slow songs) "slipping away" not so great ... acoustic guitar all the way and violons too bah I skip it...9th song called "I'm not the one" it's like a rap song with guitar in background instead of a dumb beat. not so great again. "Welcome to hell" is a short fast song that i realy like ,there's a bass solo of 3 seconds woohoo cone first time we notice your skills in 4 albums...Then "pieces" which is an ather slow song but so catchy that I like it a bit, not so bad yeah. "there's no solution" is a linkin park song in my opinion and i don't like linkin park so it's just an other boring song..."88" is a great song in 3 parts i'd say. The begining like someone said is just like Billy talent's song called "The Ex" and is a popy begining since we reach the meatalish part with a solo that reminds me the solo of again a "master of puppets" song called "leper messiah"
the it becomes slow with some guitar amp feedback and piano end it ends like that. It's the best song on the album or the second best.

I'd say if you like a mix of Metallica ,linkin park, old sum41 and slow songs you'll like this album but if like me you like fast songs you should like Does this look infected?.

heck yes I want those too, and it took me effing forever to get ahold of Does This Look Infected?. I knew where to find it and everything, I've just never really had money, so I got it in late 2003, instead of the release date in 2002

I'm never going to like NOFX, I just don't really like it, and the only Brand New cd I've ever seen was Deja Entendu, so I don't know about any of that, maybe when I get some cash, right now I'm looking into Apartment 26, and Catch-22, and stuff like Buddha by Blink 182 (pretty much the only cd by them I don't have), and other stuff

hi evry1:)
Its enhancment isn't anything special, its just an application to get into their new and improved Goon Platoon if you haven't already. So if it doesn't come up when you put it in your computer, then don't worry about it.

my copy of chuck says enhanced cd on the back but when i put it in my computer i just get the making of we're all to blame then it plays the songs and theres nothing about the goon platoon. how do i get it to let me in the goon platoon? i tried on the site but it sed to pay for it in dollars which is useless coz i live in uk and i REALLY want to get in the goon platoon. :(

If you pay by credit card it doesn't matter what currency it is.

And that might be the reason your enhanced is like that. Mine is too, but if he lives in the US then they will obviously aim it at the US market

Chuck is amazing. Almost all the songs are extremely catchy and the solos that Dave puts out just shows you how talented he really is. This is the first album where you can tell how much other bands have influenced them; such as "There's No Solution"-Linkin Park, "The Bitter End"-Metallica. And the chorus of Some Say sounds so similar to Handle This it's eerie. I think Chuck is uber compared to D.T.L.I.

and also in im not the one-linkin park plus in no reason and angels with dirty faces- those two songs have bits taken out of infest by papa roach if you have listened to that

"The Hell Song" was the reason I wanted to learn to play guitar. Its also the CD that got me into Pop-Punk. I used to listen to it every day for a few weeks.

that's awesome, me and my brother learned it, he even plays the guitar solo

I have trouble choosing between the songs because I love them all so much, but currently my all time favorite song is 88 so I suppose that would count, I have a "Best of Sum 41" folder on my comp at my house (right now I am at my school's media center). The song's aren't really my favorites but they are the one's that snagged the most attention. When I get home I will try to post all of their names.

HHOP: Makes No Difference
AKNF: Fat Lip (Cmon it's so catchy!), Handle This
DTLI: Hooch, Thanks For Nothing
Chuck: No Reason, Pieces, 88

88 is the perfect way to end the album in my opinion, as is Hooch. Nowadays it's so popular to end albums with slow and sometimes acoustic songs, but not Sum 41. I love it.

if you've seen Napolean Dynamite then say this next quote like he says it "Luckyyy". there are only two semi-neat stations where I live, it's not fair. I wish I could get a nice station.

I have to give the radio some credit, if it weren't for them then I never would have heard First Date, and if I'd never heard First Date, then I never would have been at the store looking for Blink 182 when I found Sum 41. Go radio.

Michael (sumfartieone4u) said that he would e-mail it to me, but he never did.

