my band wants to cover a flogging molly song probaly drunken lullibies or seven deadly sins but we our friend who plays the violin sux but we want him to help us play were can i get some voilin tabs or sheet music of them

i dont think violin tabs exist. theyd be pretty pointless. If your violinist cant learn stuff by ear i suggest you find someone else.

actually, violin tabs DO exist. I should know. I've been playing eight years and have supplied tons of people with flogging molly tabs. As it turns out, the first time i heard drunken lullabies, i was like " wow this is easy. I tabbed it out then and there (the verses do need some work, but they're just playing harmony or w/ever sounds good. I just finished tabbing out 7 deadly sins, then read your post. I'll collect my notes and send the tabs 2 u as soon as i can. how long has ur violinist been playing? the songs aren't hard, but theres some tricky fingering and may require 3rd and fifth position shifts to stay off e string, which makes the songs sound whiny if you don't hit it right.

This is the violin part to Drunken Lullabies (as best i can figure): Note: The numbers refer to what octave the note is on ( actually, how many times the note has occurred, so the second E on the violin, which is the open E string, is E2, and the first E, the first finger on D string, is E1)

The intro- coming in after the banjo; is as follows: G2 B2 D2 D2 D2 E3 D2 B2/ G3 F#2 E2 D2 D2 E2 D B/ G2 B2 D2 D2 D2 E3 D2 B2 Cflat2 B2 A2 A2 B2 A2/ G2 B2 D2 D2 D2 E2 D2 B2 G2 F# 2 E2 D2 D2 E2 D2 B2/ G2 B2 D2 Cflat2 B2 A2 B2 A2 D2 D2 A2 D2.

Solo: in the middle: (you play the intro then go into solo) G3 G3 F2 E2, D2 E2 D2 E2 D2 B2 D2/ G3 G3 F2 E2 G3 A3/ D2 F2 G3 G3 F2 E2 D2 E2 D2 B2/ G2 B2 D2 B2 A2 D3. G3!

For the verses, you play simple harmony parts. If i can find the piece of paper i wrote those parts on, i'll post them

You'll see from my number of posts (This will be No. 1) that I'm new to the forum. I and quite a few other people I know are looking for sheet music for Flogging Molly Tunes.

i know of an easier way to tab violin music.

the string it's on, then position.

like

g=g
a=g1
b=g2
c=g3
d=d
e=d1
f=d2
f#=d2#

etc. it works pretty good.
