There's nothing you can do to become a moderator except become a respected member among your peers, a proven responsible member and things like that. There's no application, you are quite simply chosen. If the need be and we the moderators feel a new mod is required, then that's when the magic happens. Doesn't look like we're looking for anyone right now.

TOO many official threads......we do talk alot about bands like blink, green day, and TBS, but do we need an official thread for bands like sum 41 who will probably stop getting talked about after a short bit? it just seems like these "all together now" threads are killing the forums. I think you can just start one when ever you want. I think the only thing they prefer is to make sure there is not like loads of them all ready and if they are I think thats when you can create an Official threade that is MOD endorsed. Don't hold me to this though.

Popularity has nothing to do with the term pop-punk. Pop-punk is simply put, punk with poppier lyrics. A lot of bands that get filed as pop-punk actually aren't technically pop-punk at all. Real pop-punk is very strongly connected to the punk scene.

Though pop punk belongs in another forum this needs to be clarified. There are 2 forms of pop punk. Pop punk, and popular punk. Pop punk is Ramones, Descendents, some Nofx and Bouncing Souls and Greenday. This is defined by a bouncy sound and carefree, happy or funny lyrics. It is not mainstream.

Popular punk is blink 182, NFG, Greenday, Good Charlotte. You can just as easily read this as pop rock or power pop. The punk means they were influenced by punk but typically they reperesent no true punk ideals. They are mainstream and dont care. They may sound like the bands above. But they are part of the only thing punk is not supposed to be part of. The mainstream.

You will notice that Greenday is in both categories. They started as pop punk and became popular punk because they became popular.

I don't know why I was banned. I tryed to log in yesterday and it said I wasn't allowed access. Me and one of my friends were joking around in the rock and metal section one day. I wasn't poking fun of it I didn't think but somebody disagreed with one of my posts....Can you get banned for that though? Lots of people were doing the same thing in my BFS threade and I don't think they were banned. How do I know if it's only temp.?

Something you've got to bear in mind with Tool is that a lot of what they say about themselves is utter crap, as if in not even approaching true. They just do it as part of their "think for yourself" philosophy. But anyway, this really isn't the place for this...

Yeah I go pretty easy on everybody in here, but keep in mind other mods in other forums might run things differently.

Personally I don't see that big of a deal about the forum title. Emo is kind of with ska in the fact there's a few places to talk about it on the site but not really once centralized place, and I think that's kind of cool.

Cause we all talk about different stuff anyways, like metalcore and hardcore etc. Emo would just bring in Dashboard kids, and we would have endless discussions over what emo really is, and fourfa would be everywhere, and it would be madness. Not only that but you would start to see a lot of "Emo Sux!!!!" threads in here. I come in this part of the forums a lot more now because it is "cleaner" per se than the punk forum I used to be in all the time. And the fact that I like pop-punk almost equally. I just think if emo was in the title, for the first month at least, Rock & Metal kids would come over and blatantly bash emo and flood this place with anti-emo threads. Then a lot of new people to the forum would come in and do the same. Things just wouldn't be the same.

If they're a true punk band, they're still punk. If they change their sound simply to appeal to a larger audience and gain popularity, you can add them to the pop-punk roster.

Having it as pop-punk is good. I bet you 25% of the kids that come on here are the ones that think The Starting Line is emo. Having pop-punk as the forum name usually dissuades them from going in here, since they are looking for the word emo. And I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have them in here. They usually end up going to punk or alternative and indie. Once again, I'd rather see Alt. And Indie and Punk type out the long "They are not emo, emo is..." crap. Then they can come in here already educated and we don't have to own/educate (as much as I like flaming n00bs).
