can somebody upload the Alkaline Trio song from the Cursed soundtrack? I don't want to buy the whole CD (iTunes won't let me buy just one song from that soundtrack and i dont know/like most of the bands on there) and it's not coming up on Limewire. I have the original Fine Without You on the split CD w/ OMA
Fine Without You (Carmen Rizzo/Jed Smith Indian Summer Remix)
^that's the full name of the song on the CD. once i have that i will have everything except the stuff on the new Burn single, i think.

I didnt really like the bonus edition of Crimsons second disk, except I thought the demo version for Dethbed was better than the normal version.
I'd be curious to get the burn single and listen to the test icicles remix, I'm not one for remixes but I really like test icicles, shame they're splitting.
Frankly I wished they had supported Alkaline Trio in bristol instead of ****ing Sunshine, they suck so much arse.

you do like alkaline trio. but get blue in the face, '97, they'll probably play Radio, clavicle, cooking wine, sundials is good, and i hope they play it when i see em again i've been dying to see anybody play that song flawlessly on drums and if anybody can do it, derek can...time to waste was a sick opening song when i saw them during summer, burn, i dunno go back a few pages and find random song names, and listen to em...they're all good!

I think Crimson is a far superior album to their older ones, especially the mixing on their 90's, early '00 stuff was terrible. Crimson is an addictive album and entertained me for a good week, but after giving it a month or two of rest and picking it up again it doesn't strike to me as anything special.
Chilly-Bean-Bop
03-14-2006, 10:03 AM
Mmhmm, I think that. I'm sure lots of other people do. I don't like Crimson, because all these faggots got the cd and are like, "OMG Alkaline Trio is like, soOoOo emo!!" and **** like that. I like their earlier albums, whether they are mixed properly or not, the songs are great.
Alkaline Prime
03-14-2006, 04:44 PM
I love the more raw sound of the early albums. And don't get me wrong, I believe they put everything into Crimson (and good mourning..same complaint) but there jsut seems to be more passion on the old albums.
I miss the long intrumental powerchord sections that could take up half the song ala Nose over tail. I prefer Matts old lyrical style more (I mean wtf is crashing inside of you like motorbikes?!)
The guys are getting older and moving in a more alternative direction, I've got no problem with it, but I won't love it like I do the first 4 albums. I saw them live the other night and it was a fun night. They started with about 5 or so old songs, and then the newer stuff let me down slightly.
HitHardDrums55
03-14-2006, 05:07 PM
yeah i pretty much like all their cds.
did they play sundials when you saw them?
last time i saw them they played jaked on green beers, and thats supposedly pretty rare according to the commentary on the live dvd...so that was fun. but i really wanna see derek play sundials on drums...thats by far the most challenging alk3 drum song. that and 97 can be tricky

i love alkaline trio! one of my favourite bands! i cant really decide what album i like best because they are all so great. They are immense song writers!! one of the best IMO. can i just say.. alkaline trio are not pop punk tho..they are punk (thats wot i think anyway) Matt and Dan both have such cool, good voices and they go so well together. ALK3 ROCK!!
Why are you saying a bunch of bands aren't pop-punk when they are.
Alk3 are not punk, at all.

"Join the BLOOD PACT and help the band choose their set-lists for the upcoming "Occult Roots" tour!! In addition to performing the "Goddamnit" album in it's entirety, the band is leaving it up to you to tell them what to play. Get the details here."

Yeah, they were good. Not near the top for me but definitely rockin'.
Last time I saw Alk3 was funny because they were opening for MCR and man...Alk3 fans were so brutal to those kids till they gtfo of the pit hahaha
Mute Print
04-02-2006, 12:56 AM
Hahaha.
Unfortunately, I would probably come off as one of the "kids". :(
For some reason, I always imagine Alk3 fans being similar to MCR fans. They seem to have a following of young girls.
That is just based off the fact that there are a handful of girls who like them at my school, though.
Permanent Solution
04-02-2006, 12:59 AM
No no, MCR fans are 12-15 year old girls, and thus just in the way.
Alk3 fans are 17-20 year old girls and actually have fun in the pit. Plus usually they have bfs with them...
It's ok though, unless you looked like a total scenester they probably weren't trying to knock you out...
Mute Print
04-02-2006, 01:02 AM
I don't look too much like a scenester.
I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to pits anyway. I always want to go in, and usually have fun if I make up my mind to just go for it, but a lot of times I choose not to. I'll definitely be having a good time at Alk3 though, seeing as it's during spring break.