I was on http://www.sumpieces.com and I went to the avatar section and it was playing then after it finished I went to my Temporary Internet Files and grabbed it out of there, so now I have it. I still want a better version because mine is all quiet and junky. It is their first song to have two F words in it. The chorus sounds almost exactly like one of the choruses of one of the songs on their new albums. I liked it, but Michael, I still want it from you bud.

Deryck is walking out in the streets and everything, and it's all dark. Then like this van-thing passes by at the end of the first verse with Steve in hanging with some girls, and it says "The perfect vacation is waiting for you" on the side. There are more like this;

Dave and his wife at their wedding, and it says "The perfect night..."
Cone and a family of upper-class people, and it says "The perfect family..."
Steve again in a gym with more very nice looking women, and it says "The perfect body..."

All the way through this we see clips of Deryck walking around and everything, then at the end he is siting on a chair in this dark room, and it zooms out and he is in one of the vans, and on the side it says "The perfect life is waiting for you"

Nice concept video I think.

P.S. - I have also seen Sum 41 on the DTLI tour in the UK. They were amazing, Deryck went on drums for PFP!

Deryck always plays drums for PFP so that Steve can sing, does everyone know that my b-day is the same day as Steve's? and it's three days before Dave's, I was so happy when I found that out

It was disclosed that Deryck and Paris had some sort of "sexual" relationship, so they did do something. Lucky bastard, personally, I find Paris to be really hot in some way. Shes flat, she looks plastic but something about her is pretty **** hot.

Time for a stupid question though, I remember asking one time, but what the hell are reputation points?? And how do you check out other peoples/your own.

And how do you check out other peoples/your own.

btw, bassicbassist, heres something you might love.

I've never thought highly of her, I just think that she is a didtsy f***ed up little B***h who gets more attention then she is worth

rep points are just a stupid internet popularity contest, don't even worry about them, if you want to check them then go to the top of your screen and click on User CP.

I will check out the one for Sum 41 but (I know that I will get flamed for this) I don't like Metallica at all, never have, never will, but if you do then that is fine by me

that's a good opinion, but remember no band bashing, let's try and let this be the only post against metallica like that, ok everybody??

It's not that I think they are bad or anything. They are very talented and I recognize that, but I just never liked their music, and as it's looking, even their die hard fans aren't liking their new stuff.

It is annoying that people worship them so much, because they haven't really done anything special. But we are all just going to have to deal with it the best we can.

I've heard all of those songs before, and none of them sparked my interest as more than just another song. I don't really like the guys voice. There isn't really anything to it. But it's okay if you like them.

Let's not talk about them anymore. ummm....I haven't listened to Sum 41 in awhile because I've been too busy with my own band writing and recording and stuff. Which cd should I pop in when I get a chance??

okay, for goodness sakes now, this can't turn into a metallica hate thread, I tried so hard just to keep them from closing it, please, let's have there be no more requesting or thrashing of metallica, I don't like them, I've already said that. His name is Dave, and he's pretty good, yeah. He messes up on the solo's sometimes live, but that's just because it's live. He is actually really good. He can play solo's behind his head. I think that if he were just a little bit better then he could be the guitarist for an awesome metal band.

I can play all of 1st solo in Bitter End exactly right, and half of the second solo. I'm still learning, and I can also play the entire song "Bitter End" + "88" (minus last last solo). Sum41 songs are relativley easy.
If you're a bassist, you'll find much more creativity with guitar, often the best rythm guitar players have bassist roots or genes because they know how to define the beat of a song. So go for it.

lol well with 19 pages, i didn't read everything... but,

I think All Killer No Filler was their best album, by far. I love Fat Lip, Motivation, In Too Deep, and Pain For Pleasure. I reall yhated how they turned from spiky blonde hair punk guys to straight boring black hair rock guys... its like a whole new band, and it kinda sucks... I didn't really like Chuck, only one or two songs on it... I'd put AKNF first, HHOP 2nd, DTLI third, Chuck last... my opinion though

sum 41's my favorite band, along with blink 182 and green day... they're all pretty cool. they have some kinda easy songs, and my band is sort of made in the image of sum 41, or w/e... they're kinda our role models

im hoping to hear all those other sum 41 songs i've heard about, i've only got those four main cd's though... and im hopin they come out with a new cd soon, but obviously at least like another year considering chuck just came out... but i hope they get back to the more punk-ish kind of music...

