I absolutely agree with this. There is no real Blink discussion going on anymore. And then when someone like Kif comments that the thread is, in fact, supposed to be used to discuss Blink-182 and all related side projects, you get responses like the one from letter bomb on the last page.

I'm sorry, but I totally disagree with the closing of the blink thread. First of all, the discussion about other bands was started by somebody who posted covers of blink that his band had done. So then some people started posting bands that they either thought sounded like blink, or got into because of blink in some way. The guitar discussion started with the discussion of Tom's guitars and why we would or would not want one of them.

Considering that there is nothing going on with the band right now, and it's anyone's guess as to whether or not there will be, I don't see how this qualifies as being "off topic". We eventually always got back to discussing the band or it's members anyways, no matter what we talked about. I don't see what the problem was, and I don't see why anyone felt the need to complain, let alone close the thread.

Not really, everything in there was at least some way related to the band or it's members. Some of it was off topic and yeah, we had morons who would simply spam away, but the majority of us kept everything blink related.

Just look what's happening now that the thread is closed, there are like 5 separate threads relating to blink on the first page, and there will probably be more. I doubt that would have happened if the thread was still open.

In reality, we have enough regulars here that each could write one FA per year and we'd pretty much fulfill my goal of 2 per month. Currently Dan, Tjebby, and I are planning on writing FAs, but I wish there was a stronger desire among everyone to do them. I know as long as I have the time I'll write them very frequently, but it's sort of lame that there's so little interest in it. Don't you guys like to whore your favorite bands?

I personally think emailing you about FAs is a bad idea. Why not just make a thread about it? You can post the ones which have already been done, and ones which people are planning to do so others know which bands have been taken?

I've done 4 large band profiles in the punk section recently that could be posted again in here i suppose if necessery. I did NOFX, the descendents, the adicts and the buzzcocks.

Unless it's an absolutely unknown band there is some information though, you just have to look around. Like I said, if each person here did like...on per year it'd be enough, so I think asking you to do a little bit of research isn't a huge stretch.

In theory this will be more thought out and well put together. I agree there could have been more participants, but keeping a set number and teams keeps it organized and better.

That's what I don't understand; "Organized and better". I mean, it's an internet forum. All threads are generally organized if the topic is good, and if some people in them decide to be dicks and begin arguments then there's the debate itself. And even then, Spencer or Joel, or ever sting or S4L (If they ever come back) can help break it up.

I believe we can, I think I did it a few times to change some offensive avatars. You just use the mod CP.
