So i was looking around at all these "official threads" and noticed someone, no Black Sabbath thread?? I think out of all these bands these guys really need a main thread. They are one of the best rock bands ever. You can discuss anything Black Sabbath/Ozzy in here, but do not spam and flame.
I'll start this off by asking, what is your all time favorite Black Sabbath song?
I am not really fond of black sabbath OR metal-lickers
ozzy is just a druggy headed bat killer

Dude, just leave unless you're going to make an anti-sabbath post thats better than that one.
I had something else to say, but I forgot what it was....
..oh yeh.
Back in the day I used to listen to mainly radio stuff, then I went through a nu-metal phase, then an elitest ''omg nu-metal is soooo crappy'' kinda thing...then I went to Ozzfest 2002 and it all changed from there.
These days I'll listen to anything.

Going back to that poll you said is gonna come... Hope there will be more sabbath albums. And I will hang myself if theres more maiden and metallica albums on there than Sabbath. Eh either one album from each band or at least three Sabbath (might exclude Paranoid)... No. Might not exclude Paranoid because it's the only Sabbath album people know and it at least has the chance to be voted for.
If any Sabbath albums appear on this new poll, they will most likely be either Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality and Heaven and Hell. I highly doubt that any others will make it to the final list.

Iced Earth - Black Sabbath, Electric Funeral - both good
Biohazard - After Forever good
Corrosion of Conformity - Lord of this World good
(teoretically) Maiden - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath crap:)
Megadeth - Paranoid and Never Say Die! Paranoid crapped, the other song good
Primus with Ozzy - NIB no opinion really
Sepultura - Symptom of the Universe too heavy i think
Slayer - Hand of Doom quite good
White Zombie - Children of the Grave cool:)

On to the next album. What does everyone think of sabotage?
Sabotage... I like it. It's much different than SBS and all previous albums, though. A bit 'lighter' and i think more cheerful (too much drugs already? :) ). And I must admit I don't know it really well because i've got it as a whole in one mp3 :(.
Hole in the Sky - cool song, very catchy riff, nice sounding chorus, good lyrics, and well-matching solo. And the drums are very good, have some nice fills here and there. Don't Start(too late) - a good guitar instrumental. Nice to listen to, very smooth sounding, and good opening for Symptom of the Universe - one of my faourite riffs of all time. Strange lyrics, but still listenable. And that acoustic part from the middle - really masterclass in a song that is built on E power chord. Megalomania - another one which I love, really. Got to know it from Past Lives, and it really is cool, in spite of being sooo long. Nice vocals, good lyrics, odd - for Sabbath - but still good guitars, well-working rhythm section - as always. The Thrill of it all - That's one of the songs that I don't know very well. Sounds just good. Supertzar - GREAT! fukin' good instrumental, very odd-sounding, but very nice to listen! Very cool riffs. And I like those choirs. Am I going Insane (Radio) - I know it from some 'Best of' casette. And like it. It's really insane :). those laughs in the end... sooo creepy and spooky ... The whole song sounds very nice, Ozzy's vocals fit very well. The Writ. The last song, and I don't know what to say about it, 'cos I've never paid attention while listening to it. I guess it's 'another good song by Sabbath :)'. Alright I'm waiting for others' opinions on Sabotage...

Yeah that's the one.
Sabotage is a rockin' album.
How many peope here have heard the bonus song 'Blow on a Jug'?
Its at the end of The Writ on the old vinyl pressings and the most recent remasters. Its pretty funny, 32 seconds or so of Bill and Ozzy messing around on a piano.
Megalomania is the best track off Sabotage IMO.
For Sabbath covers, I've got:
Iced Earth - Black Sabbath...its pretty good.
Iron Maiden - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath..is also pretty good.
Pantera - Planet Caravan...excellent cover.
Ozzy + Primus - NIB..another excellent cover.
NOFX - Iron Man...its interesting, theres a lack of guitar solo but they have the bass outro up to speed at the end. I also have their cover of Ozzy's Crazy Train. Its got added horns and doesn't sound anything like the original, which is what makes it so great.
Megadeth - Never Say Die...was an alright cover, nothing special though.

Witches gather at black masses
Bodies burning in red ashes
On the hill the church in ruin

Watch them eating dead rats' innards

Why doesn't everybody leave me alone, yeah
try that
Too easy. Megalomania, of course! Now come on:
'You stand there captain we all look
you really are mediocre
you're the champion of the ACME form book
but I think you're just a joker'
learnt this from www.black-sabbath.com, i dont know if it is right...
With that Sabbra Cadabra business Andy... thx for trying. Will try finding it somewhere...
C'mon guys, I'm still waiting for an answer to the lyrics I posted.
Its an Ozzy-era song aswell.
Just for fun, I'm going to post some more lyrics.
''Child cries out for his mother
Mother's screaming in the fire
Satan points at me again
Opens the door to push me in
Oh No!''
Also, I'm going to make this rule: You may check a site like www.black-sabbath.com to make sure your lyrics are correct, but checking there for answers is not allowed, it takes away the purpose of ''Guess'' the Sabbath song.
That sound good to you lot?

