of course it was amazing

derek can crack his snare drum head, keep jammin on hi hats and kick with dan playin bass and switch snare drums with one hand while matt talks to the crowd and then finish up the song...quite amazing i dont really know many bands who could pull that off...

Nah.

From Here to Infirmary is my favourite album, closley followed by Goddammit and Maybe I'll catch Fire, then s/t, then Good Mourning, then Crimson.

They're all bloody good albums though.

Bad Blood
08-01-2005, 12:52 PM
I think Crimson is awesome.

The order for me would be Good Mourning, From here to infirmary, Crimson, God dammit, Maybe i'll catch fire.

I haven't heard S/t yet, i might buy it next time im in town.

Good Mourning is my favourite without a doubt.

Goddammit is their weakest.

Bad Blood
08-01-2005, 12:58 PM
I used to hate From Here To Infirmary, i love it now.

God dammit has the worst recording quality i think. The songs are still good though.

Goddamnit! is amazing. Their weaker albums are the newer ones. FHTI is their best me thinks.

Oz Rembrandt

Dans Bass on Goddammit sounds so... ROAR. I wish I could get mine to sound like that. I love the poor recording quality (Like Green Days 1039/Smooth), I think it sounds much rawer and much more energetic.

Bad Blood
08-01-2005, 01:31 PM
I know what you mean. Personally, i think greendays older stuff is alot better because of that reason.
I do like Goddammit a lot. Theres not much between my favourite album and my least favourite.

i dont really have a fav/least fav alk3 cd it kinda depends on what mood im in...

and to the guy who hasnt heard s/t yet...it's well worth buying for sure

also their splits are pretty good...i dont like hot water music but even their songs on that split are good and i fell in love with that song while youre waiting...love the lyrics
i havent heard any of the one man army portion of that split, but whenever i get some more money im definately buying it..

08-01-2005, 01:55 PM
I liked their Radio cover, but I wasn't too sure about Bleeder...

My favourite order would be: From Here To Infirmary, God****it, Crimson, Good Mourning, Maybe I'll Catch Fire

I don't have their S/T either, I thought it was a compilation?

s/t is a compilation of all their old demos i think...just mastered its got the same style sound as god****it...but i think one or 2 songs are on both albums, but were different recordings cause glenn played em different on each one...still a great album...a lot more upbeat than newer stuff and they have a cure cover on there (exploding boy) which they did a great job on

the breakdown on sundials is hard as sh!t on drums...im still tryin to work that out after like a year and a half or somethin

Alkaline Trio don't have breakdowns in their songs.

HitHardDrums55
08-01-2005, 03:27 PM
i dont know what it would be i call it a breakdown...i dont know the real word for it...the part where the drums change a lot and then every i guess 2 measures glenn adds something on to it, it just gets really tricky its right after the 2nd chorus in sundials...what would that be? like a bridge or interlude or whatever?

Let's Chop Cats!
08-01-2005, 03:31 PM
Bridge most likely.

Mmm-kay, so if I were to hang around outside the Apollo for these guys to sign something, would they come out?
Quite possible if theres only one exit/stage door.

Me and my mates often stand around outside the acadamy waiting for bands to come out, but more often then not our taxi comes before we see them. You might also be waiting way over an hour.

poprocks&coke

And would I see them if I went before the show? Some people at Green Day tried to do that, I don't know what happened though.

At places like the appollo theres a chance, but with greenday they proberly wont. With most big places the coachs are parked in a fenced off bit so people dont get mobbed. I know that at the acadamy in manc that the buses arnt blocked off and they walk threw the mob. I dunno if this is the same where ever your going..

Religous beliefs are no reason not to like a band. Im a Satanist, and I have Christian friends. They dont hold it against me at all, because they like me for who I am, just like if the musics good, then listen to it.

Dan Andriano isnt a Satanist...

matt and derek are card-carrying members of the church of satan, but i think both of them (maybe just one?) has a card just piss people off...i know matt isn't really a satanist but if it will piss people off he'll say he is

also, http://www.churchofsatan.com it has absolutely NOTHING about having to worship satan, it's just makin fun of organized relgion sort of...read the 11 satanic rules of earth, they're actually KIND OF peaceful..(not word for word: dont harm little children; dont kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for food; do not bother one in an open area, if he messes with you ask him to stop, if he does not stop destroy him)

so no reason to hate the trio for "religious beliefs"...anyway isnt that sort of like hating a band cause theyre muslims? or jews? its still prejudiced and your God would look down on it

I too am a card carrying member, and really do follow the teachings of Anton LaVey. Its more thatn just "making fun of other religons", its about doing what is natural human behaviour...

but anyway, not liking a band because of their religon is stupid.

