Well the mainstream one is Roger after Pink Floyd broke up, but a bootleg of it surfaces once in a while in rare cd stores and ebay.

You know I was listening to The Nile Song, and well if Korn felt a huge need to cover a Floyd song I think they might have been able to do a good cover of it, but only if they had to, none would be better.

I bought Live at Pompeii. It was awesome. You enjoy more Floyd when you know where all the strange sounds are comming from (ie Careful With That Axe Eugene).
I'm pumped. Need more Floyd.
You know just one more thing on that I was just listening to it (yea I found a bootleg cd of it at a used cd store) and I never realized before but Nick Mason owns on Saucerful of Secrets, more then usual, I think thats his best work.

Yea I'm used to the drumming pace he used during Ummagumma, so this was really impressive for me. You know I heard sombody complaining about the track listing and said they wished they had a dvd of their latter works. While that would be nice I'm glad they did their earlier work. They are such good jam songs.

Pink Floyd albums not done on Sputnik:
More:The Soundtrack To The Motion Picture
Ummagumma

Compilations not included.
I'm considering re-reviewing DSOTM and Animals.

Well, Blue Floyd has been around since 1999 or 2000, they just haven't toured in a while because the old lead singer died and he had formed the band. But I do agree about a lot of Floyd craze, the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular is on tour right now, I just saw it about 2 weeks ago here in Philly. And Aussie Floyd did their first east coast tour of the States awhile ago, which was amazing.

what are pigs on the wing?
Well the way I interpret it (though its prob not the same as Roger) is well there is a saying "when pigs fly" so I figured it was people who break the rules and do the unexpected, and explore unchartted territory, in other words, those who rebel.
TerryThorne
02-28-2005, 09:27 PM

Well a dog who has never thought for himself would naturally fear an animal that has. The fact they have no control over the Pig on the Wing is what I think scares them.

To the Dogs/Pigs conversation. The Dogs represent the military police in a communist society. The Pigs are the rich, controlling interests. The reason even Dogs need shelter is because these Pigs wield immense power over all who live under them. Think of a Pig On The Wing as being an immense overlord, hovering above the earth and casting a shadow over the everyday activities of the average man.

Truth. Koalas just climb around very lethargically, munching on some sparse Australian plant, whereas Penguins slide around on icebergs on their bellies, swimming, having sex, and just basically owning the North and South poles. :thumb:

I have The Division Bell. I appreciate it more than their other peice of work without Waters, being A Momentary Lapse of Reason, but I don't agree with you that it is their best work. The insturmentals are great, but lets face it. Gilmour isn't that great of a lyricist. :upset: Still, very nice if you're on a roadtrip. :thumb:

Not quite sure how this happened, but my school's Battle of the Bands is at the end of the month, and each band plays 3-5 songs. I'm playing lead guitar for 3 bands. Any good advice for quick tunes? Two of the bands I've never played with before, but they want me to play lead for them. Not quite sure how I got in this mess, especially with all the school work I need to do, but any advice would be MAJORLY appreciated. THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY
THE MAN
a) Daybreak (band-version of Grantchester Meadows)
b) Work (early version of Biding My Time)
c) Afternoon (break, where tea was served for the band on stage)
d) Doing It (Up The Khyber)
e) Sleeping (Quicksilver)
f) Nightmare (Cymbaline)
g) Daybreak (Instrumental version of Grantchester Meadows)
THE JOURNEY
a) The Beginning (Green Is The Colour)
b) Beset The Creatures Of The Deep (Careful With That Axe, Eugene)
c) The Narrow Way (Band-version of The Narrow Way, part three)
d) The Pink Jungle (Pow R. Toc H.)
e) The Labyrinth Of Auximenes (mid-section from Interstellar Overdrive)
f) Behold The Temples Of Light (Instrumental)
g) The End Of The Beginning (Celestial Voices from A Saucerful Of Secrets)
'The Man and the Journey' were one of Pink Floyd's early concept-shows performed the first time April 14, 1969 in Royal Festival Hall, London. The event was titled 'The Massed Gadgets Of Auximenes - More Furious Madness From Pink Floyd'. Both parts of the show contained of improvisations around different Floyd songs, many of them closely related to the soundtrach from the film More, which was written simultaniously.
A recording of the show was meant to be released, but cancelled because most of the material was already released in other versions. 'The Man and the Journey' is only available on bootleg-recordings. One recording circulating is done by dutch radio VPRO in Amsterdam September 17, 1969. A part of the show was recorded for the radio-show 'Top Gear' on May 12, 1969. The recording has been released on the more ore less official italian CD: 'Pink Floyd - The Complete Top Gear Sessions' (GDR CD 9206/AB).

The original plan was to take the photo like it appears on the cover, without any photo doctoring. They inflated the pig, and got it into position, but it got loose and flew away. They did get a picture of the sky during that day though. The next day, they got a picture of the pig above the building, but they didnt like the picture of the sky too much, so they took the Pig from day 2 and put it on day 1's background.

When Clapton played for Waters did he also sing Gilmours parts? I don't know his voice would different.

I don't remember. I think Waters sang the whole time.

I'm pretty sure Waters did all the singing, and Clapton just did all the soloing and lead.

I don't know how good that would be then I mean Waters had a lot of trouble getting Gilmour's voice done well for Wish You Were Here on In the Flesh.

Supposedly if you start dark side of the moon at second or third roar of the MGM lion at the start of the movie, the album lines up exactly with what's happening in the movie.

Yep. It wasn't a big epic thing or anything. Waters has lost his singing capability unfortunitley, and Wish You Were Here isn't much of a guitar song either.

If it's just a collection of a few albums it's pointless because very few people will buy it without already owning one or two of the albums.

Dont buy floyd's greatest hits album i think its called echoes... all the songs they have are all smashed togther in floyd style..
you just cant do that. you cant play wish you were here and then blend it into say another brick in the wall,,, two totally different styles and moods... they just cant mix
if you wanna hear floyds awsome power buy all the albums... they are worth it... especially meddle i think its the underated one but sounds just as good as dsotm or the wall!

Is it just me, or does Cicatriz Esp by the Mars Volta take alot of things from Meddle? I heard a bassline that sounds alot like the one in One of These days, and the part in the middle is extremely similair to the middle part of echoes...