I didn't want to see you go
And now it's hurting so much, what can I do?

Your memories are all I have
I sit here waiting but you'll never show
Without you I can't carry on''

Technical Ecstasy?
Its a pretty good album, IMO not as good as Never Say Die!, but still a pretty solid album. I only really heard it all the way through when I copied it from vinyl to cd, songs like Back Street Kids, You Won't Change Me, Gypsy, She's Gone and Its Alright are all good songs, I'm not so keen on Dirty Women or Rock n Roll Doctor though.

''Yell with the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Chain the sun, and it tears away and it breaks you as you run
You run, you run!
Behind the smile, there's danger and a promise to be told:
You'll never get old - ha!

Never Say Die! = the most under-rated Black Sabbath album. Its one of their best.
Air Dance is possibly the best song on the album, with Swinging the Chain coming a close second.

Hmm back to Sabbath talk gentlemen... There was a poll on the forum of Joe Siegler's site, asking whether Bill Ward should be replaced with some other drummer... Would you agree? And if so, who would you choose? I would say as long as Bill has the strength and health to handle a studio album, he should do it, but later... someone like Vinnie Appice or perhaps Cozy Powell might come? I'm leaving you with this topic.
Cozy Powell died in 1988, so unless they've invented a way of bringing him back to life there's little chance of him drumming.
If they were to replace Bill then Vinny should do the job, he's a pretty solid drummer.

We sailed away on a crimson tide, gone forever
Left my heart on the other side, all to break it into bits
Her smile was a winter song, a Sabbath ending
Don't sleep or you'll find me gone, just an image in the air
try that

I was wanting to listen to War Pigs with the alternate lyrics, I think it's called walpurgis. If anyone has it could they send it to me. Maybe through MSN or something like that. If anyone has it and is willing to send it ill give them my email address.

I thought he went in 1988? Car crash?
I'm not 100% sure.

The first line reminds me of Planet Caravan, but its not that song.
Is it an Ozzy-era song?
Also, I've listened to about half of Headless Cross and its a pretty good album, Tony Martins voice is pretty good, kinda like Dio's in some places. The song Headless Cross has a great riff.

Oops, didnt know about it. But it couldn't be 1988, because he did the drumming on TYR which came in 1990 or something like that. Andy could you try zipping the live sabbra cadabra mp3 you have and then send it to me through msn?
/me Zips file.
/file becomes 14mb in size.
/me tries to send through MSN.
So...I have screenshots of my Black Sabbath collection on my computer. There's been some additions to it but y'know, I'm bored and looking through my photobucket.
Enjoy?

Wish I had so many Sabbath mp3s... Andy what are there doing all those Paranoid album songs? :p
I changed the stars ratings for the Paranoid album down to 3 stars per song, apart from Planet Caravan, which still has 5.
/waits for someone to ask what the Black Sabbath - Earth thing on the side is.

Alright I'm asking that question :p.
That Sabbra Cadabra version sounds a bit odd... Tony's guitar's sound is much different from what i am used to.
I'm listening to "Electric Funeral" my favourite Black Sabbath song, and favourite metal song in general.
I'm copying my copy of Headless Cross onto my computer as I type.
Its fun.
And I'm pretty sure they smacked an under-water effect on Tony's guitar on Sabbra Cadabra.
Is headless cross any good?
I only have "Black Sabbath,Paranoid,Master Of Reality,Volume 4,"
I sort of lost interest after those (I have live evil aswell..)
Any other albums I should check out?
Get the rest of the Ozzy-era albums (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die!) then if you've got Live Evil I recommend getting Heaven and Hell + Mob Rules (They have Dio on vocals like on Live Evil)
The albums after those I've not heard much of, Headless Cross has Tony Martin on vocals and in some parts he kinda sounds live Dio, his voice suits the music well. I'm about halfway through the copy (I'm copying from vinyl) and its pretty good so far, well worth buying.

What's the sabbath album with the guys in industrial suits on the front cover?
That front cover is awesome.
I think its Never Say Die!
Very good album, the last one with Ozzy on vocals.
Awesome,
what would you say the best is?
My favourite is Black Sabbath,
such a varied sellection of songs, I bloody love the wizard.
I don't think their is a 'best' album by the band, everyone has a different opinion.
The majority of people say the best albums are the first 3 (BS, Paranoid and Master...) then Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. They seem to forget every other album that Black Sabbath have done. Highlighted the band name because most people think anything after Ozzy-era isn't Sabbath, when it is.
Anyway, enough of my ranting, it wasn't aimed at you Mr.I am Jimmy Page, the album that I think is the best is either Volume 4 or Never Say Die! from the Ozzy-era, Heaven and Hell from the Dio-era and I haven't heard enough from the post-Dio-era to say anything about that time. But Headless Cross is currently kicking some big arse, even if a few songs sound a bit typical 80's/early 90's rock.

I love "supernaught" what a song man...oh yeah "under the sun" rules too.
Both songs are fantastic :thumb:
Tomorrow's Dream is another fav. from Vol.4.