I ****ing hate it when people harp on at me when I go on about Satanism. It interests me, god****it. Just because I'm not a Christian and happen to be born on the same day as the antichrist does not mean I'm evil.

When people say they are willing to take in any religious beliefs but dismiss Satanism, that IS being prejudice, and goes against what Christianity teaches.

So there :p

chumpradio

After looking at that, I agree with all the aspects of the Church Of Satan I think. I may have to research it a bit more, I may consider being a member.

P.rocker
08-07-2005, 12:42 AM
The Church of Satan and really like any relegion are based on mostly opinions and doesn't really know what to believe. You mostly believe what you are raised up into or some people might join another relegion for the wrong reasons to just brag or see it relates more to them. It's all a matter of preference really. If you want to worship and call the devil dad, then go for it. If you want to be a jew, muslim, buddha, christian they do that to. Believe what you want to believe and in the end we shall all see what the meaning of life is. But enough of me preaching and to be on topic again. I didn't know that Matt and Derek had anything to do with the Church of Satan. Hmmmmm

I did after reading that thread.
I was listening to Good Mourning for the first time in ages yesterday, and I never noticed how good Derek's drumming actually is on the album. I always thought he's a great drummer, but never realised he did it on the album as well as live and on Crimson.

Oz Rembrandt
08-07-2005, 05:33 AM
Have you seen Live at the Metro? He puts down one of his sticks to take a drink of water halfway through playing, then carrys on with the other hand, before picking up his stick and carrying on!

I'm no drummer, but Im pretty sure THATS impressive.

chumpradio

Yeah, that's a great DVD.
That's the DVD that made me realise how amazing Derek is.
The trio have a tendency for decent drummers, Mike Felumlee was great as well, as was Glenn Porter (I think that's his name).

Oz Rembrandt
08-07-2005, 06:40 AM

I ****ing love the Trio. Seeing them in November, the day before my birthday, it's gonna be awesome. I love all their songs it just depends on my mood since I go through phases of being addicted to different songs.

At the moment it's Queen of Pain, Fatally Yours, If we never go inside.

I'm slightly disappointed with Crimson though, it's not a bad album, but it just lacks the quality that makes me want to listen to it all the way through whereas FHTI, Good Mourning etc are solid throughout.

If you listen to Enjoy Your Day, which is an awesome acoustic by Dan, at 0:45 in the song, Dan sings "My dear..." and he sounds like Kermit when he says "my". You have to listen to it twice and listen out, it's quite funny.

Few things you should know about me.....

I love Dan more than anyone on this planet, save for Sunshine, but she's a woman so she can accomplish things I probably couldn't. I would go gay for dan in a half of a heart beat. I've argued with many a girl about how I love him more than they did, and many guys too. I. Have. Always. Won. I am part of the blood pact and I went to my first real venue July 2nd. Theirs. Through the meet and greet, we ( me and maybe 5 other blood pact members) got to sit in on their sound check. The first song they played for us in whole without us walking in was " Smoke". Soul Shaking does not begin to describe it. I got to TOUCH Dan. I talked to him. I told him he was my hero. This is the man who I've asked to marry on the older official board. Dan shall forever hold my soul.

Now that we're past that, someone earlier in this thread ( page 8 I believe) said FHTI is perfection. Someone Get this person a medal. I saw a lot of people say that actually, and I must admit, I'm glad to hear it. Crawl is my soul song.

Alk3 SUPPORTING, MCR, that is just to aggravating for words, MCR doesn't even deseve to open for the opening band of Alk3, MCR is so overated. It isn't even funny. Their first album wasn't bad, but the new one got killed by the media, and it just stinks anyway. Anyway Alk3 opening for any bad is preposterous. What were they THINKING!

This was announced ages ago wasn't it?

Of course Alk3 are better than MCR, except ticket promoters dont care about that, MCR are way more mainstream and popular commercially.

Over here in the UK, MCR tickets SOLD OUT 3 days after going on the net.
Alkaline Trio been up for at least a few weeks and none are sold out as far as I know.

The trio shouldn't have agreed to do that tour. They have been going since 97 (I think), and have 6 amazing full length albums under their belt, whilst MCR have 2 inconsistent albums.
The trio deserve so much more than a supporting slot at a MCR tour.

