View Full Version : Gig Diary: Entries
Whenever any of you go to a gig you can post a diary entry about the gig, what happened what the band was like etc. It can be when you see a band or when you play. It means we can share information about good live bands and the comings and goings of our lives.
We're back in action, that above paragraph was from Wiley Willy in the original thread. Great idea, it's been slow lately but let's see if we can get this thing going.
Here's the last review in the original thread, done by Sk8SkaNJ. I'll post it on his behalf:

October 15th BB King's, NYC - Bouncing Souls/Dillinger Four/Strike Anywhere/Avail
The Soviettes - This band was horrible. All girl band with crappy vocals. Me and my friend have this on going joke about how when they were singing the word "Angela" we just like scream incoherently "Heey Yay yia" and they sounded the same.
Nore More Black - Not my thing, so I just sat down.
Strike Anywhere - Good as usual, but probably one of the worst set list I've seen them play.
Dillinger Four - I love this band. Awesome show, funny as hell. They gave out free nachos.
Avail - I'm not into them, they wouldn't be bad if they didn't have that retard always runing around on stage.
Bouncing Souls - Probably one of the best setlists I've seen them play and Pete wasn't drunk tonight which is odd considering he's been drunk at the past 2 times I've seen them. Played all the good songs, plus a few golden oldies.

( i forget there name)/wensday night heros/ the casualties
Venue- The concert was at a shifty place called the wharehouse in calgary. you had to enter threw a back alley downtown.
The first band had a chick lead singer, sucked, didnt really watch.
Wensday night heros - awsome band from edmonton, fast street punk, great guys.
The casualties - met with everyone before they played, played a awsome set, better than the other times i had seen them play. After the show they came outside and met with fans again for about 40 min. Great show. only 13$ canadian.
ps jorges hair fell down which ruined it.

October 11th 9 30 Club, Washington DC – Three/Underoath/Coheed & Cambria
Three – Absolutely an amazing band. I don’t know if I would call them punk rock or any of these bands punk rock but still. Three has two drummers. On their last song both drummers soloed for about 5 minutes. It was really cool. And then they started hitting each others symbols (they were sitting next to each other). One drummer did a solo with cowbell and everyone was like “MORE COWBELL!”.
Underoath – This band was a weird band. They put up a banner with a girl with an oxygen mask on. The keyboardist was annoying he would just jump up and down and try to be cool. The drummer and the lead singer shared vocals. The drummer had a high voice and the singer just screamed the whole time and I couldn’t understand what he was saying.
Coheed & Cambria – During Underoath we saw Claudio (singer) on the balcony and everyone was waving at him. He looked tired/pissed but idk why. When they got on stage they were pretty good. Everyone was jumping around and stuff. Claudio is a really cool guy.
Again I don’t think these bands fit into the “punk” rock category and none of these bands are AWESOME. Except maybe Three.

I'll just post the last show I went to:
Stiff Little Fingers - October 7th
I got there just as the support band, Huron, was starting their set. Musically they were fine but they were incredibly bland. Every song sounded like a different band but they were all horribly generic even down to the title. They'll probably be the next big thing.
In between sets they played this weird stuff that sounded like Devo covering classic punk songs.
It was a while before SLF came on and the place filled up considerably. When they finally came on the the atmosphere was great. The band played well with Jake Burns telling little stories about each song before he played them. Before Beirut Moon he talked about a soldier who was going to Iraq he met in a pub the night before whose opinion on George Bush was "He's the dumb ****ing cunt that's gonna get us all killed." That got one of the loudest cheers. The other came from his declaration before 'Doesn't Make It Alright', "I could tell you all about how I slaved over this song getting every word perfect but I won't, because I stole it off THe Specials" and his speech about Joe Strummer before Strummerville. The guitarist sang one song but all I could remember was that he looked just like Compo from Last Of The Summer Wine. Bruce Foxton looked really old and seemed to be enjoying himself but besides Jake Burns the most entertaining one was the Drummer who seemed to have 4 extra cymbals on his kit just to make his drum solos look cooler which they did. He had a great solo before the quiet section in Barbed Wire Love where he went absolutely crazy before ending with a quiet little 'Ting' on one of the cymbals and a stupid grin on his face. They played Suspect Device and then left before 2 encores with the final one predictably being the crowd pleasing Alternative Ulster. They played great. The only annoying thing was that I could dance due to my broken collar bone. I went home with a t-shirt and a big grin on my face.

Dropkick Murphys, 10/16
From the beginning it started off great, I was walking into the venue (Granite State Room, UNH) and no one else was out there, except for the DKM guitar player "the kid" or Marc Orell, so I said hi to him. Stephanie Doherty was also out there with him. And then I went inside, the show started, I got in the front row, and it was amazing, the energy was so high and DKM gave their all. When they played "kiss me I'm ****faced" Tim Brennan took over on bass for Ken Casey and he crowd surfed, I got to hold him up. During the song "the Dirty Glass" Ken Casey forgot to start singing, so then in a later line instead of singing what he was supposed to he sang "I don't know what was going on, I must have been thinking about the game". Because the red sox are playing tonight. Then for the last song "Skinhead on the MBTA" they brought everyone up on stage, like they always do, and I got up there and was right next to James Lynch(their other guitar player) and I got one of Ken Casey's picks. As if it couldn't get any better, Scruffy Wallace (their piper) was standing right beside me at the merchindise table, so I started talking to him about Ryan Foltz and his new bands, The GC5 and Motel Blonde. So that ended, and he signed my hat. They on the way out I also saw Al Barr (their singer) and James Lynch again, and they also signed the hat.
The setlist was pretty good, they were missing some of their best songs, but it was great no less. The sound was perfect as well. Loud as ****.
So overall it was a **** good night.
I've tried to work out the playlist, and I've got all the songs, but they aren't all in order.

Bands: Dan Potthast, Ted Dancin' Machine, The Planet Smashers, Mustard Plug, Catch 22.
So I get there and it is packed, then again it was a really small venue. Portland's ska scene is better than I thought, seeing as the past two ska shows I've been to have had 70-120 people each show. Ok, so after about ten minutes Dan Potthast (MU330 lead singer) comes out with his acoustic guitar. This guy is really cool and funny, and since he's a one mand band he goes out in the middle of the crowd and starts talking to us and playing. He works really well with the crowd and plays greatly, I really wish I could've seen him with MU330 when they came two or three months ago. He played two MU330 songs and some other random songs he wrote, one about his Catholic teacher-nun-thingy that said girls get pregnant if they're out when the streetlights are on and one about his 90 year old neighbor in St. Louis that tried to kill himself. His set wasn't very long but it was funny and entertaining.
After Dan TDM made their way through the crowd, that being my third time seeing them, and it was just as good or better than the other two times I've seen them. During the first song I was on the edge of the pit then I got kind of bumped among them so I started skankin with them, then moshed with all these tall dudes during the harder part of the song. I did that for two more songs then got a little tired so I stood towards the back for the rest of the set. Good set as usual, always a pleasure seeing them live.
Next comes The Planet Smashers. Starts off really good with Life of the Party, everyone's skanking. Their set just keeps getting better, despite the fact that it was ****ing hot and I was covered in sweat, whether it was mine or the people next to me I don't know. The best part was when they were playing Surfing in Tofino and got everyone to sit down, then we all counted up from one to ten and jumped up together. ****ing awesome. This was definitely the best band of the night, and I'd love to see them again. Oh yeah, during one of their songs I went outside because I was extremely hot and sweaty, and two guys were talking to me about my Link 80 shirt, they were pretty surprised because they said that's the first time they've ever seen someone witha Link 80 shirt. Yay Portland Link 80 fans
I could have sworn the Smashers said Catch 22 were after them but it was Mustard Plug. I wasn't expecting much from them because the songs I've listened to weren't that good. But what do I know, they were actually good live! I really liked the first song, very good skankin music. They were really good with the crowd, lots of shouting in unison and just general stuff that makes a band really good live. I was really hot and tired again so I went outside as the started a Specials cover, Too Much Too Young. I was right outside the door so I could hear it pretty well and it was an excellent cover. Unfortunately I had to leave over half way through their set but the show was the best show I've been to and totally worht the 12 dollars.
What's even cooler about the show was that there was no stage.

Probably the least favorite one I went to this month, but a good show nonetheless.
From First To Last
Heh, when I heard they would be opening, I knew that they would be harrassed to say the least. Not the right venue at all. I don't like this band at all, but unlike others there, I had the common courtesy not to call them gay or fag or something like that. I thought they were alright live. And they dealt with the audience's comments very well in my opinion. After a bad response after one emo song, the vocalist said they would do it up more emo for the next song (which they did) since the audience enjoyed it so much. And on their last song, he said they had 15 more left, then all the drunk emo-haters went crazy and started screaming and it was pretty **** funny.
Rise Against
The main reason I came. They are one of my new favorite bands. I saw them at Warped Tour and this time around, their performance was a lot better. The vocalist actually played some guitar on a few songs this time around. They are excellent live and got the crowd going. The only complaint from me is that their set seemed really really short. I think it was considering the time alotted for Bad Religion which I will talk about............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .........now
Bad Religion
These guys' set was 2 and a half hours long. I guess that's what you get when you see a band that has been around so long. First time I had ever seen them live and I was not disappointed. I never really got into Bad Religion, but seeing them live was something else. They covered their career pretty evenly I would say. Of course they played "LA is Burning" and a few other new ones, but they evened out their old stuff and their new.
All in all it was a pretty good show. I recommend it fully to fans of Rise Against or Bad Religion. From First to Last fans were singled out almost as much as the band itself, so I would wait for them to come around some other time.

Minus One/Sidekick/4ft Fingers - 21st October
Minus one - really good local band, anger-fuelled dirty punk. really good set, got the crowd really going for it considering they were the first band on. also i kinda know their guitarist so they gave a shout out to me
Sidekick - better than your average punk-pop band, all the way from NYC. didn't have as good a crowd reaction as Minus One, but still fun nonetheless
4ft Fingers - headlining the night, the crowd were pumped right from the start. they opened with Emergency Manouvre, which is one of my personal favourites so i was ****in' stoked! did a solid set of brilliant songs, ****ing LOADS of people crowd surfing, moshing, dancing on stage, generally just having a good time! they started ending their set with Last Man Standing which is my favourite song by them, then that song about boobies, then finished with Brickwall which is a downright brilliant song.
all in all, a good night!

From First to Last - Effing horrible band. I wish I came later than I did. I heard someone say the vocalist was like 16. He was macking it to some hot chicks though.
Rise Against - Played well, good setlist. The crowd seemed to only know the new stuff really. Everyone except the singer didn't seem to into though, but then again the crowd sucked (My theory is the band only plays aswell as the crowd).
Bad Religion - The crowd was horrible. Setlist was ok, to much new stuff and not enough old stuff. Also Brian butchered some songs in my opinion with the solos. They did have a good stage presance. Sometimes when watching Greg G. some things he did kind of reminded me of how Jello would act on stage, but to a lessar degree. There were so many retarded people at this show; I wanted to fight all of them.

Right, this was at rock city the other day and it was heavy. First band up were the mingers, started of with the wise crack 'come on guys, get down the front, pretend your at a gig or something.' which i though was funny anyway. Pretty good band, the singer was a woman and she was pretty crazy seemed to like my friend, kept sticking the mike in his face cause i think he felt intimitaded lol. Good guitar, excellent bass, good music although the drummer looked constpated. 7/10
Next up was bosseye. these guys were so good it was unbeliable, theyve just got a new singer WHO RAPS, and to all you noobs that say rap is bad, this isnt. The sax was really great, quite jazzy, and i managed to get a little pit going but this guy pushed me onto the stage so i just danced on there with the sax lady for abit. 9/10
Then it was the freaks union. OMG! How good can u get, these guys are immense at everything they do, guitairst is so good its amazing, and they had these two punks that just follow them to all there gigs on the stage giving it some shouting. Definatly the best band there. 10/10
The headliners, the filaments, were really good. Men of the law was my fave, and the pit was absolutly amazing, but they only played 6 songs. :amaze: which was abit gay. Bastard Coppers was great, alot of '**** the pigs' going on. It was quite ironic cause a cop gave us directions to the place :naughty: lol. 8/10
if anyone is going to the last three way dance gigs good look to you, it owns.
9/10

I missed the first band because I was late.
THe first band I saw was a band called Nagatha Krusti featuring Ross Noble in a skin-tight see-through vest and Big Daddy in Kiss facepaint on Drums. They were good musicians, particularly the lead guitarist and the bassist and their songs were okay. They were ska-core with some rapping vocals. They sound a lot like King Prawn in my opinion but not as good. 7/10
Sidekick were next. They took awhile to get going but they played well. Their songs were a lot simpler than Nagatha Krusti's but they played a lot tighter. The highpoint of their set was when they got some of the 4ft Fingers guys on stage and covered Take 'Em All. I seemed to be the only person there who knew the song. For their last song the got some other guy on stage to sing "Breaking The Law" 8.5/10
4ft Fingers played well. I didn't really know any of their songs but my favourite one was some ska song they played. I still can't mosh because of my shoulder which pissed me off as the pit looked great fun. The only reason they score lower than Sidekick is that they didn't play any **** Sparrer covers. 8/10
On a side note I was really pissed off that The Damned weren't playing Oxford this year (particularly as they played last year and I missed it) but while I was at the gig I spotted a sign by the merchandise stand saying "The Damned + 4ft Fingers, 18th November at The Zodiac" so it looks like they're playing an unpublicised gig.

