I wouldn't bring up paranoid every post. Its not as good as some other sabbath songs, IMO. I personally like Supernaut better. What does TYR stand for?:upset: I havn't heard much past Ozzy era.

At a guess....4
5 actually.
Eternal Idol
Headless Cross
Tyr
Cross Purposes
Forbidden
In that order.
Ah yes, Ray Gillan was supposed to be on Eternal Idol but left soon after recording his vocals.

Headless Cross
TYR
Cross Purposes

That made him the second longest serving Black Sabbath vocalist

shadow_stalker
01-15-2005, 02:03 PM
about 4 weeks an sabbaths first album will be 35 years old
^Pointed that out a few pages ago.
Then there was a silly arguement about when Sabbath first started.
Also, you might be able to get some Ray Gillan stuff off a p2p.

yeah buit i just got an email from joe siegler so i just thought i would say
I'm gonna have to download some sabbath tracks with Tony singing,
I just haven't got round to it yet :(
shadow_stalker
01-15-2005, 03:53 PM
i didnt know tony sang on any
EDIT: sorry i thought you ment tony iommi but you were probably talking about martin
who sings cardinal sin?
Maybe he means Tony Martin?
So....I put Live Evil onto cd today after having it on my comp from vinyl for a few weeks.
All I have to say is:
What
A
Joke!
The album totalled at 82mins or so, which meant I had to do some song editing.
I had to:
Cut out all of Fluff
Make E5150 about 40seconds shorter
Cut out aload of crowd cheering
It took ages.
But, I now have Live Evil on cd, along with Headless Cross.
Yay :)
shadow_stalker
01-15-2005, 04:19 PM
you could have just bought the cd
But I got it on vinyl ages ago and I can't be arsed searching shops for it to find it priced at around £15

So why didn't you just use 1 cd for each vinyl record rather than try to fit both records on one cd?
Deterium216
01-15-2005, 05:21 PM
dude, just buy the cds, they're not that expensive if you know where to look. I mean, pounds into $$ is at about 2&1, right? if you're spending 30$ on a cd, than you should just get napster or kazaa. And anyway, aren't all of the post-ozzy non-imports dirt cheap anyway? I mean, I picked up Tyr for about six bucks.
rippa32
01-15-2005, 05:30 PM
6 bucks? thats alright. But btw he has explained before that he prefers the sound of vinyl.

The cd version has all the songs on one cd :(
Its an 80min album, I'm not too fussed about chopping out Fluff because its only the album version being played and crowd cheering is nothing special.
I knocked it down to 80mins and 1 second in the end, it burnt fine.
And to the n00b:
1. I refuse to download albums
2. I love vinyl
3. $1 is approx. £1.89 at the moment
4. Over here all the Sabbath albums are priced the same, regardless of singer.
5. I like making 5 point posts.
6. Taking it too far with number 6

I read that a piss-load of people are making a petition telling the other band members to kick Ozzy out of the band because his lack of commitment is what's keeping them from making a new record.
rippa32
01-19-2005, 04:13 AM

I wanna see a new sabbath album regardless of the singer. Ozzy got buckethead on guitar but fired him, and bls are releasing a new album
so it's either sabbath or solo.
but if he was going to be replaced i think I should sing for sabbath lol,
not to brag or anything but i can pretty much sing every song perfect and
i have a pretty good stage presence (so i'm told)

is it me or did sabbath turn more towards the gothic kind of lyrics after ozzy left?
As in about Satan etc...?
That all started in the Ozzy-era, Dio carried it on but made it a little more fantasy/power metal-ish then Tony Martin had ago at it on Headless Cross.

well i found out today that a guy ive known for nearly 6 years went to see sabbath a long time ago, when they were touring with dio (he thinks)
what's everyones opinions on TV crimes? its a dio song isnt it? i heard it a while ago and wasnt sure.
and my opinion on ozzy's voice: good, but gets annoying if you hear it too much, especially on the higher pitched songs.

TV crimes was on the Dehuminizer album, which is Dio. It's a pretty good song better than most on that album in fact.
ah ok. i may get that album, or possibly heaven and hell, next.
From what I've heard of Heaven and Hell, it's pretty amazing.
Neon Knights, sign of the southern cross, and the title track all stood out pretty well.

Black Sabbath, War Pigs, Iron Man, Paranoid, Children of The Grave and Fluff
no one should sing them songs except for ozzy...and me...except fluff which deosnt have vocals
isnt about sabbath but i got the re-released version of 'number of the beast' by maiden today, but since i dont have a record player i cant listen to it :upset:

i only have remaster ones (except the best of and reunion), its quite annoying because i like the older ones better (that may be down to the fact that i heard them on vynal rather than cd, but whatever)

I like Ozzy's voice, I was just pointing out that its crap compared to Tony Martins voice.

