View Full Version : Rock and Metal's Black Sabbath Thread
Off the top of my head, I'll probably put these songs on Disc 1:
Black Sabbath
Planet Caravan
Solitude
After Forever
Hole in the Sky
Sabbra Cadabra
Who Are You?
Air Dance
Gypsy
Its Alright
War Pigs
Swinging the Chain.
Groovey.

Why the name change n00b?
So I made Black Sabbath Mix - Disc 1.
It has 15 tracks...
1. Black Sabbath
2. Air Dance
3. Tomorrow's Dream
4. Solitude
5. After Forever
6. Gypsy
7. Swinging the Chain
8. Supernaut
9. It's Alright
10. NIB
11. Sabbra Cadabra
12. Under the Sun
13. Megalomania
14. Hole in the Sky
15. Fluff.
Discuss, if you want.

My suggestion, get an MP3 player.
My answer:
I'm too poor :(
And before you say it:
My cd player is too oldskool to work with mp3 cd's :(

Yeh, I don't really want to carry around all 14 albums though whenever I take my cd holding device out with me, I want room for some of my other cd's.

Sabbath made me get into bass. I idolize Geezer for his impeecable bass playing and lyrics. Fave songs in order:
Paranoid
Ironman
Black Sabbath
The Wizard
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Fairies Wear Boots
War Pigs
Children Of The Grave
Evil Woman
That was predictable,
I can't stand Faries Wear Boots, personally.

At the risk of sounding like a stereotype, it's missing a lot without a handful of tracks from 'Paranoid' (unless, understandably, you want to have that CD on you at all times). Plus 'Into the Void,' 'Sweet Leaf,' and 'Wheels of Confusion'...and maybe 'The Wizard.' I think you definitely need a second Ozzy disc.

Who Are You,
hmm, haven't actually decided on my opinions on that song yet.
Agreed. It's just plain weird, at best. At its worst, it's an album filler. :p Still, it's Sabbath.
I will always love Soundgarden's rendition of "Into the Void". They are the only other band that could pull that off and still sound like themselves. That song was, is, and always will always be remembered for its sheer innovation. I can actually say that it's my all-time fave Sabbath song.
I also love "Snowblind", "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"(the whole CD, really), "Fairies Wear Boots", "Hand of Doom", "Electric Funeral", "Wasp/Behind the Wall of Sleep/Bassically/N.I.B" medley, "Wicked World", "Solitude", "Children of the Grave(I love that thwackety-thwack attack of Geezer Butler's bass)", "Cornucopia", and "Wheels of Confusion".

The best Dio album to get would be Live Evil, that way you get picks from Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules and stuff from the Ozzy years.
Good songs by Dio in Sabbath:
Die Young
Neon Knights
TV Crimes
I
Computer God
The Sign of the Southern Cross
Heaven and Hell
Mob Rules
Over and Over
I, TV crimes, Heaven and hell & computer god are the only Dio songs from that list I've heard, theyre great.

Parents.

Really? My parents hate it. I got into them through some guy from school who has the best of.

03-30-2005, 05:52 AM
I heard Paranoid so borrowed the album off a friend.
I got into Sabbath the same way I got into any band, mostly word of mouth.
If they were aparently good, then I bought the most critically acclaimed album (and we all know what that is:p)
Plus, I used to be at my uncles a lot as a kid, and he would alway be playing the debut, so I borrowed it off him and loved it.

I don't even remember how I got into Sabbath
But I can't really imagine life without them.
Okay Ill get Ride the Lightning, thanks. Back to Sabbath, does anyone know what the Black Sabbath Story Part 1 DVD is like?
Its only worth buying for the videos, the highlight being Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
Also you get to hear about 23 seconds of The Rebel, which I have saved on my pooter somewhere, there may be a small sample of A Song For Jim, but I'm not sure.
If you really want a good DVD about the story of Sabbath, get the Last Supper.
Oh yeh - The Black Sabbath Story part 2 was horribly rushed and only worth buying for the videos, the one for...Headless Cross (I think) is pretty funny.
I got into Sabbath after I saw Ozzy at the Ozzfest in 2002, I borrowed all the albums upto Never Say Die! off my Dad then got myself into the post-Ozzy stuff last summer...possibly the summer before.
****, I just read this.
I read that awhile ago, if there isn't going to be another Sabbath album with Ozzy, that leaves the door open for a Tony Martin re-union, or even a Dio re-union which is highly unlikely.