Hotcakes - f'kin awesome. The guy was wearing just whitey tighties and he was throwing random crap at people, and they even covered the Misfits song Die, Die My Darling. They were hilariously good.

xOne Wayx - Best band ever. Opened and closed with the same song (GENERIC HARDCORE SONG TWICE IN ONE SET) Covered 7 Seconds - Young Till I Die.
Scream Hello! - Awesome Pop-Punk/Indie band, played alot better than the last time I saw them. I wish they played their 7 Seconds covers.
I skipped some crappy band to buy the Casey Jones split with Traitor.
Marathon - Awesome, awesome band. Lead singer was very....well crazy like he was on meth. New tunes sound awesome.
Crime in Stereo - A lot better than last time I saw them, they gained a fan base since then too.
Ensign - Gorrila Biscuits cover, good set list. Played more off of Direction of Things to Come than I expected. Dove on top of people during Never Give In

Thursday 11th November, Rockers Live, Taunton. (this was the show i organised etc)
Vertigo - first band on, not bad but crowd reaction was poor, and they didn't really look into it.
Andy Fiction - ****ing AWESOME band, have loved these guys since the first time i saw them and they're pretty good friends of mine, so i got them to play. excellently fast and furious 'humanitarian hardcore punk', check out www.purevolume.com/andyfiction for some of their new songs!
Weapons Of Brass Destruction - again, wickedly amazing skacore band, also pretty good friends of mine. this was the second from last night of their tour, and it ****in went off! our tiny local venue was packed to the brim, and had the first ever circle pit in there! too bad the people who own the venue are old and fat and think skanking is violent so stand RIGHT in the middle of the crowd and hold people away from each other. they even kicked my friend out for skanking with his girlfriend! but WoBD played a ****ing tight set, played their usual 45 min set in half an hour so the songs were hyper fast and energetic, just relentless dancing!
my band were supposed to be playing (not sounding up my own *** but about 50% of the people in the venue were there for us, as the majority of people there were from my college!), but our trombonist and drummer had a college concert on the same night. they told us they'd be free by 9.30 which would have meant we could play, but they didn't ****ing turn up til 10.15 so we didn't have time. anyway yeah, it was an awesome night, WoBD slept at my house afterwards, we stayed up until the early hours of the morning just drinking the night away, they're such a ****ing laugh it was wicked!
i saw them aswell, was on the guestlist for the show

[/B]Tuesday, October 19, 2004 The Blood Brothers/Against Me!/True North
Venue - Logan Square, Chicago
True North - Gainesville band that opened the show. Played a very short set that seriously lacked the energy of the other bands. After four songs and 3 lectures on the importance of voting, they surrendered the stage to The Blood Brothers.
The Blood Brothers - Definitely the best set of the night. Although most of the show was dedicated to material from the new album Crimes, they did play several songs from former albums. Highlights would include Cecilia At The Silouhette Salloon, F'ing's Greatest Hits, Beautiful Horses, and being in the front pit when Johnny dived off the stage.
Against Me! - Although not as crazy as The Blood Brothers, there was still a ton of energy in the set. It was more the type of act that would feature chanting instead of moshing and crowd surfing. They played a lot of Eternal Cowboy and Reinventing Axel Rose. Highlights include Baby, I'm An Anarchist, Walking Is Still Honest, Sink Florida Sink, Pints Of Guiness, I Still Love You Julie, and seeing Warren's beard.

Bad Religion/The Vandals/Flogging Molly - Warped
Flogging Molly - awsome stage prefomance, entertaining all the way around
The Vandals - good setlist, got the crowd into it. but everyone was bigger than me in the pit.
Bad Religion - great list, great crowd, great band.

11/11 Saratoga Winners. Latham, New York.
Bands: Moments in Grace, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Endicott, Alexisonfire, Hot Water Music.
Moments In Grace - Didn't really like them, I dont think anyone did. Just bad stage presense, no movement at all.
Planes Mistaken For Stars - They were okay, more on the metal side, but okay. The guitarist lost his shirt somewhere like when I f'ucking blinked or something.
Endicott - F'ucking Amazing! I think someoen made a thread about them, and then I downloaded their album. I fell in love with them, and then to my surprise, they play! The crowd was so into this, and they were making fun of Alexisonfire so bad for being Canadian. Great band check em' out. The singer was crazy, I loved it. When the pit would open up, you would literally ride the people infront of you back.
Alexisonfire - Amazing show, played great songs. They did a pretty good cover of someone in the beginning where the guitarist was on vocals. The first song was "Accidents". The part where they chant "Lets Redefine!" was so awesome, everyone was into it. My glasses fell off in the pit and I found them at the end of the set completely destroyed. Then at the end of the set they went from "Counterparts and Number Them" right into ".44 Caliber Love Letter" f'ucking awesome set.
Hot Water Music - Meh. Didn't stay. Mommy was waiting, and I hate them.

11/18 | Bad Religion/Rise Against | Majestice Ventura Theater
From First to Last
These guys were really bad. Luckily they only played a 20 minute set, I only watched 5 of it, but it sounded terrible.
Rise Against
I was equally excited to see RA as I was Bad Religion. They came on stage with great energy, starting with "1000 Good Intentions" The entire set was really good, even considering Tim was "sick as a dog" as he put it. They played all the songs I expected of them a lot from RPM a few from "The Unraveling" and about 4-5 from "Siren Song", Favorites: State of the Union: They had all the people down front going crazy, Black Masks and Gasoline: They ended their set with this song, a great song to go out with. 10/10 performance from them, and they say they are coming back to California in February.
Bad Religion
The main event. They started out with "Intro/Sinister Rouge" my favorite song off "Empire". The first half of the set or so was newer stuff from "Empire" and "Process", (including "Let Them Eat War" with Tim from RA doing the rap) all good songs but they really got going during the second half. All the oldies and goodies "Generator" "Modern Man" "Stranger than Fiction" "Suffer" "21st Century Digital Boy" among many others. They walked off with the crowd screaming, to come back and play "We're All Gonna Die" among others and ended with "Sorrow". All in all a really good set, would have like a little more older stuff and some off "Gray Race" but it was a great set anyway. Also a really great crowd. Favorites: Generator, 21st Century..., Stranger than Fiction, **** Armageddon this is Hell
10/10 as well. One of the best shows I have been to.

DePaul University McGraw Hall Room 130 (a class room hah) - Sometime in October
The Few And The Proud (Not the marines) - Played a half of a set, a bunch of guys from a bunch of different local bands, played some rocking sXe music... lamest name ever.
Razzle Dazzle - Another Horrible band name, I saw them come out with tight jeans and cut off hair... and I was like "this is going to suck balls"... but it didn't... they were pretty good, especially for a band named Razzle Dazzle. I bought there demo it was on tape, crunk.
Double Crossed - Local straight edge hardcore, these guys rule. http://www.doublecrossed.2ya.com/ check it out boi!
Dead Stop - Rocking hardcore band from Belgium. Lead singer was going nuts... Covered Bad Brains and Minor Threat (In My Eyes) crowd went nuts for IME. I suggest checking these guys out if you like Black Flag or Minor Threat like 82 hardcore/punk.
86 Mentality - Covered the 4 skins. Um... They were good? Yeah.

Bad Religion,Rise Against and From First to Last 11/14/04 at The Warfield in San Francisco
FFTL:Very funny set. Not a good thing. They almost killed each other with their instruments. The only redeeming quality was I called the last song(Ride the Wings Pestilence) and called that they would do synchronized sideways headbanging
Rise Against:Brillant. I was vaguely suprised they didn't play Give It All last but who cares.
Bad Religion: The epitome of greatess. Great set list. Opened with Sinsiter Rouge closed with Sorrow. Big thing Brett was there. He isn't doing the entire tour so I go a little worried.

That BR and Rise Against show sounded mazing.
I went to see the Vandals on Friday at The Astoria in London. The place was pretty empty which was suprising as they had sold it out completely about a year and a half ago.
The God Awfuls were the first band up and played for about 25minutes. They were pretty sh!t but there was some prick who was trying to abuse them the whole time.
Then Audio Karate played who were worse and i didn't like them at all. I had to endure them for about 30minutes.
The Vandals came on and played for about an hour. They played a good set list with all the favourites including: Ape Drape, It's a Fact, Pizza Tran, Disproportioned Head, Marry me, 543210-1. They ended with I Have A Date whcih was the best song they played. Drummer Josh Freese played an amzing drum solo after Pizza Tran, anbd he must have been knackered after the set as they played very fast. Their front man was pretty funny and any between song breaks weren't dull at all.

Dead Stop
rad band.
Last week the champion/comeback kid tour came through norway (and brought snow, those ****s). Good ****-
PURIFIED IN BLOOD - A band from my hometown here, on the westcoast. Vegan SXE metal, and they do it better than any other band i have heard. Insane live show, tons of and ****ing TIGHT set. Wicked ****. Didn't cover Chain of Strength though, ****ers. CHECK EM OUT! (http://www.straightedge.nu/purified) Wicked pit.
CHAMPION - Great band, great show. Highlights were the singalongs and the insane pileup, including the vocalist atthe way bottom and the guitarist in there somewhere.
COMEBACK KID - Cool band, insane show. The energy was way up and a lot of kids sang along, which is always rad. Highlights: every ****ing song. This was a sick show, and the pit was where it was at. Kids of every walk of punk/hardcore life united in highfives and stagedives dancing! great evening.

this was the last ever gig one of the 2 main promoting companies near me did, so from the start the atmosphere was awesome + friendly.
first band on were 7 Ages. i'd seen this band before, just your average pop-punk/soft rock band. they're good at what they do, i just don't particularly like what they do!
next up were Weapons Of Brass Destruction. they played in my hometown the night before, and stayed at my house afterwards so this band put me and 2 friends on the guest list which was super cool of them, and they didn't disappoint anyone! they only formed this january, but already have an awesome EP, a hefty gigography and a large fanbase! i was hyped about seeing them again, and they pulled out all the stops to make it a kickass show. bravo, weapons
and on came Encyclopedia! i'd heard very good things about this band, they're not your average band. they're a 2 man electro-pop-punk band, so cheesy it's good (i think that's the idea anyway!). i'd heard some of their stuff on purevolume, but only stayed inside the gig for 3 of their songs, as this chick wanted me to come outside and i had to go down to the garage to get my *** some cider! but they had rave reviews from everyone i spoke to, so must've been pretty special.
Animal Urges were up next, i had never heard of this band and their name sounded lame so i wasn't expecting too much of this band, but **** me, they blew me away! straight up rock 'n' roll band, everyone in the place was ****in Jiving and Dancing and what not, it was absolutely awesome. 'If you wanna be my crazy lover say yeah!' = 'YEAAAAAAAAAH!' from everyone in the crowd!
The Peacocks! to everyone's knowledge, the Peacocks were headlining this night, as that's what it said on the flyers and stuff, but they came on second from last for some reason. still, they were absolutely awesome, (check out the songs 'Older Than Punk' + 'I Can Do A Lot For My Size'), i think punkabilly would be the best way to describe them. they had a wicked stage presence, and again, everyone in the place was dancing.
Adequate Seven have been one of my favourite bands for a long time (since we played with them last Feb), and every time i've seen them they've just got better and better. friday was no exception! they have one of the most intense live performances i've seen, and play THE tightest set ever. 'brass driven hardcore funk punk' is the best description i've heard about them, they have elements of so many different genres it's intense. everyone in the place was dancing like fools but no one cared because they were so ****ing good, i'm gonna say it again but i loved the atmosphere of this show! they had about 20 people onstage dancing, and it's not a big stage!
i'd say this show was one of the best times of my life (partly because i hooked up with a hot chick, and she decided she wanted to stay the night with me :thumb: ) but that's only one of many reasons

Missed the first band Class of Zero because I was stuck at the bar, and I only caught the end of Sepultura, there not really my cup of tea but there was a good pit of headbangers going for them.
Now Motorhead are the loudest band I have ever seen, as soon as they came on the place went wild and never stoped. It was so loud you really couldnt hear Lennys voice over the guitar and drums, which sucked. They rocked through about 15 songs, they didnt play many hits though. Ace of Spades and Overkill were saved for the encore, as well as a ballad which fitted in suprisingly well. Overall it was a great gig, I would recomended paying Lemmy and co a visit next time there near you.