01-22-2005, 03:07 PM
if you were one of the people i hang around with you may well have got a slap there andy!
:naughty:
Think about it, Ozzy doesn't have the greatest vocal range in the world whereas Martin has a much broader and wider range.
Its possibly to quote Ozzy as saying ''I never knew how to sing, I just shouted and hoped for the best''
shadow_stalker
01-22-2005, 04:04 PM
yeah your right, but shouting and hoping for the best has worked for the last 35 years of ozzy's career
hows the story of volume 2 dvd? and i still havnt got dehumanizer yet

Black Sabbath is good stuff. I got "best of black sabbath" album. 2 CD's full of great songs.
Ozzy years - Vol.4, Never Say Die!
Dio - Live Evil
Tony Martin - I've only got Headless Cross and TYR, I like them both the same
O.K the best songs off Sabbotage: (imo)
#1:Megalomania
#2:Hole In The Sky
#3:Symptom Of The Universe
#4:Supertzar
#5:The Writ
#6:Thrill Of It All
#7:Am I going Insane?
#8: Don't Start (too Late)
Weirdly enough, I checked out my friends Black Sabbath Greatest Hits yesterday and it has Don't Start (Too Late), on it...

I think the best sabbath song is wicked world off past lives. it goes for about 20 min, and every note is brillent. I have a new respect for tony iommi because of it. thats the problem with greatest hits cds, they never truly represent the bands talent :upset:
Greatest Hits suck,
I'm ashamed to say I bought any.
Greatest Hits albums should only be bought if you're unsure as to which album to buy.
JugBandBlues
01-23-2005, 11:39 AM
yea i too am ashamed a bought a black sabbath greatest hits (witch now that i look back was HORRIBLE) the only one that comes close is black box set........but it still doesnt represent past lives  its a conspiracy i swear
Black Box is every Ozzy era album though, its not a greatest hits.
Past Lives is the Live at Last album packaged with a bunch of other live songs, I really need to get myself a copy.
I have We Sold our Soul...and an old Greatest Hits on vinyl.
Woah, every Ozzy era?
How much (RRP) would that cost?
 :amaze:
Erm...at a guess around £60

i did like we sold our soul
if you dont like greatest hit albums does that mean you dont like they're music?
no i dont think so. anyway, greatest hits albums are normally just singles, and often the singles arent the best songs on albums, so the band often have better songs than are on the greatest hits albums.
Greatest Hits albums are normally put together by the record company, like sack-man said just of the bands singles.
The reason for not liking them is they don't really show off the full product of the band, normally the rest of the songs on their albums are better than the said ''Greatest'' hits.
What's everyones favourite obscure sabbath song?
By obscure I mean, the ones no-one talks about: A.K.A album tracks..
Mine has to be Spiral Arcitect or Cornucopia.

Its not Maiden.
Its Bruce Dickinson singing for Godsmack, I think.
shadow_stalker
01-25-2005, 11:17 AM
meh still good
that australian sabbath are pretty good, guitar on paranoid is great but the singers voice isn't really powerful enough
'Trev' does quite a good ozzy look-a-like impression, so does 'Rob', but the others didnt seem to put much effort into looking like sabbath
I like the version of N.I.B from what I've heard.

They are still watching us, there must be a spy *glances between 'i am jimmy page' and 'sack-man'

i just thought, why are you doing metallica?
you should have done a sabbath song.
shadow_stalker
01-25-2005, 01:30 PM
power chords don't sound that nice when done on things like violins, also metallica songs like one are more progressive than some sabbath songs, so it will hopefully pick up more marks and...um...shut-up spy!!!
lol. as long as you manage to get it all right.

Probably Heaven and Hell on guitar. The quintessential Power Metal riff.
Or Maybe NIB or Iron Man, Because there NIB and Iron Man.

But i still love to rock out to Paranoid and War Pigs occasionally.

Hey all, Black Sabbath IS my favorite band and they are the reason I started playing bass. I'm not very good but I am TRYING to learn the bass solo at the beginning of N.I.B. I got a little bit. But I'm not very optimistic as if I'll be able to play it as good. After this post I'm going to go try and learn the beginning of War Pigs. I know that I might be a little sucky but hey, it's fun trying. By the way, some good songs are Black Sabbath, The Wizard, War Pigs, N.I.B., Tommorrow's Dream, Fairies Wear Boots, Children of The Grave, Sweet Leaf, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Snowblind, Iron Man, A Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village, Wasp, Behind the Wall of Sleep, Paranoid of course, Bassically, Wicked World, and many, many, more. Oh yeah! You can't forget Heaven and Hell.
^No.
Paranoid sucks.
The rest of that list was good though.
