In 1989, some Pink Floyd fan magazine voted Seamus the worst Pink Floyd song. They also voted The Final Cut as the worst album, even though the editors of the magazine voted it the best album.
Honestly, I'd have to agree with them.
Seamus is an OK song, but it's pretty far down on the list of Pink Floyd songs that I like.
The Final Cut also just doesn't seem like a PF album to me.
They really don't have very many bad songs or albums. Just different ones (PATGOD is very hard for me to like, but I still wont say that it's bad). The Final Cut was OK, definitly not as good as their best stuff. Not even close.

I preffer the Live At Pompeii's Seamus remake, Mademoiselle Nobs.
The harmonica, the howling dog and no lyrics made it interesting to me. =D

I find that Piper at the Gates was the worst one. That really didn't sound like Pink Floyd, and the musical feel was just not there. I know it's because Barret was in the band and Gilmour had not joined yet, but still.

It's not that it's bad, it's just completely different. It's kind of like Sgt. Pepper's Beatles but much more psychadelic.

If anybody needs some good backing tracks, check this site out. (go to 'Soundclips')
http://www.gilmourish.com/welcome.html
It has a version of Time IDENTICAL to the actual song, except the solo is gone (it's not some hack job cut out either, the solo track was just never put in). There are also some other good BT's as well, user created, but still top notch.
If you have never been to this site (which is unlikely), go there right now.

I'd say something off of Final Cut.
MLOR and DB are much better albums than the overly conceptual Final Cut. It reminds me of Amused To Death at times.
I'd say every song on The Wall (though musically insignificant) is still important as a means to tell the story. That being said, Floyd's worst song is probably Crying Song. Whilst it is only mediocore itself, the fact it follows The Nile Song (which is wonderful) makes it seem worse off.

Dine on you famous fatass
Now there's a steak on your plate
Like you need to gain weight?
Dine on you famous fatass
You got lodged in the armchair
You stuck to the leather
Grown horizontally
Come on you eater of chocolate candy

You reached to the freezer too soon
You cried for a spoon
Dine on you famous fatass
Hampered by clothes grown too tight
Lost the talent to write
Dine on you famous fatass
Well you wore out your britches
With many fish dishes
Screamed for some real cheeze
Come on you fatty
You eater of waffles
Come on you eater
Of pasta

And dine!
Nobody knows what you are
A walrus or car?
Dine on you famous fatass
Pile on many more layers
Don't forget the tomatoes!
Dine on you famous fatass
And you'll bask in the dim glow
Of refridgerators
Eat until you burst
Come on you big boy

Come on you consumer of pork chops and Triscuits

Pigs is definitely my favorite, although I have to admit Dogs is a tad overrated (not to say I don't love the guitar solos.) Wright simply owns on Sheep and Pigs. I love the middle of Pigs with the distorted screams. The vocals rock, too. The middle part of Sheep with the computer reading Psalm 21 sounds like something Radiohead would do.

The ones in the Floyd song are clearly a message poking fun at the people listening, though, whereas the Stairway ones are some far-fetched lyrics that you have to try to here.

I'll admit the biblical chant in the middle is a bit off-putting, but the rest of the song is awesome. Waters' voice somehow seems perfect for that song, and they rock the keyboard, drums, bass, and guitar well, giving each their awesome bits. I've said it before; Gilmour's riff at the end is the greatest of all time IMO. If you want to do it, that's cool. I think Gilmour is amazing, but I can see how someone who's a big fan of Malmsteen or Petrucci or any of those types wouldn't like Gilmour.
Actually, I'm a big fan of Petrucci, but I'm still a big fan of Gilmour.

I don't think guitar magazines are really worth it. I'll buy one every once in a while, but there isn't much that interests me in there, it's usually because of one interview or song they have tabbed out.
I'm listening to Pink Floyd at Live 8 again, very cool. Can anybody upload any other Pink Floyd bootlegs? I'm really dieing to hear anything live by them.
Do you have Prism? If not, I can upload that. Also, if you don't have it, you should get the David Gilmour acoustic DVD, it's really amazing.

I can upload a 1972 (I'm pretty sure) concert of them playing DSotM, but different in a few ways (On The Run is an instrumental jam, Time is extended, etc.) ad also they start playing SOYCD, but the file ends before they start singing. I was cofused about this at first (why they did SOYCD with DSotM) but then I read that they performed it a lot live before WYWH, and also that when this concert was played they hadn't finalized the tracklist yet. I would go ahead and upload it, but the jerkoff who made the file made it a movie file, even though there's no video, so it's way bigger than it eeds to be. If anyone says they want it, I'll upload it
(PS: It's the same thing I uploaded a while back)

This version of "On The Run" is talked about on the DSTOM Classic Albums dvd. I think they called it "The Travel Piece", and were playing it like this live before recording it using a synth.

Gad you guys are liking the DSotM bootleg. It is a little inconvenient to have it is as one long song, but if you listen to any Floyd album like you're supposed to you listen tothe entire thing through. Personally, I think Echoes is one of Floyd's more average "jam/epic long-*** songs" It's not bad, no, it's good. I just think stuff like SOYCD and Dogs are a little more... I don't know. Echoes just feels too, empty or something. It's a good song to just vibe to (or I'm sure to most Floyd listeners outside this thread, get high to), but others just seem to have more feel in them.
I actually just bought Meddle today (I had already heard Echoes though) and I think my favorite song on there has to be One of These Days. It's just so hard-rocking, pretty unlike Floyd actually. The rest of the album is good too though. Both a Pillow of Winds and Fearless are pretty cool songs, San Tropez has kind of a cool tropical vibe to it, and I really don't see why people seem to hate Seamus so much. It just sounds like the band was having fun and just making a fun song (although there might have been more at work there *ahem* drugs) and Echoes does finish it off pretty nicely. Another ace Floyd effort.
By the by, what is the crowd chanting in Fearless? It sounds like an audience at a soccer match or something, or at a concert. Did Floyd take live ambient sound form one of their earlier concerts and mix it in, or what?