Rivals / Walk Aside / Fiveseven / Jaws of Life / Another Breath
Rivals were great. Local band, ****ing great. Sound kind of like Righteous Jams and other stuff of that sort. I had seen the singer at shows before. Probably the rest of them too, but the singer more notably cause he's faaaat. He is a great singer though.
Walk Aside were the least good band of the night, though they were still really good. Raw hardcore, from somewhere in Quebec.
Fiveseven were great, full of energy. Also from Quebec. Their lyrics seem kind of overdone. Stuff about unity and the scene, it gets old. But a very good performance.
I had heard some songs by Jaws of Life before, one of which they played. They were better than I expected. They're from Montreal I think.
Another Breath of course were good, maybe not as good as I expected. They had a short set, then they did an encore which was definitely the highlight of the night. First they did a cover of Carry On's Waiting On Forever, then they did New Direction by Gorilla Biscuits. Awesome.

Homoplastik-
these guys opened for the briefs. theyre a local italian band (i think) and they totally sucked. good riffs, but the lead singer was totally out of it. he would lay down on the stage and sing; the whole band was totally lifelss
2/5
The Briefs-
****ing incredible. awsome set, cool guys. probably the best live band ive ever seen. the crowd was sooooooooo bad though. they werent into the music at all and there was only like 100 people at the most there. the crowd started throwing ice at them because they were sweating so much and the drummer started throwing his drum sticks back so i got a pair of sticks. i was really impressed with the drummer and how he cansing while he plays some hard beats. best songs were poor and weird, destroy the usa, silvia, and enw shoes

sepultura and motorhead, last night, london.
seplutura ruled when they played the old thrash stuff, and were meh when they played all the ghey newer slow stuff. it was a pretty lame pit too, considering there was about 5 nazi skinheads and loads of beefy metallers in there. or maybe its because i rule.
motorhead came on and every song sound the same (amazing) the only bad point was when they came back for the encore, they did an acoustic song instead of going into over kill or something :s
and they didnt do bomber or motorhead either :(
still great though.

Suicide Machines at the Garage, London (saturday)
Sonic Boom Six- never heard of this band before, but they were pretty good, especially for the first band on. They were a sort of ska/punk/rap mix, and played with good style and energy
7/10
Howard's Alias- local third wave ska-punk band, who are fairly well known despite only having a couple of decent songs. Their set was spoiled slightly by sound problems, and the guitarist snapped a string in the first song. And when they did sort the problems out the singer was determined to try and get the audience to sing every song for him. But their one very good song called Rob Wants You Dead gets them a few marks back.
5/10
Jesse James- Pretty popular yet awful ska-punk band. Few good songs, but to their credit they gave it their best shot on stage, and made every 6 year old in the place wobble around slightly, trying to skank.
Suicide Machines- Played very well, and fast. Lots of excellent songs including No Face and SOS which were their best, and they really got into it. Lots of action, stage diving and a big pit. They finishshed with a stage invasion, that left a bouncer trying to throw people off the stage and failing miserably. The singer was an excellent front man, and they put on a great show.

The Oppressed + Naughty
Clwb ib vor Bach (Cardiff)
First gig ive ever been to on my own, so I was a bit bored at the 2 hour DJ set, slowly gettin drunk and singing to myself. The first band Naughty came on then, I never heard them, but they were average female fronted 77 punk band. Nothing Special.
The venue was very small and there were only about 100 people there max, i think I was the youngest person there by about 15 years. The Oppressed came on and for a first gig in 8 years they were great, they didnt play Fu(k Facism though, but there cover of Skinhead Girl was great. I also spoke to Roddy and he seemed like a very cool dude, but I think i was blabbing crap so he was prob jsut humouring me. The pit was very small and fun, about 3 of us skanking and the older dudes kept shouting 'I still got it!' Roddys voice was great and you could tell he ment every word he shouted. This was well worth a fiver.

Opening Band 1 - Some crappy band with the same breakdown for every song.
Opening Band 2 - I think they were with FSU, nice heavy sound but a little generic. Good if you don't mind generic stuff. Pretty tight band though.
Shot Point Blank - I think that's these guy's name. Awesome awesome hardcore band from Australia. I wish I got a CD of theirs or something, so good. People were going off for this band.
This Means Everything - 14-15 yr olds that play hardcore, the singer (we call this kid mini-mosh) sounds like he could sing for Shattered Realm. Not the best band, but good for their age. Ten Yard Fight cover.
Kids Like Us - Set of the night. Played awesome, so many kids singing along. I'm amazied as to where these kids came from, never seen them before or at the last KLU show.
Casey Jones - Solid set, a little short thought, but then again they're whole discography is under like 20 minutes. Their new guitarist is really ugly. Sorry, just had to share that. Fat Pat (of NLTM and FSU) was heckling CJ their whole set, but all in good fun. People were chanting for them to cover Firestorm, but that didn't happen. I wish they played more.

Brum Academy
Quite Intimate gig. Billy Club was on first, they sounded like a bit more Punkish version of Pantera to me, I werent fussed on em.
Drongos were Good, Big reception cuase they were Home Town Heroes. Most of the crowd went nuts for them.
GBH blew everyone away. They played all there hits and were fast as f*ck, they also covered White Riot! I managed to rob the mic of Colin twice, the first in No Survivors then again in Alcohol. Great gig for an old band.

last night it was my friend's 18th party and she got a load of friends bands to play
Weapons Of Brass Destruction w/ 4 Days Later + Roughdawn
first up were 4 days later... not bad but they covered franz ferdinand songs and didn't have a bassist so weren't really my cup of tea
next was Roughdawn, my friend's band. i'm not really into their sort of music (slightly punky grunge) but they put on a good set, pretty energetic
and last up were WEAPONS! this band have NEVER dissappointed me, and what made this set even better was that it was just a friends band playing to a load of people who all knew each other and just wanted to dance and sing along. their wasn't really a stage so the whole thing was basically crowd participated: rob their singer gave 4 of us his mic for a song, i played bass for a song, everyone was just singing along and having a good time it was awesome.

As Good As Dead - Mini side project of Joey Southside form The Banner to goof around in. Not good, but didn't expect them to be with members being sick and never practicing.
Cannonball/Little Rascals - This bad Punk/Hardcore band. Tried to cover Pantera. Bad. Split a set with Little Rascals, even worse hardcore band.
The Breakout - These guys couldn't play, guiatrist and drummer didn't show. I was going to help fill in, but it didn't end up happening.
Down to Nothing - Solid set, solid band. The only thing I dislike was that alot fo their songs sounded alike.
Outbreak - Played really well live, but like DtN a lot of their songs sounded alike. Awesome sing alongs for them. Covered Bad Brains.
100 Demons - They might be a good band live, but I wouldn't know. To busy fearing for my life. Fight broke out, some did got his *** handed to him, then stomped in the stomach and beaten down some stairs into the basement. FSU broke up the fight. Even though some of these guys are nice, I hate having to fear for my life during a band. Members of Shattered Realm and Blacklisted were in attendance to the show.
Champion - Set of the night, Gold is the only way to describe it. So much fun, awesome dancing. I love posi bands, more than tough guy bands. Covered what I believe to be was Chain of Strength.

xOne Wayx - Best band ever.
Dove on top of people during Never Give In
I searched "Generic Hardcore Song" and found this thread. Fate keeps drawing me to this board.

Lars Fredericksen and The Bastards
Leicster Charlotte
Wow! This may have been the best gig I have ever been too. The Charlotte is quite a small place and the club was packed. The first band was called Deadline, a female fronted standard Oi-Punk band, there were oaky. The next band was Mad Sin, a pyschobilly band with mad hair. Im not a fan of Physcobilly and they did nothin to change that. The opening riff of SPD kicked in and the best set I have ever seen started. It was hot as hell in there and floor was packed tight but that didnt stop some good pits happening. I heard reports that Lars was arrongant onstage but I found him witty and he even dedicated the last song (SKUNX) to Dimebag Darell. All the fave songs were played and even Ross from GBH was in the audience. A truly amazing gig, and its nice to see Lars got rid of his stupid ginger beard.

Flat Earth Society - I love this band. Covered Cromags. Diggin the new tunes. Check them out.

**** i wanted to go to that show, god ****it i hate being grounded. I'm putting all my energy into seeing ska is dead now that both social d shows are sold out

This is a late entry
The Dead Walk - Awesome Newcastle hardcore, they did a YOT cover, check them out
http://www.mp3.com.au/THEDEADWALK/
Hitlist - My favorite Aus HC band, there first time Sydney ****ing awesome, i wish i could find some mp3s for you all, they did a Madball cover
Last Nerve - I'm not much of a fan, they have a pretty good following though so the crowd was going nuts also the drummer from Terror ran out and did a verse with them that guy was incerdible, they did a Judge cover.
Terror - AWESOME! they were playing Young Buck's album before they came out and ripped straight into One With The Underdogs, Scott was a little angry that there was a fence up so he tryed getting us to push it down, we were to weak. Plenty of stage dives over it though lots of kids hitting the floor hard, they turned the power off during Better Of Without You so the guitar player had some friendly words to the guy and they quickly turned it back on. They did no covers.
Madball/ShotPointBlank/Taking Sides on the 20th.

12th Feb- Deadline at the Garage, London
I arrived fairly late as i was in the pub.
Argy Bargy: First i've heard of this band and they were very good. I caught about half of their set and they played very well and tight, and had some excellent guitar solos.
8/10
Dead Pets: Fantastic. Amazing live band who could make almost anyone like them even if they'd never heard them before seeing them. Decent set list, and ended with a great cover of the c'ock sparrer classic We're Coming Back
9/10
Deadline: Brilliant also, played a good setlist, including a fair few new songs off an upcoming release that sounded impressive. Definately worth seeing again, like all the bands i saw.

Rise Against featuring Only Crime, Alexisonfire, Tsunami Bomb
13 Feb. 2005
The Meow Meow, Portland, OR
Only Crime
This band was really good. I had only heard one song of theirs before the show, but I really wish that I knew more of their stuff. The croud was really into them even though I don't think many people had listened to them much before. The energy was really high considering there was hardly anybody was there during the set.
Alexisonfire
The bassist for Alexisonfire got sick the night before and was sent home because he couldn't see. Since they souldn't play, the guitarist played a couple of the bands songs accoustically, and played a couple of covers, of which he only knew one verse or so of each. It wasn't exactly enjoyable, but I couldn't help but feel emapathy for him, and have to give him props because that definitely took balls.
Tsunami Bomb
I hadn't listened to any of their music beforehand, and was really trying to be openminded about them having a female singer. They weren't bad, but weren't great either. They had a couple of catchy songs, but most of it was pretty forgettable. The entire experience for them was pretty much ruined for me when the singer said that if anyone went croud surfing and hit into her, they would be thrown out of the show, and possibly face a lawsuit.
Rise Against
This show could have been in a dirty sewer and it would have been worth it. Rise Against was ****ing incredible. The place completely filled up once they started playing, and the energy was insane. Probably half the croud was singing along the entire time, and their was so much movement that you would be in the middle of the mosh at one minutte, and right in the front row the next. People were crowdsurfing the entire time, and there was an insane amount of stage dives. They opened the set with "To them these streets belong", and "closed" with "Give It All." Tim later came back up for the encore and played "Swing Life Away," then the rest of the band finished with "Black Masks and Gasoline" and then "Heaven Knows." The only disappointment of the whole show was that they didn't play Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated", but regardless, they rocked. hard.

