He's banned, I have no idea why but I'm guessing its a perm seeing as he's not been here for ages.

Ghoul Hunter

Hey, it's Josh (Laiho)

I got banned for some dumb ****, and lately I haven't been coming here much. I usually only post at my forums and sometimes here. I've been kind of pissed lately because I had something happen that made me almost completely unable to play guitar/bass, so i'm just kind of stuck right now not knowing what to do.

But anyway, I guess i'll start posting here more often and in this thread.

Bugger dude.

Isn't it similar to what happened to Dave Mustaine?

Ghoul Hunter
05-28-2005, 11:19 AM
Kind of, i'm basically going the same route as him, but i'm not sure if i'll ever be able to play much again.

You should do it.

So what did Mustaine do to his hand?

Brew
05-30-2005, 10:36 AM
I think he slept on his arm weird, woke up and couldn't move his hand. He trapped a nerve in his elbow I think.

I got back from band practise about half an hour ago, we've got Iron Man, Hole in the Sky and NIB in our set for Battle of the Bands in a few weeks time.

Ghoul Hunter

Can I play bass?

Ghoul Hunter
05-30-2005, 05:09 PM
Sure. I could try guitar, and maybe program the drums.

Brew

Sweet.

Do we actually have a drummer in this thread? How about a vocalist?

Ghoul Hunter
05-30-2005, 06:01 PM
shadowstalker plays drums.

Vocals I may be able to do, but I doubt I could sound like Ozzy at all.

Brew
05-30-2005, 06:26 PM
Who says we're doing an Ozzy song? :p

Ghoul Hunter
05-30-2005, 06:27 PM

I may be able to do Dio song alright, if we do Dio era.

Endless Obsession
05-30-2005, 06:34 PM
If you guys want a chance at winning, i suggest going with a Ozzy era song, only because u want the people to recognize it, but you dont want Iron Man or something that is way played out.

RustedPieces
05-30-2005, 06:47 PM
I'd like to hear you guys do Sabbra Cadabra. That would be cool.

Brew
05-31-2005, 03:47 AM
I can play Sabbra Cadabra.

The Warning would be good to do, I can play that.

Iron Man is easy.

Ghoul Hunter
05-31-2005, 03:49 AM
Hmm.

Brew
05-31-2005, 03:51 AM
i_am_jimmy_page can play drums, I think. Not sure how he'd record them though.

Ghoul Hunter
05-31-2005, 03:52 AM
I have no problem programming them, it's just i've never tried covering the drums in a song, so i'm not sure how hard it is.

Brew
05-31-2005, 03:56 AM
Ideally if we want it to sound good, the drums + bass would need to be recorded at the same time, If we programmed the drums first, then layed the bass over it, the guitar could then be done with the vocals being last.

Ghoul Hunter
05-31-2005, 03:58 AM
True, but the bass and drum parts could be mixed so they sound alright.

Brew
05-31-2005, 04:03 AM
Aye.

So...when do we need to choose a song + get it all done?

Ghoul Hunter
05-31-2005, 04:05 AM
Hmm, i'd say as soon as possible, that way we wouldn't be pushed for time, but i'm sure they'll announce the deadline soon.

Brew
05-31-2005, 04:13 AM
Okie.

If we could get a guitarist to do The Warning, that would be really good.

Unless they set a limit on song length, that would suck.

Ghoul Hunter
05-31-2005, 04:21 AM
I can try to learn The Warning.

EDIT: Maybe not. :-/

I reckon your singer doesn't like his voice cos it's too good and he can't sing like that! Always easier to say "Nah, I don't really like that" than "I can't do it "

I spend most of my time playing Nightwish stuff - that and old Dio. I am by no means the greatest drummer, (even if I were I would never say so) but I can hold down a beat, do some double bass pedalling and have a pretty good repertoire of fills. When you say record, we have an old analogue 8 track that we use - I intend to go digital very soon. :)

Sorry about the delay in replying - I had to go off and fix a bed! Yes, really. And almost ended my drumming career in double-quick time too - nearly had my index finger torn from the knuckle by the chuck key. I am now sporting a large plaster over a deep gash in a painfully swollen 1st knuckle. Such is life. :upset:
It doesn't sound like it at pres - unless anyone knows how to convert stuff on analogue tape to something digital that a computer can upload. Makes me wish I'd done something about a soundcard and Cubase quicker.

Cubase is pwnage, if anyone has it it'd be a real help for programming the drums, I can do it easily.

Depending on how long we have to do this cover project, I'm back at school on the 20th of this month so I can spend my free lessons in the music tech room programming the drums providing I can get a tab/score. I could even record the bass at school.

So I've had an idea for our cover...

Instead of do The Warning...why not do Heaven and Hell, the version thats on Live Evil?

We could do it how they do it, play a chunk of H&H, then part of Sign of the Southern Cross, then back into H&H. If we really wanted we could finish it with Paranoid.

That'd clock in at easily 25mins, if we pull it off well we'd win for sure amirite?

Or

We could do the Sign of the Southern Cross/Heaven and Hell/Paranoid medley as found on Live Evil, that'd be good.

Yes, yes I would.

You want to know why?

Because it has Black Sabbath written on it.

Therefore, it is a Black Sabbath album, not a Dio album.

Ozzy was to be fair, a joke. He hardly wrote any of the songs, leaving it to Geezer/Iommi/Ward, in the later stages of the Ozzy years he just turned up and sang what was given to him. If Sabbath isn't Sabbath without Ozzy, why did he lost interest in the later years leading to him being sacked? They needed to get rid of him, badly.

Aeon: Heaven and Hell is hardly overrated, Paranoid is far more overrated. Hell, the title song is nothing but a filler track written in a 5-minute lunch break.

That is probably due to drugs and the fact that Tony was controlling everything about Sabbath. I think it was geezer that said that he was scared of getting booted out of sabbath so he never said anything when ozzy was fired or even when Tony took centre stage.

Yeah I think so it was just a small one. Anyhoo apparently during Into The Void Ozzy started singing a verse from Electric Funeral.

Don't hare him, hate his vocal style, that annoying high pitched thing pisses me off.

 At least he did it here and not at download. But then again Iommi always has that expression on his face.

lol I suppose. I once heard a story about some guy who said Iommi looks Italian, and Iommi knocked him out.

Anyone know the names of the rhythm guitarist and saxaphone player that played for sabbath during the earth days?

I've got no idea, I could look it up though.

FunFact: Ozzy didn't play harmonica on Never Say Die!, someone else did. If anyone has the cd and the notes credit Ozz for the harmonica they're wrong. :)

I came about <---> that close to going to the secret show, but I wasn't allowed because it was 4 days before my Physics AS.

Hey look, its another Size 7 post about our covers!

'sup.

Ok...we still haven't really gotten our arses in gear for this, I'm guessing that I'm being left to choose the song(s) so...we'll rip-off the Iron Maiden thread and do about 4 or 5.

Sound good?

If any of you guys want to do drums/vocals post here quick, otherwise I'll do them (drums) on Cubase when I go back to school in about a weeks time.

Songs, in order.

Heaven and Hell/Paranoid ( )
NIB
Iron Man
The Warning (only a small chunk of it)

So there we have it.

I think i_am_jimmy_page is doing guitars, but if anyone of you more regular folk want to do it then that should be alright I guess...

Anyway, discuss.

Im not really sure when they played it says their names in either the reunion album cover or their old manager says it on the interview with him on vol 1 dvd.
