Thats still a good number. I suppose that was stupid thinking the thread was big enough for one person to post 5,000 times. ah well. btw Im probably going to get Born Again next time I go to a music shop.
If you like Deep Purple you'll like Born Again.
Apparently Ozzy has choson to retire again, but this time I think he's serious.
Edit: But I bet the other Sabs will continue on without him...can anyone else smell a possible Dio/Martin/Gillan re-union tour in the next few years?

there are so many songs the best ozzy songs are children of the grave, war pigs, and N.I.B. If u wanna hear so other great ozzy songs listen to the wizard and snowblind. My favorite dio sond is heaven and hell that song is awesome. children of the sea and neon knights are also great. and if u have some extra time on your hands listen to E5150 and the mob rules. i listen to tony martin but i dont know any of his songs. ian gillan would have been better if he stoo for more than one album. Well thats it hope u learned something.
^No, not really.
Thanks anyway :)

Dio. :thumb: He was a better singer and a better musician than Ozzy.

True. But I meant when Ozzy was singing in the band compared to when Dio was singing in the band.
Iommi was great with both though.

I dont like Dio's stuff with sabbath as much as Ozzy's stuff. While he may be a better singer, I think Ozzy's voice showcased what Sabbath was and is, better than Dio.

It's all really stupid. I like Sabbath more than Maiden, but I think Maiden handled it pretty well. And anyway, it's not like Geezer and Iommi and Bill Ward or even Ozzy were having people do that. Just some other idiots.

08-24-2005, 01:23 AM
Ive said it before(mabe not in here) but ill say it again. I hate Sharon, everyone says to me that Ozzy sold out, but he didnt, sharon sold him out, and gave Kelly a record deal, now who the **** does that?
lightningmetal666
08-24-2005, 01:28 AM
I don't see what the problem is all about. Sharon has always been pretty mouthy.
Like the time that some tabloid was talking a bunch of crap about her family and she cursed them up one side and down the other.
Kinda funny, after she stormed out of the room, she came back a few minutes later 'cuz she forgot her purse.
rippa32
08-24-2005, 01:44 AM

rippa32
08-25-2005, 06:09 AM
Doubt or hope?
I think they should abandon any plans for making a new album and re-master the post-Ozzy albums in a similar way they did for the The Black Box.
Ozzy's voice is too screwed up at the moment for him to sing on a new album, Dio is happy with his band at the moment, Tony Martin has said he will not work with Sabbath ever again, Ian Gillan is with Deep Purple (I think?) and Glen Hughes is happy with his solo band.
I heard that Ozzy was working on a new solo album anyways, which is what stopped them doing a new album 5 years ago.

That is true, but Geezer has said he's not really interested in doing a new Sabbath album because they spend so long writing the songs these days, he prefers going into a studio with enough riffs to do some songs...and just record an album in no more than 2 weeks.

I would love a new ozzy solo album (speaking of which why can i only find the ****ty 1995 remarsterd version of 'ultimate sin'!?!?!?)
But sabbath shouldnt get him back for one...wow they should get marco from Nightwish for the next album :D
For some reason when i listen to 'I' from dehumanizer and he says i am giant, i'm a monster, breaking windows in houses
i always think he says 'i am gaint, im a monster, breaking wind in houses'
now i have an erge to go on a dio buying binge, but i can't afford to take money away from what i will need to get to dragonforce (aswell as eating and ****)
rippa32
08-26-2005, 05:20 AM
No offence as Dragonforce is a great band but Dio has a much better voice.
Wait a few weeks, Holy Diver is being remastered sometime towards the end of September.
Also, Ozzy has had The Ultimate Sin deleted from his back catalogue, so you'll only find either original copies or the '95 remasters.

I think that Greatest Hits was the first Sabbath record I listened to, 'til my Dad gave me all the albums (from BS to NSD!)

Also, don't triple post again, especially not in some of the bigger threads. You'll get reported then slapped with a 1 day ban from Ken.
//
Mob Rules - Slightly weaker than Heaven and Hell IMO, a few good songs but it tends to lack that same spark that H&H had.
Live Evil - One of my fave. Sabbath albums. Everything about it is spot-on perfect. Apart from the fact that I had to edit out all of Fluff and a large chunk of E5150 to make it fit onto just one cd (I copied it from vinyl).
Paranoid on vinyl - That was the only album out of the Ozzy era that my Dad didn't have on vinyl, he had it in cassette tape instead. He's got the song Paranoid on 7" single somewhere.

Next time I get bored (probably in about an hour or so) I'll take a picture of everything I have linked to Black Sabbath (vinyl, cd's, tour programmes etc...)

It was only a sample, you can get it here: http://home.swipnet.se/sabbath83/
then go to miscellaneous.
Also I know a website to get live bootlegs. I personally dont have any but the range covers every line-up even Ray Gillan. Thats here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/sabbath141/index.html
Gillan has an amazing voice, I have a few live versions of Child in Time and they're spine-chillingly brilliant.
I have a version of War Pigs by him somewhere, and a Black Sabbath version of Smoke on the Water.