15th Feb- Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, The Garage, London
The Filaments: This is the second time i've seen this band and they are f'ucking amazing. Thhey opened with the classic "Nation" and played a great setlist including the BPC, Punk Unity, Men Of The Law, Victims and Zombie Jail Break, before round off their shamefully short 30 minute set with Bastard Coppers and Sick Joke. The crowd grew as the set went on, after they had began playing to only a handful of people. Those there were singing as loud as they could though, and they will have earned a lot more fans than they went in with
9.5/10
Mad Sin: I haven't heard too much of Mad sin and unfortunately they didn't play any songs i knew. They had a good stage presence, probably mostly because of their huge double bass that was lit up like a christmas tree. They sounded good, nothing special.
6/10
Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards: Made an impressive entrance with all the bastards coming on backwards, before Lars strolled on looking like a mutated bumble bee, with a pink and yellow striped jumper, and yellow sunglasses. As you'd expect, they had an excellent prescence, and the sold out garage responded well. After opening with the brilliant "Dead american" they went on to play a number of favourites including Wine And Roses, Streetwise Professor, 1%, SPD, Army Of Zombies etc. They even managed to bring out special guests, with appearances from the guitarist and singer of the business (whose name i forget), and David courtney.
8/10
A quality show :)

20th February The Toy Dolls
There were only 2 bands. "It's not not" and Toy Dolls. The show started at 8.45 but I arrived there at 9.30 or so. I missed about all the first band but from what I had read of them I didn't really want to see them. They put Green Day's last album while they were changing all the stuff, which made some people angry. Considering that half of the audience were 30 year old people, and on the other half there were lots punks I find it normal. They put the Toy Dolls flag with the guy with sunglasses and a black box where it said "fragile" and "OUR LAST TOUR?" After 30 minutes of waiting they turned down the lights and it started sounding a guitar.
Then the bassist and the drummer entered with the crowd screaming and they took their place and started playing something, then they started like: "Where's Olga?", and suddenly he appeared from inside the box. He started jumping around and took the guitar and without a single word they started with "Dig That Groove Baby", great song. Then he said: "Do you know this is our last tour?" which we all replied "Noooo", then he said "Maybeeee" and we all said "Yeaaaaaaaaaah!" then they started playing Dougy Giro.
From what I can remember they played this songs:
Dig That Groove Baby
Dougy Giro
Back in '79
I've got asthma
Tocatta in D'moll
Alec's Gone
Lambrusco Kid
The aniversary waltz
The entertainer
She goes to finos
The death of barry roofer with vertigo
Glenda and the test tube baby
Yul Brynner was a skinhead
Olga, I cannot
Up the garden Path
Nellie The Elephant
Stay Mellow
Firey Jack
and to finish the "Dig that groove baby theme tune"
Well and some more which I can't remember now. But they played more than half of the Dig that groove album which is great, and the Tocatta which I wanted to see live and was awesome. Apart from the great sound and the good songs they played, the thing that made that show different was that they really knew how to make the crowd enjoy them. For lambrusco kid Olga took a giant plastic bottle of champagne and it threw confetti all over, for Firey Jack he took a fork and with some flares and moved it around, then almost burnt a security guard in the head (they were pissing us off so we enjoyed), at some time Olga started playing riding on the bassist, later he took Olga and put him upside down while he was still playing...Lots of things like this that only a band as them can do plus lots of stupid comments and more things I'm forgetting. The
only thing I can regret of the show is that the back up vocals didn't sound very good but with the crowd singing along it was enough and that I wanted more Toy Dolls. The show lasted an hour and a half but we all expected some more. So overall, an awesome show. 9.5/10 and I'm not being generous.

Feb 12- Ska is Dead II- Starland Ballroom I figured this should go here, not in the actual Ska Is Dead II thread.
Kid Go Home - 5/10 - They put on a pretty energetic show and their bassist is decent. But they try to sound like "Progress" era Rx Bandits. And they do a s'hitty job at it. They're like the Rx Bandits retarded little secret that they keep in the basement.
Superspecs - 6/10 - They kept dropping their mics and it would slam the ground and make this eardrum pounding sound! They only played 3 old songs: "Dr. Evil Ska", "Up & Down", and "Listen Up". "Up & Down" sucks though. Thay played waaaay too many new songs, despite last time they played around here and got all their CDs thrown at them. Then they closed with the song that their first fans truly hate. It's a new metal-core song called "Animosity" or something like that. They dedicated the song to us, too, which was disgusting.
MU330 - 8/10 - I gotta say, i was very dissapointed with their set. They didn't play enough "MU330" or "Crab Rangoon" songs. And Dan put on a little more weight. Their bassist was very good, though. The tromboner got this fake chainsaw and started runnin around the stage doing the New Jersey Power Skank. That was hilarious. Their drummer didn't miss a single beat. Pretty Decent.
Voodoo Glow Skulls - 8/10 - Same old same old VGS. Closed with "Band Geek Mafia" as usual. Their bassist was litterally pouring sweat from himself. I saw a stream of it. Looked like he was pissing from his nose. But they played all of their good songs. Including a new one called "DD Don't Like Ska" which is a great tune. The singer did his weird lucha libre skull mask thing at the beginning. It was pretty enjoyable from wear i was standing. I got stage right by the equipment and stuff and i met all the guys from MU330, VGS, and Streetlight when they exited. :thumb:
Streetlight Manifesto - 10/10 - probably the BEST Streetlight Manifesto performance i have ever seen. They did "Point/Keasbey Nights/Counterpoint", "Dear Sergio" (BOTAR version), and covered "Hell" by The Squirrel Nut Zippers. They also did an extended version of "If and When..." which they did last time they played Starland. I was standing there screamin the lyrics all night. When they played "Dear Sergio", i think i was the ONLY person in the venue that new the extra verse (BOTAR version). Everyone around me stopped singing except me. I felt so.... scene.

This was last night and was one of the best shows I had been to in my life. Sorry Sacto, oopy, and DOLEMITE.
Street Dogs
They performed first and were really, really good. It was my first time seeing McColgan live, and he was insane. Not many people in the crowd knew them though. Only about 5 other people and they were on the other side of the floor which was alright for me because it gained me recognition from Mike, himself.
They opened up with "Savin' Hill". Other songs included "Back To The World", "Fighter", a cover of the Ramones' "Commando", and "In Defense Of Dorchester". The crowd was diggin' it even though they didn't know the band. But when they performed "Drink Tonight", the place was set off.
Simply Amazing: 10/10
Backyard Babies
This is a rockin' band from Sweden for those who don't know. Their accents were the ****. They came on and appeared to me like a punked up Led Zeppelin. And I swear the drummer looked almost exactly like MX's very own Nick!
I knew only a few of their songs, but that was better than everyone else who knew nothing. But they were definitely diggin' it and I guarantee that at least half those people are going to check them out later on. Their style of play is like a crossbreed of classic rock and early '77 type punk. The guitar player went crazy during some songs and this one song was just wailin'. Really good, and I recommend to fans of early punk and classic rock.
Impressive performance: 9/10
Social Distortion
What can I say? "Legends", pretty much sums it up. The crowd was the oldest I had seen with the average age at about 25-30. But they were all really cool. They opened up with some kickin' tunes to set the crowd off. In order, I remember: "Mommy's Little Monster", "Another State Of Mind", "Sickboy", "1945", and then "Reach For The Sky". "Another State Of Mind" and "Sickboy" were highlights of their performance. They played a lot of new stuff, which I would complain about if their new stuff wasn't so damn good. Other songs I remember from their mid-set included "Nickels And Dimes", "99 To Life", "Prison Bound", "Highway 101", and "Telling Them". They played a straight-up blues song, which owned. Ness solo'd forever on that one. Really awesome. Their encore was the best, however because they played two songs from my favorite album, their S/T. They first played their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire". Then they closed on my absolute favorite song by them, "Story Of My Life". It fecking ruled.
I couldn't have asked for a better performance out of them: 10/10
One of the best shows I have ever been to. Insanely fun.
Overall: 10/10

The Phenomenauts (http://www.phenomenauts.com/) are ****ing crazy and have a lot of energy. They are mostly a rockabilly band but they had some punk and surf in there. Towards the end of their set the keyboardist took out something that looked like a leaf blower with a roll of toilet paper attached at the end and shot three toilet paper roll at the crowd. 9/10 would have been 10 if I had heard them before
After them was River City Rebels, they were good, but they didn't play any songs I recognized. Bopper (Rebels' singer) got really pissed off at the sound guy because he took away his mic and replaced it with a ****ty one after he "disrespected" it. So he started talking **** to him and some of the other guys in the band threw their water bottles at him, it was pretty funny. Shannon warned me to watch out for Bopper's spit, and she was serious, because he was spitting into the crowd throught the set. At one point during their set he called me and the people standing behind the pit (I didn't feel like going in for them) "stiff *** bitches". Anyways, they were good despite the fact they didn't play any songs I knew. I've heard they put on amazing shows, but I wasn't impressed that much. Then again I think Bopper mentioned he was sick and they had gotten their trailer stolen the other night in Spokane 8/10
Just like last time I saw them, Big D were awesome. I was looking for some guy that I had known online for awhile the whole show but didn't spot him till right before their set. So I greeted him and we talked for a bit until Big D came on, and about half way into their first song they got most of us skanking. I don't remember the exact setlist because this show was almost two weeks ago (haha and I'm reviewing it now) but I know they did play Checklist, their Little Bitch cover, and Can't be Caught. During their set I was either in the pit skanking or right up front next to one of the speakers (took three days to get the ringing out of my left ear). Dave works really well with the crowd, and the amount of shows they do is amazing (199 last year). One of my favorite live bands 10/10
Oh yeah, forgot to review a local band that went on before the Phenomenauts, the Whistle Pigs. At first I liked them but then the singer started.. singing. It was like pseudo screamo vocals mixed with ska... just horrible. However, they still did ok. Not the right kind of music to be mixed though. 6/10

The Toasters- Bloomfield Ave Cafe, Montclair, NJ- March 5, 2005
Inspector Hector- 7/10- I have never heard this band before the show. I was going to see them eralier but i missed my chance. They were really good. For an opening band they were extremely energetic. They played ska/punk but mostly traditional sounding ska. There was a new song that they played and had no lyrics, so they found someone in the audience who could skat (sp?) for them. Very good opening band. A lot of people new the lyrics to their closing song, which made things fun.
Long Shot Hero- 9/10- I love these guys. I've seen them a handful of times. Their singer sounds like Jordan Pundik of New Found Glory. He's very energetic. They played very good songs of theirs. They needed a request for a song because they never have a set list. So i yelled "Go!" because me and four other people in the audience know them. So they played "Go" and then closed with a good old ska/punk anthem. Great band that connects with the crowd.
Too Short Notice- 8/10- This band is friggin awesome. They are fronted by a female vocalist and their bassist is around Bloomfield a lot. They always play their good crowd pleaser songs. Pretty energetic. Their drummer ripped it up! I moved to the back for them, so i didnt get too much energy, but it was a great set.
The Miasmics- 9/10- The epitome of NJ ska! I have seen them a countless number of times. They played their crowd pleasing songs because it was a huge show. Their tenor sax is AMAZING! This guy is always crazy. The singer gets into the music and moves around a lot which made it a little more comfortable and energetic. Their guitarist is also extremely talented. He cut his hair! They're bassist just grooves along, he's pretty descent. The show was great. They played "The Funky Dance" for about 4 minutes. Kind of an annoying song, but a lot of people loved it, and everyone was doin funky dances in the pit which got annoying because i wasn't really able to do anything do to the annoying people taking up the whole pit. Good set!
Westbound Train- 6/10- These guys play traditional sounding ska. Pretty good, but got very slow and boring sometimes. Not very energetic at all. Fun to skank to, though. I don't really know how to describe them: I guess The Slackers meet the Toasters will do them justice. Just not as energetic at all. I don't know if they're a new band or not, but i think their live performance could be updated. Descent set. And oh yeah!, they got a ticket for double parking before the show!
The Toasters- 9/10- Absolutely awesome! They played "Two Tone Army", "DLTBGYD", and "I'm Running Right Through The World" which are my favorite songs by them. Awesome set, the horns were perfectly together, their bass was groovin away, and the guitar was soundin' clean. Very energetic. Their Jamaican singer was awesome as hell! He got the crowd going crazy! This was their last show in the US for the season. Everyone was singing along to every word and it was extremely energetic. I didn't hit the pit at all because it was too crowded, but watching the band was good enough for me.
After the show we all went to Wendy's and ordered $30 worth of food. We had to go around and park away from the drive through and wait for all the food because there was too much. Stef kept screaming "Where's our food!" at the headsset order taker guy. It was pretty funny.

Dropkick Murphys , Saturday 12th March, Brixton Academy, London
God Awfuls- Missed them but they're sh!te so i don't care. Matt informs me they covered the Anti Nowhere League.
Bouncing Souls- One of the best live bands ever, they played a slightly disappointing set list compared to the other two times i've seen them, missing out a few great songs including Manthem for the third time running. They still stormed through an great bunch of songs including Kid, Hopeless Romantic, Sing Along forever, Ballad Of Johnny X, East coast F'uck You etc and then ended typically with the brilliant True Believers. Missed out on a 10 because of the usual bad sound that you get in the academy, but still excellent.
9/10
Dropkick Murphys- I've seen this band twice and both times they've had sound problems. This time it was due to the venue but they ploughed on steadily throughout. again this was a disappointing set list and they didn't play my favourite two songs by them, Good Rats and the Gauntlet which seemed a little strange. They finished with a mass crowd invasion and they get an extra point for having some topless women on stage when they finished.