'Prevent This Tragedy' is easily one of my favourites on the cd, it's very hard to use orchestral stringed instruments in music other than classical, and they pulled it off superbly.

Radio

Good Mourning:
Fatally Yours
Every Thug Needs A Lady
All On Black
One Hundred Stories
We've Had Enough

Crimson:
Time To Waste
Mercy Me
Sadie
Dethbed
Fall Victim

From here to infirmary:
Stupid Kid
Trucks & Trains
Armagedddon
Private Eye
Hell Yes

In my opinion, those are pretty catchy tracks with very recognisable choruses.

If you want a poppish-punk album FHTI is your safest bet as that in my opinion is their most radio friendly with catchy hooks and melodies.

Good Mourning is another good one although with a slightly darker feel to it.

Have you seen Live at the Metro? He puts down one of his sticks to take a drink of water halfway through playing, then carrys on with the other hand, before picking up his stick and carrying on!

I'm no drummer, but Im pretty sure THATS impressive.

watching derek play live is more interesting than watching the dvd, but the dvd does kick *** cause he does some cool stuff with his sticks like u've mentioned...i saw this video that i downloaded on limewire and its alk3 playing radio (not warped tour dvd version) and derek broke his snare drum head so he was jammin on hi hats and kick drum and dan was playin and matt stopped to talk to the crowd and told em derek broke his drum, so he puts his left hand drumstick in his mouth, picks up his snare drum and shows the crowd the hole in the head, then he picked up the one on the ground and its shiny and matt comments that its shinier anyway and derek shows off the shell then puts its down on his stand the whole time jammin on hats and kick with his stick in his mouth like biting a rose or whatever and when he's ready they pick back up

THAT is more amazing than the playing w/ one hand technique...because im so bad about throwing sticks i had to learn that so i could keep going until i could find another stick to play with

if u wanna see the video go on limewire and look for i think its called the basement where they played but it will say "radio (space jam version)" because when dan and derek are jammin matt goes "this is the space jam yall"

I've sort of gone off Private Eye and Stupid Kid because I have heard them so much, and those are the only songs a lot of people know, even though the rest are better, so if anyone ever has Alk3 on their mp3 player it tends to be those songs, or Armageddon, but Armageddon is just a truely amazing song.

Crawl is so amazing.
Yesterday I was in a "romantic sounding songs by Dan Andriano" mood.
A bit of You've Got So Far To Go, She Took Him To The Lake, Enjoy Your Day, Message From Kathlene, Crawl, Another Innocent Girl, Take Lots With Alcohol (Not quite so romantic sounding, but you can't expect me to miss it out. Amazing song), One Hundred Stories, Emma, Every Thug Needs A Lady, If We Never Go Inside, Settle For Satin, I Am A Prayer and Smoke.

...cause he knows how to pick 'em?

HitHardDrums55
08-14-2005, 08:20 PM
cause a drummer can pick out a truly amazing drummer way better than a guitarist who doesnt play drums...like a guitarist or bassist who doesnt really play drums or own a drumset or whatever would pick someone who could play crazy fast or cool sounding beats, but a drummer could pick a drummer who can play fast, smooth, complex (while still sounding simple unless you really focus on the drum parts alone OR just plain complex as sh!t), yet knows when to keep it simple and has technique...if any of that makes any sense....i just think that the fact that matt used to play drums and did the drums for his solo stuff plays a role in the trio never having a half decent drummer always amazing

Chill out a bit, eh?

the support act were a bit crap though way to muffled, they were called something like compliation or something like that i cant remeber.

This was the first time i saw them live, they are really so much better live than on record. i wish i was going to leeds but i'm broke.

lastly did anyone else notice that it was insanly loud i've still got ringing in my ears.

QUIET!!! how the hell was it quiet but i kinda guess the vocals were a bit lower than everything else. i remeber them playing Time To Waste first obviously then Sadie about 3 songs later i don't know what they played for the encore i was wayy to sweaty and dehidrated.

i was stupid enough to wear one of my old MCR t-shirts when i used to like them all the stupid emo girls were like Man i hate MCR they'r gay. i had such an afro after that gig.

Quick question, i don't know if you'd be able to answer it. Do you know if there's anyway for me to save these onto my computer because all of the videos i've downloaded from yousendit links stop playing after i close wondows or something, and i'd like to keep these especially.

The radio video is great, very good quality