Well, the UK version is.
It features the normal 10 tracks, plus has bonus songs of This Is Getting Over You, I Lied My Face Off, Snake Oil Tanker and Goodbye Forever.
They really make it my favourite Alk3 cd to put on, although it really does depend on my mood.

In the Pit there was a thread with all these links to random pictures and someone was like "oh god i just saw 0205" so I got curious and went to that image on the site they were getting them from (turns out it was a girl pooping in another girls mouth...quite gross) and somebody posted a picture of a girl with massive cameltoe...so I replied to that "that's cute, but not as cute as (insert link to girl pooping in other girls mouth)" So i get banned permanently on my other name...for mentioning the number of the picture where you can easily change it in any other link from that site, shouldn't the other person have gotten at least a temporary ban? They're re-releasing Goddamnit
OMG. It's the 10-year anniversary! Wow, them bitches is oooooooold.
I knew about this a while ago!
I thought Goddamnit! came out in 1998... so the 10th Anniversary would be 2008...
Oh wait, their first demo tape was released in 1996... makes sense then.
Johnny Quest.

it's Skiba's solo thing, apparently. I haven't seen the CD around anywhere, and I know it's not on iTunes. I don't have Limewire anymore, but I doubt I'd find it there.
What's your favorite Skiba song (not his solo versions of Trio songs), everyone?
Good ****ing Bye, so great and In Your Wake, that's great too.

Alkaline Trio is an amazing band. Private Eye is probably my favorite song.

Shall do. :)
I'm not big into Alk3, but I've been liking them a lot more as of late, so I'm sure it'll be a good time.

I'm going to see the Trio tonight, it's funny because I don't really care but I used to be really into Alkaline trio and was obsessed with the idea of going to seem em live but I never have, but that'll change tonight.
So I Was wondering, has anyone ever seen Alkaline trio live or seen em play recently? am I in for a good show?
EDIT: dips, Alkaline trio is pop punk?
Sweet.
I saw them last year. Wasn't anything too special really, although they were pressured by someone in the crowd to play "Warbrain". They hadn't practised it in a long time, but it was great to hear that song live, one of my favourites by them. I got their autographs as well, which is a bonus I guess.

would you guys be mad or think it would be cool if Richard Cheese did an Alk3 cover? that guy does some insane covers...(i hate slipknot but...) he did a good cover of one of their songs, did a good cover of enter sandman...great cover of come out and play (the offspring), from what i've heard of it, his cover of feelin' this is good too...so i know he does the pop-punk stuff, and doesn't have a problem with swearing (the slipknot song was People = Sh!t and no i'm not saying they or metallica are pop-punk) so i don't think it would be awkward for him to do one

it'd be stupid because Alkaline trio isn't as popular as those other bands.

Vincent Avatar ftw!
I saw them in November, and they were ****ing awesome. Matt tore his vocal chords, so Dan sang the entire set, which was great, cause I prefer Dan's voice to Matts anyway. It was awesome.

tbh i prefer matts voice, but they both have great voices and they go so great together

yeah, their voices really compliment each other a lot...and i too prefer matt's voice over dan's...i know there's been discussion of this a while ago in here, but i think derek really should have a full song with him on lead vocals, even if it has to be acoustic...or i even think it'd be cool if he played guitar and skiba played drums for a song...just cause it'd be something they usually don't do

He sang all of Matt's songs.

Yeah, and they definately did. I have it on video from my cameraphone. They had a second guitarist come out to play the lead as well since Matt forgot how.

I think Dan's voice has a nicer tone to it though Matt's voice is better for the Punkier stuff.

exactly. Matt's voice is more scruffy (but in a good way) and punky, which i like better. But Dan has a nicer voice. I love songs that they sing a line each such as Back To hell, theyve voices are great together!

its just a result of years of smoking, heavy smoking or not i dont know

chain smoking. i think he quit smoking though. i know the whole band quit drinking.

Matt didn't completely quit drinking.
At one show, he said that he quit drinking and that he wasn't supposed to have anything. But a guy bought him a beer. And he drank it.