The Blue Bloods:
Amazing band. i had heard a lot of their songs before seeing them and loved em. they are awesome live. it was cool cause i got to sing into the mic for the song "twice as strong". the only thing that i didnt like was they didnt play "im going down"
Dropkick Murphys:
What can i say. starting off with a bagpipe line, lead by scruffy then going into "for boston" then "Workers song", "upstairs and broken hearts", then "boys on the docks", they started off with a kick *** list. it was my first time crowd surfing and i loved it. umm, lets see, the whole concert was a blast, they had a great list. they went all the way back to their first cd play the song "in the streets of boston", which was awesome. uhhh they played like 4 new songs that should be onb a new cd coming out in june. they had one dedicated to chickenman, and one for mickey uhh, watever his last name is, the boxer from boston. yeah, it was awesome.

Some Band
Werent on the bill but they sounded alright. They had a lead asian guitarist who looked funny and acted weird. Asian peaple are funny.2/5
Some Other Band
These guys werent on the band but they were better. They were weird. They were like goth and glam. The Guitarist was wearing a big purple fur coat and eyeliner and the bassist and singer were both women. They were both hideous. They sounded good. I never got the names of the these 2 bands.

Good show. I had never seen em or heard but my friend told me they were good. Rikk Agnew(guitarist of the adolescents) played for them and i bought an adolescents shirt at the show. They ended theyre set with Amoeba
5/5
The Dickies
I dont like them but they put on a good show. The singers voice is annoying. The singer talks alot. He kept taking out props and things to make jokes.None of the songs stood out to me.
2/5
FEAR
I came to see FEAR and it was well worth it. They opened theyre set with I love living in the city and played all theyre good songs. They brought out a guy who played a saxaphone(saxaphonist?) for 2 songs which added alot to the music. They ended theyre set with Let's have a War

Venue - Saratoga Winners : Venue isn't that bad, it's better for more popular bands and gives off an odd vibe when bands bring in smaller crowds, but I wasn't complaining.
Brain Failure - These guys were super cool. From the lyrics to their songs, they seem to talk about how they are from Beijing and how they came to America a lot in their songs. Between songs, they'd joke around saying, "We're not Japanese, but we sure love sushi!" while speaking English sloppy. All in all, their sound was class street punk simply, while they added a well done ska song to their set. I hope they come around here again. 8/10
The Unseen - I was expecting an energetic show, and they delivered. Played well known songs such as "Are we dead yet?" and "So this is freedom" (which by the way, got to sing the chorus to), and added in a cover of "Rise Above". Did an awesome job throughout the set. Halway through the set, my friend dropped his hat on stage, mind you he looked like he was in his pajamas and decided to throw on some boots that day, and Mark goes "Hey, who's cool No Fear hat is this?" haha. Luckily enough, my friend started joking about the whole incident later and thought it was pretty funny.9/10
Overall, it was a really fun night. Sadly, there were a lot of people there not skanking so much as literally just running in a circle and a few kids who didn't know what to do in a pit who weren't dancing, so much as just slapping people. But again, politics aside, bands did an awesome job.

Ok, let's get the beginning sh!t bands out of the way.
Alexisonfire didn't show up.
Made me happy.

The Black Maria
Purposely showed up late to miss them.
0/10
Brazil
Tried to miss them, but ended up catching their last few songs. Horrible.

Rise Against
In-****in-credible. Crowd was decent as far as the responsiveness goes. I think I remember the whole setlist. Not in order though.
Alive And Well
1,000 Good Intentions
Black Masks & Gasoline
Heaven Knows
Dead Ringer
Like The Angel
Voices Off Camera
Broken English
State Of The Union
The First Drop
Life Less Frightening
Blood To Bleed
To Them These Streets Belong
Tip The Scales
Anywhere But Here
Give It All
Dancing For Rain
Swing Life Away
And I think that was about it. Might have missed one. I was very happy with the setlist. They covered the majority of their catalogue though, so it would be hard not to be happy with it. Not much to say really. Except that it was great.
9/10
I would have probably gave this show a lower rating if I had to wait and sit through the other bands. But since I didn't.....
Overall - 8/10

I can never remember a set list.
It's hard for me to remember the entire set from some bands who have a lot of material. Rise Against is easy though. To help jog my memory, I looked at each CD and I listed the ones that came to mind. If you notice they are in order of CD and not in order of play. Alive And Well is the first track on their first album. Swing Life Away is the second to last track on their most recent album.
And I don't drink.
Except tonight, right when RA started to play, this b'itch next to me spilled her beer all over my face.

sometime in march i went to see goldfinger in milwaukee at a ****hole called "the rave"
i had to sit though some really **** band that i forgot the name of already. They ate shi't...and no one liked them... Then The Start Came on. Ok set, but idk, i dont like them so it was lame sitting through it. Then there was a whole fu'cking hour between the start and Goldfinger because of some kind of stupid technical problems. When goldfinger finally hit hte stage, it was great. The first song was Im Down, one of my favorites. Then, in the middle of the second song, things are going good, when TWO HULK HOGAN *** MOTHERFU'CKING SECURITY GUARDS come in out of nowhere, to kick me out for moshing.. so i had to stand outside for the rest of the show. But i did get to meet goldfinger, and they gave me and my friends all the cool free signed **** they were going to give the ****HOLE venue.. haha so yeah, the moral of the story is that The Rave in milwaukee sucks, and so do they're bullsh'it security guards.. i think it was jello who once said "Fat *** bouncers kick the sh'it out of kids who try to dance"

Flogging Molly/Catch 22/Ducky Boys
Ducky Boys - one of my favorite bands, they played a great set. i missed the first few songs, cause i got to the show late.
Catch 22 - I didn't know anything cept the songs from Keasbey Nights. they put on a great show, they played: 9mm and a 3 piece suit, on and on and on, keasbey nights.
Flogging Molly: Amazing show. they came out with screaming at the wailing wall, then went right into swagger, they were awesome. with the exeption of me smashing my face into the stage, this show was awesome!!

First up were The Dead Pets. They were awesome in every way. The playing was tight and Sweeney was a madman. He came down the front and sang right in people's faces and made great jokes between songs. The best songs were Uncle Festa, We're Coming Back (I was right up singing into the mike. There were three other guys singing with me and I was the only one without a foot high mohawk. They looked a bit surprised that I knew the lyrics.) and Dreams For A Crook. On Dreams For A Crook they hooked up a platic skull and proceeded to tell everyone how everyone should worship it as it cost 50p and could burst into flames at any moment. They were great even if their set was a bit short. 10/10
The Briefs were next. They looked like a cross between The Ramones and The Toy Dolls. Leather Jackets and Jeans with short, blond spiky hair and sunglasses. They played well but not spectacularly. The best song they played was Destroy The USA. 7/10
Flogging Molly announced their arrival with Johnny Cash on the PA which upped my opinion of them. I don't know many songs by them but they played all the ones I knew and played them well. The crowd was really into it by this point as well. They dedicated one song to their Fiddle Player who wasn't their as she was having an operation on her hand and another to Johnny Cash and Joe Strummer. They ended with What's Left Of The Flag as I knew they would but it was still cool. 8.5/10
Overall it was a really good gig. I picked up a Dead Pets t-shirt too. 9/10

All went well for the most part!
Buda Funk Munk, Johnstones, Keepin 6 , Green Division, And The Heatskores!
First Buda Funk Munk played, i really like them, well the singer/guitarist made up the band, the rest of them just stood there and played. But they did a Hardcore song, I got out of the skank pit pretty fast thank god, i dont think im scene enough to dance hardcore.
then The Johnstones! this was my favourite set of the night. They had a little dance before the set which was pretty cool, and their music is just so awesome ( I suggest anyone who likes ska to check em out)
Then Keepin 6! I love keepin 6... Theres not much to say about them... Uh.. they did a pink floyd cover. and i bought a shirt and talked to the band for a bit.
Then Green Division, I HATE green division and thoes **** matching green ties. and the guitar kept breaking.
Lastly The Heatskores!! well I didnt get to see the whole set( ride problems) but it was awesome none-the-less.

like sketchy joe said about flogging molly, the dead pets and the briefs, flogging molly were amazing, the briefs were a bit crap and the dead pets were the best support act i've seen. i was at the front for the briefs and flogging molly, got some good photos of the band too (see below) i missed the last 4 songs cause of the trains which sucked but i left just as they finished salty dog! overall it was a really good evening.

I don't know if this is the place for it but anyways :
Gig diary of my bands first gig :
We started off sound testing with Lexicon Devil. We started the first song "No Time" which made the place erupt :chug:
The second song was me playing bass and just drums and i played the song about twice as fast as i should have... fúcking brilliant.
We kept playing and played a raggae song, punk song, ska song etc...
Got to the last songa nd during the drum solo ( the song is a really fast hardcore kind of song ) we fúcking started going crazy as we threw our guitars down and we trashed my amp leaving nothing together in it! It was smashed all over the pub! Then my guitarists guitar was out of tune so i had to play the rest of the song myself, then the place erupted worse than before.
The rest of the bands that played were to quote many of the people "shít compared to us" They were like indie bands!
All in all it was probably one of the best first gigs ever played! We fúcking ruled

Friday, 30th April: The Filaments, London Garage
Sonic Boom 6: Ska/rap sort of thing. I've seen them once before and they were much worse this time, pretty awful to be honest. The singer however is pretty fit.
3/10
The Peacocks: They were on this co-headline tour with the Filaments, i think they alternated the dates they headlined on. They were quite impressive and put on a good show. They got a nice sound out of the double bass and he still managed to put a lot of energy into his performance despite carrying that massive thing. They had one real stand out song called I Can Do A Lot For My Size that was amazing live. And i got a good poster by them off the wall.
7.5/10
The Filaments: Absolutely f'ucking quality as usual. This is the third time i've seen them and first time as headliner, and they were brilliant. Played all their classics including Punk Unity, zombie Jail Break, sick Joke, Nation etc as well as a lot of great sounding new tracks. Their energy was incredible, and the singer ended up playing solos whilst crowd surfing which looked great. They ended with the ever popular Bastard Coppers that went down a storm. Typically brilliant performance.

Mustard Plug w/ Something To Do + Local Bands
Only about 40-50 people showed up, but it was still amazing
Local Bands: There were some good ones, some bad ones. There was a skeemo band, and they brought along an entire row of fat chicks (who I think were their mommies) just to cheer for them and clap after every song, mainly becuase no one else would. An Oi! band played, and all of their stuff broke down and they all got pissed and the guitarist broke a bunch of stuff, so that may be the last time we use the venue.
overall: about 6/10
EDIT: While the skeemo band was playing, the singer said "You know guys, it's okay to jump around. It's cool to get into the music". Remembering this:
http://www.nothingnice.com/index.php?pageNum_Recordset2=246&totalRows_Recordset2=249
I shouted "We're not dancing becuase you suck". They either didn't hear me or ignored me.
Something To Do (http://www.myspace.com/somethingtodo): I honestly was not expecting much from them. However, as soon as they came on, the whole place exploded. The crowd had been dead therough all of the local bands except for one, and these guys really woke us up. They had some really awesome horn lines, and had the whole place skanking.
8/10
Mustard Plug: I really hadn't heard a lot from them, maybe 4 or 5 songs. And they blew the entire place away. Everyone was just dancing or skanking, and singing along; it was an amazing atmosphere. I know they played: Brain on Ska, The Freshman, You, Everything Girl, Skank By Numbers, and they finished with Beer (song), which is the only one I knew the words to. They completely overwhelmed me, and I ope they come back sometime this year.

This show was a bit back but I made a review for it after it happened.
Action/Defiance-Washington DC, Warehouse Next Door. March 27.2005
Thick as Thieves-Second time seeing them and they were pretty good. Oi!/Streetpunk styled locals. 7/10.
VPR-Good DC hardcore, also second time seeing them. 7/10.
Action-I mainly came to the show to see them. I thought they were very good and they played there songs well. Also very nice people. Played most songs from their self titled cd. However they did not play Warzone or Won't Stop Screaming. They played a cover and a new song. 9/10.
Defiance-Only stayed for 3 songs as I had to catch the metro home. Songs that I recognized were No Future No Hope and Anti-Social. Second time seeing them and they were pretty good but they seemed a bit drunk. 7/10.
EDIT: I made a review on this thread of the show before but this one is better.
saturday april 30th: misfits @ sonar lounge in baltimore
fishnet stalkers: okay opening local band. their singer was kinda queer and talked too much, which got a bunch of beers thrown at him. they basically got cussed off stage.
misfits: f***ing amazing. jerry only actually had good vocals. dez cadena played some awesome guitar, but not so good backup singing. and then there was the best part. good ol' marky ramone played drums perfectly and he was so cool. they did every song well and faster than on the cd. and they pumped up the audience well. like when jerry only screamed "you gotta sing your ****ing heads to this one this is i turned into a f***in martian!!" some of these things mite be obvious concert things but this was my first show so gimme a break.