Hey, do any of you guys find it kind of sad that kids coming up nowadays and in future years will quite likely never hear stuff like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath or other classic rock stuff? Animals was the first album I ever listened to. I was in 6th grade at the time and I was obsessed with it. It actually had Meddle on the other side too. But anyway I listened to it so many times my mom got mad and made me listen to something else, because she was tired of hearing it.
Hey, do any of you guys find it kind of sad that kids coming up nowadays and in future years will quite likely never hear stuff like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath or other classic rock stuff? I mean think about it. These bands that were so original, and had so much talent, and the recognition they get just goes down and down.
Sort of, but I feel it is my role to spread the great music of yesterday to everybody around me. I've already turned 3 of my friends into almost bigger Floyd fans than I am.
In the near future, there probably won't be any more instruments. Everything will just be electronic and virtual. Songs will just be electronic jamboree's of various drum beats with off-key robotic vocals.
/realizes this is probably true :upset:

Personally, I think Echoes is one of Floyd's more average "jam/epic long-*** songs" It's not bad, no, it's good. I just think stuff like SOYCD and Dogs are a little more... I don't know. Echoes just feels too, empty or something. It's a good song to just vibe to (or I'm sure to most Floyd listeners outside this thread, get high to), but others just seem to have more feel in them.I think "Echoes" is quite possibly my favorite song of all time. It's not "average" by any length IMO. Why would you say outside of this thread? I'm a HUGE Floyd fan and I love to toke up while hearing it. It fits the mood perfectly. Just because we go in this thread it doesn't mean we're more sophisticated or better of a fan of them.
Top 3 Floyd Epics:
-----------------
1. Echoes------------------\
2. Intersteller Overdrive-----/ These 2 often rotate as my favorite song of all music.
3. SOYCD

At least what Era is it?
A medley with Echoes is on Prism. It's a great bootleg, 2 discs.

I'd say the Atom Heart Mother Suite is the most under rated Floyd song. It is an amazing song that doesn't recieve much mention.

Hmm...well where to start...Floyd is amazing. The part in Comfortable Numb that goes "Is there anybody in there?" was kinda eerie the first time I heard the song.
I hate to tell you but both albums are pretty eerie.

Not to start a fight, but how can you not like Animals?
I always found it a bit boring. I just have trouble getting into it. I enjoy it, just not as much as most other Floyd albums. But, I haven't listened to it in awhile, I'll give it another shot.

I donīt like AHMS, I think itīs kinda boring for a 25 min song. Although Gilmourīs small guitar solo is awesome.

2. David Gilmour, Robert Johnson, John McLaughlin
3. Frank Zappa, Allman, Eddie Hazel, Jimi Hendrix
HM: Syd Barrett
Although I don't think Gilmour is the even close to these guys in playing; I think he has one of the (if not the best) best styles I've ever seen. I love Syd's style aswell not as talented as these guys though.

time to upload something
ok, this bootleg is David Gilmour, some time in the past 5 years, with Kate Bush
I have a file which is just the song, which you cant really hear the solo too well
I have another which has better audio, but the video iant too great, but still not bad.
And then I have this file which is called David Gilmour guitar lesson, but it has several songs which are very very close up to his guitar whiel he's playing, even comfortably numb. This file includes the file im gonna upload but just the solo, it also has high hopes, great day for freedom, shine on you crazy diamond, and some others. But it's 300megs so ill upload it another day, because it has a far better quality video of what im uploading now.
For now:
enjoy

3-Johnny Greenwood(maybe not as great as the other 2, but i love his playing style)
Those are my top 3.
*listening to pigs right now*
For some reason, my favorite song off that album is Pigs On The Wing Part One. There's just something about it. When he says "Watching, The pigs on the wing" it makes me feel fuzzy inside :)

As for favorite guitarists, I really couldn't narrow it down to a top 3 type thing, but I'll list some of my favorites (Gilmour is probably number one, but I don't know for sure).
Gilmour
Jeff Beck
SRV
George Harrison

How did it lead to the creation to the wall?
:( how many times do i have to repeat this
did ANY of you ever watch any of the pink floyd biographies
July 6th 1977, Montreal Canada, Olympic Stadium
Stadium filled with about 115 000 people
Pink Floyd's Animal tour
During Pigs on the Wing Part 2, someone throws firework behind Roger Waters, which you can hear.
The fans were real idiots. (What a disgrace to montrealers like me)
Well at the end of the show Roger had enough and spat on this guy who climbed up on stage.
(during the Pigs solo..)
They went backstage and Roger felt really bad, David was furious at Roger for what he did, and didnt even come out to play the last song.
They canceled the rest of the tour
Roger Waters felt really really bad about what he did to that guy, and thought about it for a year. He finally came to the rest of the members with his creation... The Wall.
Saying it felt like during his time by himself where he thought about what he did, he had put a wall between him and others, and how when he played, it felt like there was a wall between him and his audience
Therefore.. The Wall.

Oh, cool cool. You wouldn't happen to know of a program that can split and/or combine tracks, do you? I wanna' try and take out SOYCD from WYWH and put it as it's own track, but than again, if I added Part 9 to it, it would be like 25 minutes long. hmm decisions decisions.

Either way, I gotta' burn this bootleg, it sounds real good at times. ha. They REALLY extended SOYCD part 9. Although, I think it's part 8 also. I'm not sure exactly when one begins and the other ends.