Yes Vol 4 is a classic and one of my favourites. My favourite songs are Megalomania, Hole in the Sky and Symptom of the Universe so even though i don't own sabatage i'm going with that album.
I'm torn between Vol.4, Heaven and Hell, Never Say Die, Live Evil, Sabotage and TYR as my fave. album.
I can't choose :(

SBS. Paranoid has a bunch of my favorite songs (War Pigs, Fairies Wear Boots, Planet Caravan) but the album as a whole doesn't measure up.
I'm not the biggest fan of Volume 4 either although I love a lot of the songs on it.
Least favorite album is Technical Ecstacy.
This is only referring the albums I have, which is all the Ozzy-era ones. I've also heard Heaven and Hell about once.

It's about this guy whos rock hero (played by gene simmons) dies and he has one of the only copies of the last album ever made and it talks to him when he plays it backwards, then using it he tries to get his own back on some jocks that always pick on him but then , the record starts killing people when the dead rock star comes back to life (well kind of comes back to life) so the kid has to find a way to stop him before everyones dies a horrible death

Get Live Evil first, its better than Mob Rules.
Mob Rules is a good album, but not quite as hard hitting as Heaven and Hell. Dio does a great job on the Ozzy era songs, it takes a little while to get used to those versions though.

Hehe that is so true. I personally love it how his bass playing is included in songs so much more than most bands, in some remasterings it gets its own speaker channel. Its almost as if its a second ordinary guitar. And he deserves it he really is one of the better ones out there.

Quick Geezer question, does he play with or without a pic?
Here's a quote from http://www.black-sabbath.com/interviews/butler96.html
Geezer was asked about his bass playing.
You're one of the few players who switches between pick and finger style playing. What made you decide to explore both techniques, and how often do you use each of them?
With the Ozzy stuff I use the pick quite a lot, because I'm doing all of Bob Daisley's (Ozzy's original bassist) bass lines, and he plays permanently with a pick, and I think it sounds better with a pick. Plus it's easier to play (laughs)! If you want a more attacking sound or a faster one, if you're playing with your fingers it gets too muffly if you go to fast, so I like to get more definition by using a pick. Because I practice a lot on guitar now, I'm getting used to using a pick. Before I couldn' t do it.
shadow_stalker
09-10-2005, 02:04 PM
Its almost as if its a second ordinary guitar
That is probably because he played rythym guitar before he joined sabbath. is it just me or does the bass lines in sabbath's songs get less and less important (for lack of a better word) as the albums go in. On the first few the bass stands out but it kind of fades into the background as time goes on.
rippa32
09-10-2005, 09:05 PM
Ive noticed that too. Its a shame really. Although you do hear it every now and then, the intro to TV Crimes is a memorable one.

Orchid is OK and it was probably really edgy for a metal band to do a song like that back then, but it's not really that great, especially when compared with the acoustic stuff Opeth or In Flames or someone do, or even with Solitude or Planet Caravan.

Who Are You? is a brilliant song.
Sabotage is possibly their most underrated Ozzy-era album.
Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin do nothing for me.
At all.
Hell, I sometimes go as far as saying they suck.
Im not gunna say anything bad about led zeppelin, or the fact that robert plant looks and sounds gay, but there r tons of other bands id rather listen 2. :thumb:

1. don't double post.
2. to get other than custom avartars just go to the users cp and check avartar option, you can browse an avatar from your pc, just make sure it is small enough and JPG or Gif file.

That Geezer avatar is pretty good. Hey guys, what's your favourite non-ozzy singer? Mine would have to be either Gillan or Dio probably Dio.

Martin all the way, the album Headless Cross is amazing (well not amazing on Dragonforce scale, but still cool)

I just searched google images for children of Bodom, then used photoshop to resize it
I'm too lazy to quote you all, so yeh...
1) Sabbath are the best Hard Rock band ever to come out of Birmingham.
2) Ozzy hardly wrote any of the lyrics in Sabbath, Geezer wrote the majority of them. So you could say that Geezers lyrics pwned Robert Plants lyrics.
3) I'd rate the Sabbath singers in this order, highest to lowest:
Dio
Tony Martin
Ozzy
Ian Gillan
Gillan is at the bottom because his work with Sabbath is nothing compared to his work with Deep Purple.
I say we suggest names for this thread!

Never Say Die! is one of their best.
Paranoid is poo.
Your opinion is completely backwards.
Most of the synth effects sabbath used were incredibly fruity, as well as the fact that using a synth is just retarded in the first place.

His opinion is completely backwards? Noting that it is HIS and not yours. Also noting that paranoid is way too overrated, even though ozzy doesnt seem to realise that.

Actually, YOUR opinion is completely backwards.
'Using a synth is just retarded in the first place.'
That makes you a world class retard. Go castrate yourself right now. I don't want you in my gene pool.

You're a ****ing idiot. I suppose him saying that paranoid was "poo" is so far away from me telling him his opinion is wrong? He could have just said "in my opinion..." or "I don't like paranoid" but instead he chose to state his opinion as fact. You can't hold me at fault for replying in turn. I notice how you also stated your opinion as fact. Jesus, just because you didn't directly say "Your opinion is wrong" doesn't mean you're being any less self-righteous.

Generally, music is played. Try to get your head around that and we can talk.
Edit: On a completely different note, does any else hear constant burping throughtout the song "Hole In The Sky"? Around the 2:05 mark was the most noticeable, I think.