Sunday 1st May, Deconstruction Tour 2005, London Astoria
Tribute To Nothing- First i'd even heard of this band, and they seemed to realise this was the same for most people. Played a mixture of hard rock and hardcore, their music was awful. But, to their credit, they gave the performance absolutely everything they had. Guitars and mic stands were going everywhere, they were jumping around like nutters the whle time and so weren't too boring.
5.5/10
Captain everything- What a band. They are an amazing pop-punk band, and they were brilliant. Excellently received by the crowd which shows years of hard work has paid of for them. they have two charismatic and hilarious front men, and they played so fast it was unbeliveable. As always they left you wanting more, after playing classics such as Watford Pride, There's No 'i' In Scene, Picture Of You, Petrol Fumes etc etc. Superb.
9/10
Only Crime- This is the band formed by Russ Rankin of Good Riddance and Bill Stevenson of Descendents. They were very very good as well. I went into this after only hearing about 6 of their songs and left with the feeling that this is a band i need to hear more of. They had some excellent riffs in their songs, and Russ was as good a lead singer as i remembered from when i saw good riddance about a year ago.
8/10
Smoke or Fire- Missed them
From Autumn To Ashes- Unfortunately caught the end of them
Strike Anywhere- These guys were amazing. The guitarist was out on stage messing around during the sound check, and their desire to entertain continued right through their set. From the very first song, we had a singer in the audience and a bassist jumping of thge drums and this continued right through their performance. They played some excellent songs including Infrared and Blaze amongst others and were very well received.
8.5/10
Capdown- This was the band many in here had been waiting to see. They were good, and justified their reputation of being a great live band. They played their best songs includong An A Political Stand Of Reasons, Faith No More, Ska Wars etc and they went down a storm. Not my favourite band so the rating isn';t too high, but decent nonetheless.
6.5/10
Boysetsfire- I now hate this band, they bored the sh!t out of me when i was waiting for the mad caddies. The singer spent most of his time rything (sp?) around on the florr like a baby and they were nothing special to watch.
1/10
Mad Caddies- F'ucking brilliant as usual. It was the third time i've seen them and they never disappoint. Excellent tunes were in abundance from the opener Villains and other harder tracks like Bridges and Contraband, to pop-punk beauties Muchos Nachos and Mary Melody, to ska tunes like Popcorn and Road Rash, to joke tunes like Monkeys and Weird Beard. They are so fun live it's unbvelievable.
9/10
So with just the band, not a bad deconstruction. It seemed a bit budget, especially as they had the Decon 2004 flag, with a '5' taped over the '4'!.
I bumped into the singer from Fireapple Red outside before it started and he said they were doing ok if anyone knows them.
And then i met Bill Stevenson!!!!!!- http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7745403#post7745403

Rise Against, Highbury Islington Academy, London- 4th May
This venue is weird, but quite nice. It's just slapped in the middle of a shopping centre. It's fairly big, with an upstairs area where you can basically look right down on the band playing from about 6 rows into the audience.
Redlightsflash- Missed them, i've seen them before and they are boring.
Alexisonfire- I saw some of this band last year at reading festival and they were bad. And they haven't changed much. I wacthed them from the upstairs area andalthough they put a lot of energy in they just didn't impress musically. However the singer decided to climb up some scafolding to the upper balcony in the intro to their last song, and sung from upstairs. Unfortunately he ignored the crowd asking him to 'JUMP!'.
2/10
Rise Against- The band i came for! Like the rest i've seen them before and they were exactly how i remembered them- full of energy and passion. Played through all their classics including Heaven Knows, Dead Ringer, Broken English, torches, Give It All, State Of Thr Union, 1000 Good Intentions, BLood To Bleed etc etc.
Apparently Tim had lost his voice the night before and had to cancel for the first time in 5 years. Still, it didn't show tonight and he was excellent, whether he was just singing or playing guitar as well. A number of hiccups didn't affect either, and the band stormed through the problems of Tim breaking a string in Heaven Knows and no sound coming from the amp when he played the acoustic Swing Life Away as the first song of the encore (which was, Tim said, the first time he had played that song outside the US).
And to cap an excellent night for me, I got to sing into the mic the chorus of the song Heaven Knows, and then grab a setlist at the end. Brilliant, a great night!

Deconstruction tour 2005 Winterthur Eishalle Deutweg May 7th
Smoke or fire-missed half of their show but from what I heard they weren’t as bad as I expected. 5/10
Only crime-A bit disappointing. I didn't really like the singer's voice. The guitar riffs were quite cool though. Standout songs were Sedated, Doomsday beach and to the nines.5,5/10
Capdown-Second best band of the night. They really were the ones that opened it up. The singer showed a lot of energy, although he had a few problems with his sax so the guitarist had to fill in on the vocals at some part. They started off with Jnr NBC and also played their best songs like cousin cleotis and ska wars. I was in the front and at some point the singer came off the stage and started throwing water at the crowd. At the end there was a circle pit and I got asked 5 times who this band was so I guess they made a lot of new fans. Great band, even better live, 9/10
Mad sin- When this band came onto stage, people were wondering: who the hell are these ugly bastards? They started with revenge, and as their set went longer, more and more people got into their music. This was probably the biggest crowd they’ve played in front of, so they really gave everything. Both vocalists were amazing and their set was very entertaining. Köfte(lead singer) kept telling jokes to the crowd in german, he keeped kicking the bassist and the mic-stand(it eventually broke, so some technician had to come repair it) and he kept hitting the cymbal with his head. The lead had an amazing solo, and he started playing on his knees, and then on his back, then Köpfe came and lay beside him, and the bassist stood on both of them and kept on playing. Near the end of their set, some weird psycho came on stage and started breathing fire. At the end of the 30 minutes of greatness, the bassist was holding and playing his stand-up bass over his head, then slammed it on the ground while Köfte was furiously hitting his head against the cymbal. It was hilarious. I’ve seen them before, but they weren’t as good as this. AWESOME performance. 9,5/10
Strike anywhere- I wasn’t looking to forward to seeing them, but they were very energetic. To the world was definitely the best song of their set, and the singer also let the crowd sing into the mic. They impressed me, although they aren’t my favorite band. 8/10
Banda bassoti- I was outside while they were playing, but it sounded like like most of their songs sounded exactly the same. Their songs were ''sing-along ska'' and they had 9 members. They were kind of weird. 5/10
FATA- horrible, I won’t even comment on it. 1/10
Strung out- They were in all very good, and well received by the crowd. They played a lot of good old songs such as ultimate devotion and too close too see, but also some of their new and more metal ones. I’d say Bring out your dead was their best song. They seemed to have a few technical problems though, the guitars were way too loud and we could hardly hear the vocals 8,5/10
Boysetsfire- I didn’t like them. Their music wasn’t very good, and there was hardly any entertainment except the singer rolling around. 2/10
Mad caddies-Very good. They started with villains and ended with macho nuchos, then got called back by the crowd and they played some more of their songs. They basically played all the songs I was expecting them to play, and even if they’re not my favourite band on CD, they were amazing. I think anyone in the public would agree on that as they were all dancing 9,5/10
Although the skaters sucked, the venue was hard to find, the sound in the arena wasn’t very good, the weather was bad and the beer was probably the cheapest they could get, it was a very good show. I got some posters for and a capdown T-shirt

May 13th- Rise Against, Alexisonfire, Red Lights Flash
Red Lights Flash-
I love these guys. Their music is awsome and they were incredibly energetic. The people that showed up early enough to see them got very into them very quickly, as they kicked serious ***. 5/5
Alexisonfire-
I've never really liked Alexisonfire too much. As they got on stage, all I could notice is that the lead guitarist (Dallas?) had his guitar turned waaaaaaay too loud. They sounded better as I went further away from the stage. OVerall, not bad. 4/5
Rise Against-
SImply amazing. Kick *** band. Tim's vocals ar more incredible live. Very fast.
5/5
Great show

Venue: Roxy, nice place.
Murpheys Law-
Awsome. The singer was drinking yeagermister on stage. They were funny as hell. 9/10
Supersuckers-
Also awsome. I got the guitar pick. There was a drunken cowboy next to me, he was really funny. 9/10
Reverand Horton Heat-
They were great, bassist stood up on his bass. It was great 9/10
They were all really great, one of the best shows ive ever seen if not the best, and to top it off we went to Fillinis and krispy cream! Oh there is so much more I could type about this night, but im not going to, ill just say it was awsome.

Howards Alias/Chief Libido/Nagatha Krusti/Floating Face Down
I've seen the first two bands before and neither were very good so I missed them.
Chief Libido (http://www.purevolume.com/chieflibido): A skemo band. Musically competent but they lost me with the lyrics "Red wine like blood flowing from my wrists" Clichemo with horns is still clichemo. 3/10
Howards Alias (http://www.householdnamerecords.co.uk/media/howardsalias.html): Featuring Jesus the tramp on lead vocals and guitar. They played well. Nothing special but the crowd was more into it and there was even a mini-mosh pit at the end. 7/10
Ska Cubano
Ska Cubano (http://www.linea1.com/ska/listen.htm): I read a review of their CD ages ago and I couldn't find it anywhere until I spotted it whilst browsing my local independent record shop last Autumn. The guy in shop told me how he was trying to book them for my local club so I've been looking forward to this gig for awhile and they didn't dissapoint. The place was packed when I got there at nine. There was some cool DJing from the likes of DJ Derek (60something dude from Bristol playing hardcore Ska and Ragga) before the band came on at 9:30. They were great. They played all my favourite songs by them. Natty Bo and Benny Billy (the singers) were great even if the only English Benny knew was "I LIKE YOU!" and all the musicians (all eight of them) were great especially the drummer (who looked about 80 but still rocked really hard) and the alto-saxophonist (who busted out an amazing solo in the penultimate song which included playing behind her back). All in all they were absolutely excellent. One of the best bands I've ever seen. The highlights (although most of the set was a highlight) were Revolutionary Ska, Ska Cubano and Chango. The only bad thing is that I was too skint to buy their second album which isn't in the shops for a month. 10/10

June 8th Eyeliners, Lost City Angels, Social Distortion
Eyeliners- God awful. Only about 4 people were into them, and unfortuantely they had an extra long set because the Lost City Angels didn't show. I had to give props to the Guitarist though.
LCA-Like I said, a no show.
Social D- ****ing incredible, opened up with Mommy's little Monster, and the crowd was into them the whole time. I moshed about 2/3 of the time, and then they finally ended with Story of My Life as usual. Oh yeah, and I say Dolemite in the pit.

willie was suprisingly very good i am not a willie nelson fan but it was amazing and he did a cover of texas flood where is son played lead guitar and sang his son did an alright job he didn't have a low enough voice for the song but it wasn't bad.
bob dylan i am glad i got to see him his band was really good i cound't understand anything he sang. the only songs i recognized were like a rolling stone and don't think twice it's alright.he jsut sat behind a keyboard the entire time but on occasion he woudl come out for a harmonica solo but nothing to impressive. i am glad i saw him before he died. but if you get the chance to see willie nelson i would take it he is very good live and you will meet some interesting people young and old.

well ****, this is an awsome thread and no one EVER posts in it. so here we go.
THE ADICTS plus others, JULY 10th 2005, THE CONTINENTAL, NYC
Woke up at around 11, got ready, walked to the bus station and got on the bus at around 1. I arrived at the Hoboken Terminal around 2, cos the bus had to wait for like a half hour at one stop cos of some fire going on. Then I got on the PATH train to 9th Street and walked aimlessly around up and down St. Marks drunk. Since the London bombings, police have been around everywhere, so drinking wass sketchy but it was done. Then i walked to the Continental, and saw the first two bands play.
This is the highlight of the night ~ during the second bands set, the singer decided to be a total jerk and said,
Singer: you know what i think, i think we should take down all these pictures on the wall and put up a picture of ME and make it say JESUS cos im gonna save this ****ing punk scene thats going down the shitter because of all these faggot posers with mohawks. Especially YOU" *points to some random kid with a mohawk
14 year old kid with mohawk: "shut up faggot!"
Singer: Come here and say it to my face!
Kid: *walks up towards the stage and repeats what he says
Singer *kicks kid in the face repeatedly, jumps off stage
crowd breaks off in to a brawl, pure chaos for 5 minutes, band vs crowd/crowd vs crowd, while im in the back with a few friends watching in awe. I then looked over to jake casualty whos like,"mehmeh i need some beers".
well after all that, everyone waited around for about a half hour. it was ****ing hot inside, the venue was packed as hell. i couldnt go outside cos they wouldnt let me back in, so i just toughed it up and waited inside. i went downstairs to take a piss, and met the guitarist and drummer of the adicts. after talking to them, i went back upstairs and waited yet even longer. finally the road crew came out to tune evrything, and everyone cheeered cos they thought it was the adicts. stupid cunts. then FINALLY the lights went out, and the bouncer guy was pushing everyone back, and a spotlight went towards the stairs where the adicts were coming from. everyone cheered like an idiot again, and the drummer yelled out "shut up we havent even come out yet" in a funny accent. then they came out, in true fashion while beethoven's ode was playing. monkey was dressed up and had all his make up on, all of which fell off midway through the show. everyone went crazy, so packed it was hard to move around, but all in all, twas a fun show. i give it a 9/10 cos the fight was funny and the show was awsome, but the venue was hot as hell and wayyyy too packed. *which is a great way to touch some gyrlz*
This all probably didnt come out right, since im still sorta drunk and i probably missed a few things, which i will remeber later

GBH/The God Awfuls @ The Recher Theater in Baltimore on July 10
I'll make this brief because there is no reason for me to write a book about the show... It was my first time at the venue and it was a pretty ****ty place considering the other venues in the area. The tickets were expensive, they charged an additional $3 at the door if you were under 21, and there were bouncers everywhere. Other than that the show was incredible. The God Awfuls were decent but nothing great. On the otherhand, GBH was ****ing fantastic. They played classics all night including Manic, No Survivors, Sick Boy, Give Me Fire, City Baby and Revenge, Generals, Big Women, and Alcohol among others. The show ended (and started) very early as I left the place just after 11. That's about it and Don't miss GBH's East Coast tour.