sum 41's my favorite band, along with blink 182 and green day... they're all pretty cool. they have some kinda easy songs, and my band is sort of made in the image of sum 41, or w/e... they're kinda our role models

im hoping to hear all those other sum 41 songs i've heard about, i've only got those four main cd's though... and im hopin they come out with a new cd soon, but obviously at least like another year considering chuck just came out... but i hope they get back to the more punk-ish kind of music...

no there not going back to punk :upset:

lol well with 19 pages, i didn't read everything... but,

I think All Killer No Filler was their best album, by far. I love Fat Lip, Motivation, In Too Deep, and Pain For Pleasure. I reall yhated how they turned from spiky blonde hair punk guys to straight boring black hair rock guys... its like a whole new band, and it kinda sucks... and also thank you Mr. Pelletier (sorry if spelled wrong)

yeah, it's good to have new poster's opinion's every now and then, if you sound anything like Sum 41 then you are awsome. I don't think the hair matters, I couldn't really care less about that. They won't go back to their punkish style, but I think their new cd is amazing so it doesn't really matter to me all though it would deffinately be really cool. And Chuck Pelltier deserves praise like nothing else. I hope also that I didn't spell his name wrong

yes gc I am serious. they're whats right about their style today

there is nothing wrong with them, they are good listening. they aren't punk or pop-punk or anything near it. they are sort of an alternative pop band. it's not what people usually listen to so people hate it.

Maybe live, but on album he is rarely heard. I think you here him say "yeah" in What We're All About (The Original Version) but I'm pretty sure that's it as far as recordings are concerned

the only reason Sum 41 is changing their genre is because they are getting better at writing and they don't feel like writing punk anymore, but I did find it super annoying that both Green Day and Blink 182 completely changed their sounds for their new albums, although I did learn to like their new sounds

Okay everybody. I got "A String Quartet Tribute To Sum 41". It is absolutely amazing. It's not 100% acurate but what tributes are? It was amazing except for the fact that the track listings were all out of order and I had to sit down and figure out what songs were where. And it says that track 12 is a song called "Parasitic Nematode" but then there isn't a song #12 and Sum 41 never did anything called Parasitic Nematode anyways. Othere than the track junk the cd was amazing and I am very glad that I got it.

but if they did rip of a song it would be pieces like that coldplay song its better but alot like it, the same chords and all

I agree, I would like to hear about the concert also

the video at the beginning is stevo killing cone and eating him, and then stevo trying to eat deryck and dave.

I think they started the set with hell song, over my head, my direction, we're all too blame...and now i don't remember in which order, but they played nothing on my back, no brain, ANIC, pretty much all their new album...the encore was fat lips...which is a deception but anyway...

during pieces, deryck went in the back of the room (don't ask me how he got there and how no one noticed he wasn't on stage anymore, i have no idea...it must have something to do with the pink bunny that was on stage) and he played piano and sang a couple songs there.

deryck is dressed as elvis for a song (don't remember which)
the guys are awesome live.
they FINALLY decided to let that in too deep crappy song out of their setlist (**happy dance**)

i noticed that the first time I saw them (does this look infected tour), their fans were like from 8 to 14 years old....but they really changed on chuck and people at the show were from 16 to 35, really.

HAH!!! pink bunny, why in the world was there a pink bunny on the stage?

yeah, there are only so many chord progressions that will actually work. Especially when you almost always stick to four chords. Actually, they managed to go outside the four chord pattern a lot on this CD, i thought that was pretty cool. but as i was saying, whenever you put four chords together, chances are it's been done before. and as far as the bitter end sounding like it was ripping off metallica, it definitely had some similarities, but there's a fine line between "ripping off" and showing influences. I suppose it's a matter of opinion which it is.