Against Me! with William Whitmore and The Exit, September 6th, Repectable Cafe, West Palm Beach, Florida, Against Me!'s Album release show
I've never really been to a show like this.
When I got there, walking down the sidewalk the first person I see is Warren Oakes, the drummer for Against Me!. Now, I can be a little girl about this band, you know. I tried to play it cool, though. I yelled "Warren! You guys are f'ucking great!" He responded, "f'uck yes."
I also saw Andrew, the bassist, and we introduced ourselves and had a chit chat, and he asked where I was from (Miami), and he told me he liked my Minutemen shirt. I then waited in line.
The show started with William Whitmore. He's a guy who plays banjo, stomps to keep tempo, and prefers swigs of beers instead of water in between songs. He was f'ucking great. Great folk songs, with sincere, personal lyrics.
Next up was the exit. First just one guy came out with a harmonica and acoustic guitar. He played a nice song. Then the drummer and guitarist came out. This band is really talented. The guitarist looked just like Lenny Cravitz. I spelled his name wrong. Anyways, they rocked hard, they were kind of Indie rock/punk. All the band members were really into it. The drummer even pulled out a maraca in one of the songs. Very cool performance.
But no one was there to see those guys.
Against Me! came on and the crowd started yelling. The band just started playing; no fancy introduction. Here's all the songs they played in no order except for the first and last songs:
T.S.R.
From Her Lips To God's Ears (The Energizer)
Pints Of Guinness Make You Strong
Sink Florida Sink
Rice And Bread
You Look Like I Need A Drink
Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious
Miami
Turn Those Clapping Hands Into Angry Balled Fists
Even At Our Worst We're Still Better Than Most (The Roller)
Problems
Don't Lose Touch
We Laugh At Danger (And Break All The Rules)
Even the annoying as h'ell crowd surfers couldn't ruin it. I was smiling and screaming the lyrics the whole time. It was the best time I've ever had. A bunch of people including me got on stage during the last part of We Laugh At Danger and sang along. It was incredible.
After the show, I got to say hi and thanks to all the guys from the band, and talk more with Warren and Andrew. All of them are such down to earth guys. There was no "please visit www.againstme.net and www.myspace.com/againstme" or "we have our new album for sale at the table over there." They got on and off stage without a word, and said thank you in between one of the songs.
It was seriously the best experience in my life, and this band has had such a huge impact on me, it was incredible being able to talk to them and thank them again and again, and having them thank me in return. Unbelievable people.
Goddam'n right 10/10.

****ing awesome as always even though there wasn't many people there. They kept complaining they didn't get any free beer. Sweeney was great and fuucking hilarious. They started play at 6PM. They should've been on later. I can't wait to see them on the 12th. 9/10
Neck
Good band with some cool tunes. Very similar to Flogging Molly. The violinist was hot. 7/10
Freaks Union
Good but nothing special. 6/10
Kings of Nuthin'
Great band. They played just about all my favourite songs. The pit was ****ing insane. I got punched and elbowed so many times. It was full of ****ing massive skinhead who were all built like brick shithouses. I'm not a small guy (6'2", 14st) but I was just about the smallest guy in there. I managed to grab a setlist at the end. 8/10
The Business
I'm not a big fan but they played great. Another (not quite as) insane pit with more huge skinheads. 8/10
It was a great gig. I got a free badge from the Dead Pets guy and found a fiver on the floor at the end. There was also some black dude with an acoustic guitar playing Ska on the way home which was cool. I also swear I saw Stumpy (or someone who looked a lot like him). Does anyone know if he's still in Wales or not?

during The Warriors Code Tour. awesome. me and my freind got drunk before the concert and did soem damage. my freind lit a smoke in the mosh and got picked up by the bouncer by his hair! the two best band there wer DKM ( of course) and Lost City Angels. I met most of the people that were on stage that night including Ken Casey and Scruffy as well as talked with the guitarist from Lost City angels. he gave me my money back on most of the merch that i bought. i will remember that for the rest of my llife. DKM had the best setlist i have ever heard them play. this chich undid her freinds tubetop in the middle of the set:naughty: . Gang green was not that bad but waskinda thrashy and repetitive. the ska band ( i think they were called Manic Mustard or something like taht) did a good job too. the solo they did on one of thier songs was so beautifully pulled off. i almost died from dehydration i was in the mosh for so long.

The Dead Pets:
Amazing as usual. They should be headlining gigs like this. They played (from what I can remember) The Revenge of the Village Idiots, Never Never, If It Sells It Sells, Mother's Ruin, Great Balls of Fire, Headbanging, Reprogrammed, Dreams For A Crook, We're Coming Back. Pretty similar to last time but who cares? IT'S THE DEAD FOOKIN' PETS! 9/10
Left Alone:
Average Rancid wannabes. Typical Hellcat fare. Some ska songs, some punk songs. They weren't bad, they weren't good. Meh. 6/10
The Horrorpops:
I'm not a fan but they played well and the pit was brilliant. Not too big and not too small. They had some catchy tunes. The dancers were weirdly hot in a sort of corpse-nurse-goth-cheerleader kind of way. I managed to grab a drumstick. It was enlivened by the fact that the guitarist looks just like Kramer from Seinfeld. Pretty good but I wouldn't buy an album.7/10
It was a good gig. As last time it would've benefited from the Dead Pets playing later. The bouncers were real cunts to anyone who got on stage too.

Yeah, the Horrorpops' dancers are pretty hot. And Nekroman does kinda look like Kramer. He's a lot cooler when he's playing in the Nekromantix though. And Geoffe Kresge was a lot cooler when he was in Tiger Army. The Horrorpops are just meh but they have some cool members.

Catch-It Kebabs:
An above average ska-punk band. Pretty cool. 7/10
The Junglists:
Like a more ska, more emo Gogol Bordello but worse than that sounds. They had a few good songs, notably the final one with its riff ripped off from the Vanilla Muffins' Gimme Some Sugar Oi! The Violinist frontman seemed like a twat and the keyboardist was wearing a pink necktie. Hmmmm. 5/10
$up:
Suck. 2/10
The Dead Pets:
Just about one of the best sets I've ever experienced. They played a crapload of great songs, were just as entertaining as usual and the crowd was properly into them as opposed to last time. I stage-dived twice at the end and sang along with Sweeney for a bit of We're Coming Back which ended in a stage invasion. Legendary. 10/10
Jesse James were playing too but me and my mate decided as they obviously weren't going to top the Dead Pets we couldn't be bothered and so we left.

Man, this concert was fun. I can still barely hear.
So this wasn't a punk show at all, but since I'm always talking about Tempest, I decided I review this show anyways. Plus it was awesome.
It was my 4th time seeing Tempest and 2nd time seeing Wicked Tinkers, 1st time indoors and at night though. Before I've only seen them at Scottish games and county fairs.
Concert started at 8. It was at the Vet's Memorial Theater in the middle of college town Davis, CA. It was a pretty nice theater. Yes it was a sit down concert, but plenty of room for a dance floor in front of the stage. First up were the Wicked Tinkers. They are a very simple band, drums and pipes celtic style. They also throw in some other instruments such as the didgeridoo, the Irish Brass Horn and jaw harp. Watching them play is like traveling back in time to some celtic hunting tribe after a good hunt and the men are celebrating with merryment and music. One word describes the Tinkers, LOUD. Some highlights were their semi-cover of Radar Love, including a human drumkit solo from the snare drum player, which was amazing. Also a good time was their sing along, Wallop the Cat which got the entire audience going. They've gotten a new didge player since I last saw them and he is so much better than the old one, lots of energy. And I'm surprised his didge doesn't have dents from all the beating he does on it with his drumstick. He also played some amazing stuff, including this little tune that sounded very hip hopish. Was a really fantastic set from them.
Next came Tempest, one of my favourite bands. They'd have to be if I was willing to see them 4 times and look forward to seeing them at least 3 more times this year. They've got a new album coming out next month, so they played a lot of stuff off of that. Their guitarist, Ronan, is usually very stable and quiet while playing. He reminds me of East Bay Ray in the way of his skinnyness and calmness, but tonight was different. That irish boy was all over the stage, jumping and dancing. He almost beat out fiddle player Michael for most active, but that fiddler is the most energetic man in the biz. Ariane, the bassist, put on a fantastic show as per usual. Both visually and with her fantastic bass skills. Those skills especially showed on her own song, Vision Quest which is on the new album as well. They also played Hangman, which is a really morbid but entertaining song that they ended with a nice long instrumental that included a polka. They didn't play my favorite song which is Green Grow the Rashes and the gig that follows, but they made up for it, big time.
At the end of the concert they brought the tinkers back on staged, and boy **** thatw as loud. Lief described it as a wall of sound and I'd have to agree. You have 3 drummers (2 from Tinkers, 1 from Tempest), a didge player, a fiddle, a bass, a guitar, and a double necked mandolin. It was ****ing amazing how they all came together. Was the loudest thing I've heard and the most enertaining. I hope they do more like this and wish they'd do an entire album together.
I suggest if Tempest or the Tinkers come anywhere near you, make every effort to go. You will not be disappointed.

World/Inferno Friendship Society @ Haverford College, PA
I went to this show since my brother goes to Villanova, a very short train ride to Haverford. So I get in, it's in a basement of some building. Not very big, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it did get pretty crowded pretty fast. This also wasn't too big of a deal. The crowd itself, I didn't really like. There was a good mix of stupid college kids, annoying drunk people, assholes blowing smoke in my face (this probably makes it sound like I'm some kind of straight edge nazi, I'm not. I would just prefer if people kept their intoxicated state to themselves). The first band played, I never heard of them, can't remember their name. They had some ok stuff. So next came World/Inferno (this would be my second time seeing them by the way) so things got a lot better as far as the music went. The only thing that I didn't like about their set is that a couple songs seemed to be kind of rushed. Overall they were very entertaining. Jack was his charismatic self. They also played a few songs from Lexicon of Friends and Enemies that I hadn't heard live before so that was cool. A couple problems with the crowd again, uhg. There were lots of pipes on the ceiling so people began climbing on them and all the crap dangling from their belts kept hitting me in the head. My brother later informed me that a shopping cart was in the air at one point (I don't know how I missed this). Now I like shows to be laid back and such, crowd surfing is cool and all that. But if that shopping cart had come anywhere near hitting me I can't describe how pissed I would have been. Then I ended up having to leave early to catch a train right as they started playing Zen and Art of Breaking Everything in this Room (dammit!).
So basically, World/Inferno was good, the crowd sucked, I had to leave early. Left me a little disappointed at the whole experience. I still had a good time though, just didn't turn out quite as expected.

The Soular System: The only local funk/soul band. Same as every other time that I saw them. They have a very good stage presence, even if the lead singer was the only one moving around a lot.
Kendra Foster: Some rapper who sings about nothing but pot. He was pretty good, got the crowd moving a bit.
Sativa: Another rapper who sings about pot. She was o.k. The place started filling up right about now, while some kids next to me were trying, unsuccessfully, to smoke a bowl.
George Clinton: What can I say? The god of funk himself, playing his first show in Tallahassee in 6 years. He was great, to say the least. He played some of his greatest hits, like "Funky Woman," "Atomic Dog," "Do Fries Go With That Shake," and "We Want The Funk." He even had one of the original members of the Parliament Funkadelic with him at this show.
All in all, this was one of the best shows I've been to in a while. I hope to see him again before he retires (or goes to jail for drug possession )

The Gallows: Generic hardcore. Caught a few songs. 3/10
The Cover-Up: Generic hardcore from geordies. Hilarious dancing. 3/10
The Vultures: Absolutely crap hardcore from scousers. What is it with hardcore singers and walking back and forth across the stage looking tormented? Haven't they ever tried connecting with the audience? More hilarious dancing. I spent most of this set at the bar. 1/10
Good Clean Fun: Fantastic. Played almost all my favourite songs A Little Bit Emo, A Little Bit Hardcore, Shopping for a Crew, Song for the Ladies, Good Clean Fun, Straight Outta Hardcore, loserdotcom, It's Time To Beat The Meat, On The Streets Saving the Scene From the Forces of Evil. They also covered Ice Ice Baby with their bassist singing and Issa playing bass and some Kelly Clarkson song. The were also very funny. Their drummer came out and did a hilarious Q&A session. I think they covered New Direction to finish. I was quite drunk by that point. Great set. They could've played for a little longer though. 8.5/10
Good Clean Fun were great. The rest were pretty crap. My Bad Brains shirt was complemented by several people including Issa.

Voodoo Glow Skulls @ the Chain Reaction (aka the venue with no ventalation, aka the venue you breathe carbon monoxide in during the last band or two, aka the venue you leave soggy as ****.)
the Culprits: I've seen these guys before so I didnt bother to watch them. Basically think Choking Victim only repulsively bad.
the Upstarts?Upswitches?: Frankly I dont care because from what I could hear from outside they sucked too.
the Aggrolites: Skinhead Reggae at its finest. For those of you who havent listened to the Aggrolites, check them out now. These guys (and gal) know how to put on a show. Lots of energy, good set, getting the crowd to sing along whether they knew the words or not=Awesome.
Voodoo Glow Skulls: Im no stranger when it comes to VGS, their hometown heroes. Like always they how to put on a good show. Lots of fast songs that test you on how many times you dont go in the pit. Yet, with a balanced amount of medium-tempo skank-a-longs. Like the Aggrolites, Voodoo knows how to enterain the crowd.
All in All, definately see VGS or the Aggrolites if you get the chance because theyre ****ing awesome, and skip the Culprits and whatever other shitty band played, unless you like happen to like crap flooding your ear canals.

There was too much talking (especially that animal rights woman at the start) but the songs were great. That was a great heckle though.
Did you catch the band before? The lead singer constantly looked like he was going to burst into tears.

Haha, at the World/Inferno show I posted about earlier, I later went on the W/I message boards to see if there was a thread about that show so I could read if anything cool happened after I left. Apparently at one point Jack said something along the lines of "I want 16 people on the pipes" and so it was and the pipes starts leaking lots of really hot water on top of people. I really wish I could have stayed for the whole thing.

was on oct 21 in edmonton.
during The Warriors Code Tour. awesome. me and my freind got drunk before the concert and did soem damage. my freind lit a smoke in the mosh and got picked up by the bouncer by his hair! the two best band there wer DKM ( of course) and Lost City Angels. Gang green was not that bad but waskinda thrashy and repetitive. the ska band ( i think they were called Manic Mustard or something like taht) did a good job too. the solo they did on one of thier songs was so beautifully pulled off. i almost died from dehydration i was in the mosh for so long.
aahh Reds Security..always hitting pulling and scratching..i was gonna go to that show but went to the Suffocation show when i was in Edmonton..im pissed i missed Gang Green

In The Wake Of, Westbound Train, Go Jimmy Go, and The Toasters. The Beta Bar, 2/12/06.
This was a very good show, as I naturally expected.
In The Wake Of: Pretty good melodic hardcore (possibly?) band. Had a few good songs, others not that interesting. Covered "Just Another Crowd" by Operation Ivy.
Westbound Train: Very good band. I liked them a lot. I had heard a couple of their songs off of the "Give 'em The Boot" comps, and I liked what I had heard. They are like 10 times better live.
Go Jimmy Go: Very very good band. I am officially in love with this band now, due to their sheer awesomeness. Lots and lots of good songs to skank to. They covered "A Message To You, Rudy" by The Specials, and had members from the other bands come play it with them.
The Toasters: What can I say? Simply amazing, like always. Covered a lot of their career, all the way from "Skaboom!" to "D.L.T.B.G.Y.D. and everywhere in between. As an encore they, along with everyone from the other bands, played a ridiculously extended version of "Matt Davis." They had everyone skanking in the place, including the bouncers. (no joke!)
All in all, this was probably one of the best shows I have been to in Tallahassee. I'm just gonna go ahead and give it a 10/10.

Black Tax: 'Fastcore' apparently. They were fast. And loud. They did rock pretty hard (especially the bassist) and had some cool songs. They played a short set but I'm not sure if I could have taken any more. 7/10
The King Blues: Acoustic anarcho ska. Between this band and the openers is probably the biggest contrast in bands you could ever see. This band were great. Really chilled out with great tunes and a great vibe. They've got their debut album coming out in May. You should check them out. 8/10
This Bike is a Pipe Bomb: Rocked hard. I'm vaguely familiar with most of their stuff but every songs so catchy you just end up singing along anyway. They were really funny too. They could've played slightly longer (despite the encore) and they didn't play my favourite song but good stuff nonetheless. 8.7/10
What a show.
I walk to shipwreck music with a couple of friends a bit before 8. It's horrible weather out. Very, very cold and very windy. We get there and find out they're going to be a little late to start, because they're waiting for a friend to get out of work. Cool, it gave us time to go get some hotdogs before the show.
I was really amused by their instruments, particularly the bass. It was all duct taped up, and pretty sketchy.
I was really happy to be pretty much right up front for the show, seeing as people were nice to short little me. I was also very close to one of the speakers, so it was heard loud and clear.
They began the show with "Bikes and Bridges" My favorite song of theirs, and also the first one I had ever heard by them. What a way to start the show. I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one singing along, and that people were actually into the show. I believe they played every song from "Share What Ya Got" except for "hey kathleen, are you hungry?" "lullabies" and "response to griot." They also played some stuff from split albums (Like sometimes motion, which is a song I really love), and some new material which was really good. Singing and swaying and dancing with friends there was quite good.
At the end of the show I congradulated the bassist for being so awesome, and wanted to talk to the musicians more, but didn't have time.
So the bad: Wish it was longer, wish I Didn't forget my camera, kinda sad that they couldn't find a band to open for them around here, and that their venue was a record store.
The good: everything else.
Really enjoyed the concert.

That sounds awesome. I can't wait 'til they tour Europe in the Summer.
Went there with a few friends, including my brother who had never been to this venue.
The first band was The Mighty Narwhale, which is a local band that has two graduates from my school in it. They were a really fun band. They were very happy, and played a wide variety of instruments between the 6 of them including a violin, trombone, playskool music toy thing, and an acordian. They were very good. Cheered me up (even though I didn't need it, because I was allready in a good mood).
The second band Ari Ari, is held in high regard by critics around here. They're an intense band with a screaming female vocalist. For almost their entire set I sat in the back on a comfy couch. Their music was allright, but I expected more because of all the hype they've been given. They're definitely something to see live, and not to listen to from an album.
Finally, the band I was there to see, Tub Ring. Most of their set they played new songs that I don't really know, but they were still very good. The whole band was so intense. Even with the musicians jumping around like crazy, they still played very well, and their stuff is kind of difficult. They played their best song "bite the wax tadpole" where in the middle of the song where it gets slow, the singer brought his mic stand into the middle of the crowd, where everyone surrounded him. Then he started singing.
I have to say I really didn't expect moshing at their show, but there was. There was this idiot goth kid trying to crowd surf every second of the show, and towards the end people were really getting sick of him. These guys kept flashing the band, which I thought was humorous.
The band also had a "metal interlude" where the singer spent the whole time throwing the horns in various ways, which I also thought was really funny. He was so intense about it.
Their last song was "Rock your body" by Justin Timberlake. I moshed to it, because when would you ever get the chance to mosh to a Justin Timberlake song?
The show was worth the 8 dollars. Although their not exactly a punk band, I still thought I could still write a gig diary entry.

Thursday:
Black Tax: Tight rocking fastcore. Good stuff. The bassist's strap kept coming off which led to her rocking out on one leg at one point as she balanced the bass on her knee. 6.5/10
Two other support bands whose names I didn't catch: One generic hardcore/emo/screaming sort of band with a front man whose mouth made him look brain damaged and the other a boring post-punky sort of band with a sax that had one half-way decent song. I watched Jacob's Ladder with subtitles while these bands were playing.
I Farm: Rocking. Great songs, great atmosphere and they seemed like relaly nice guys. 7.5/10
Friday:
Skindred: Very heavy. They're a pretty good band. The songs were good and pretty anthemic. The singers Jamaican/Welsh accent made me laugh. 6.5/10
Gogol Bordello A 90 minute set with some great songs (but not my favourites) spoilt slightly by the fact I don't like the Astoria (partly due to the arsehole security). The crowd was really into it and so were the band. I crowdsurfed at one point and towards the end the lead singer put a big drum on top of the crowd then stood on it and surfed. Pretty epic. I was almost dead by the end. 8.2/10
*so jealous* I can't believe that Gogol Bordello came around here somewhat recently, but it was before I knew who they were, so I missed it. :(

No Choice:
Standard political punk band. They played pretty well. Their singer didn't really know what to do with himself when he wasn't singing. 6/10
Murder by Death:
Good band. Like a punk Old Crow Medicine Show. Lots of songs about whiskey, prison and the devil. The singer had a cool voice. 8/10
Against Me!
They kept the crowd waiting ages bu from the moment they came on they rocked. They opened with From Her Lips to God's Ears and played my favourite songs, Reinventing Axl Rose, Pints of Guiness Make You Strong (during which I crowdsurfed) and We Laugh at Danger and Break All the Rules (their closer during which I almost winded myself from singing along). The other songs I can remember them playing are: Those Anarcho Punx are Mysterious, Problems, Turn Those Clapping Hands into Angry Balled Fists, Don't Lose Touch (which sounds just like You Can Get It If You Really Want) and Walking is Still Honest but there's loads I forgot as half the time I was just trying to stay on my feet during crowd surges. It was a great gig. 9/10
Was the crowd all extremely close together, swaying around and singing their lungs out?

I caught a couple of songs of Deathskulls but not really enough to judge them. They seemed alright.
The Grit:
I've heard good things about this band but hadn't seen them before. They blew me away. Punk 'n' **** 'n' Roll. They were basically punk but with a double-bassist (who was awesome) that gave them a great edge. The bassist and the guitarist both got into the crowd at various times. They had some great songs including I Came Out the Womb an Angry Cunt and Whoever You Are. I bought an EP at the end. 9.5/10
Deadline:
I've seen them before but not for ages. They played well, with a lot of songs from Back for More which is the only album of theirs I know. They covered Hanging on the Telephone which was cool but I'd probably preferred their version of Sheena is a Punk Rocker. 8/10
The Filaments:
Insane. They played all their best songs, the Pit was great, they covered White Man in Hammersmith Palais and ended on Bastard Coppers and Patricia. They also got a split coming out with the Stockyard Stoics soon apparently which should be great. 9/10
It was a fantastic gig. Three great bands, three hours of awesomeness. I'm ****ing knackered now.

Been a while since someone has done one of these..
Spanish Bombs
Probably the most generic hardcore band I have ever heard. It's not that they were horrible, but there was nothing to them. 3/10
Paint it Black
I'm trying my best not to be biased, but they were fkin great. It was my first time seeing them and I was really excited going into it. Yemin and the two guys from AAJ were funny and entertaining the whole time. They balanced the talking and playing music time very well. Setlist was good, and for 'Memorial Day', Dave Haus came out to sing his part which was pretty cool. 9/10
The Explosion
I hadn't heard too much of this band before seeing them, and it was basiclly what I expected. Decent punk anthems the whole time. Their setlist seemed way too long to me, it kinda droned on. Maybe because most the songs sound exactly the same. The pit was real fun for this band, but they arent a band I would really want to check out in the future. 6.5/10
Bouncing Souls
Unfortunently, they didn't play as well as I had thought. They started off with some pretty good, fast songs that of course everyone was into. But then, they played 3 straight slower songs which kinda killed the energy, especially for me. The rest of the set was a little better than average. Nothing spectacular or anything.. I was a little disappointed since I really like this band, and when I saw them at Warped '04, I really enjoyed them. Maybe it's just me... 7.5/10
