Why would it be scratchy and not insulating? It's Ramones leather jacket, not Wilson's Leather leather jacket, so it's pretty insulating, and the studs are only through those collar flaps and shoulders, not the actual body of the coat.

I think I'm just going to trade it to this stoner punk rock kid I know for a four-track recorder anyway. I'll leave the studs in as incentive.

That's a great plan. And then when you're done with that, you can trade it for an 8-track and a first-print DK vinyl.

I give hugs too.

Passing a joint around a room is almost like a hug to everyone in the room.

Oh, I remembered something re fur:

If a coat has trimming on it (like those trendy puffy winter coats all the chavs seem to wear), that's usually cat and/or dog hair, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Passing a joint around a room is almost like a hug to everyone in the room.

Not quite.

Passing a joint to your friends is the act of handing a 'joint,' which is a rolled marijuana cigarette, from one person to another for the purposes of smoking it to achieve an intoxicated state.

Giving a hug is reaching around a person with both arms and embracing them.

Giving a hug is reaching around a person with both arms and embracing them.

Not quite.

Hugging is the act of giving a "hug", which is a combination of the 1st party shifting body weight, moving arms to partially encompass the 2nd party, gripping the 2nd party non-threateningly and placing the 1st party's head cheek-to-cheek with the cheek of the party of the 2nd.

What this symbolizes is an exchange of greeting, a show of love, solidarity, thanks, appreciation, etc.

When I pass somebody a joint, it symbolizes my willingness to share with them something I find enjoyable, and so shows my enthusiasm for making sure they have a good time, thereby imparting a measure of love to them, not unlike giving a hug.

Lol. My street recently got a sign, I wanna do something about it. Like, maybe a real nice looking sign that says Spy On Your Neighbours with the little Neighbourhood Watch logo.

"curtains are twitching, voices are talking, neighbourhood watch is growing in strength, straining to peer over your patio, drilling a hole in the garden fence, meeting up weekly, decrying discretely, planning a way to expose and defeat you, send you to chokey for meat and two veg, all for the crime of walking the edge, here on the tightrope there's only a slight hope, hot towels and white soap can wash us all clean, you can't teach an old dog to fit like a new cog, into the innards of this great machine, let us die proudly and sing our songs loudly, cursing the traitors, the turncoats and lies, the world of the future it simply won't suit ya, they're planning to shoot ya for too many "why's", caps are not fitting, tongues are a-splitting, neighbourhood watch is growing in size, dredging your pond and unearthing your patio, watching the neighbours, instead of the skies, grasping at rumours, cancerous tumours, checking your dress, and depraved sense of humour, send you to chokey for meat and two veg, all for the crime of walking the edge, watch! there goes the neighbourhood!"
-p.a.i.n - neighbourhood watch

that sounds like an awesome plan Eran. Hope you're going to the zine symp benefit at stokey on the 24th by the way, i should be there!

I recently made 57 patches that say "I heart patch" on them. I think you shoud all buy the new issue of Click zine from dead trees and dye distro (http://www.deadtreesanddye.com) to get a patch.

Tomorrow I'm gonna try to make a new breed of patch out of sticky back plastic and felt. I'll keep you updated on progress.

Woohoo punk forum! I made my first stencil print, ain't it beautiful? (that's the band I'm in, no comment on the band name). Did as said on stencilpunks, except I ironed for too short a time and designed the damn thing sloppily. Ah, whatever it was just a test, next will be better.

Yeah, it's much different. It's basically drawing over it with the pen tool, which I have now learned to use properly.

you could easily do the same thing by printing an image off of the computer and coloring over it with marker (which is what my friend does, and she makes some excellent stencils. She got the stenciling idea from me and now just totally pwns me at it)

I just finished cutting it, and it looks pretty sweet. Hopefully it wont be ruined after one use.

I know a guy who makes some of his more complicated stencils by having a pad of tracing paper and just tracing the lines of the picture over and over again and tweaking it and retracing it until he has it just right.

Which is stupid since he screenprints and does no streetart anyway.

If your gonna do it, just eat smart. Being a veggie doesn't mean just eating vegetables. Make sure you eats lots of nuts, and things like quarn are good as well. Choosing to be a veggie is like taking on a new diet, you just have to watch what you eat. Make sure you get a balanced diet (like I say, nuts are good for protein).

And obviously the most important thing to remember is that all people who eat meat are worth less than you. No matter what they say or do, you should always look down on them. Give them a hard time about eating animals and stuff... its the only way they learn. :p

I'm not sure how DIY this is but I figured you guys would be most knowledgable. I wanna go back to vegetarianism but last time I got sick and lost too much weight and muscle mass.

What I found hard about turning vegan or vegetarian is the lack of flavour or addictive substances (like you get in cheese) which are really fulfilling if you'll eat anything. After a week or two you come off those addictive chemicals and also become more sensitive to flavours, or begin to appreciate what before seemed dull flavours. So for the first month or so I'd say make sure you include as many varied food types in your diet as you can, like someone said eat nuts, and broccolli (alternatively for the broccolli, take vitamin B12 supplement), curries are very good for a combined source of nutrition, and salads of course. Try not to eat in order to feel full, but to get nutrition. Don't rely on chips or junk food, those should be snacks not meals. Also eat citrus fruit for vitamin C to stop from being ill, and nuts and seeds are great source of energy if you get tired a lot.

Easiest solution: don't do it. One person doesn't make a difference.

How hardcore do you want to be?
I decided last month to go pesco-vegitarian/weekend omnivore: The only meat I eat is fish, and I didn't give up dairy and eggs and all that during the week, and I *might* partake in a little meat during the weekend, but that rarely ever happens anyway.

But make sure you take advantage of tofu either way. Like hardcore. When I started, I didn't eat enough shrimp/tofu and had a massive protien freak-out, even though I was eating like 1/2 of those huge jars of peanuts a day.

Now my parents keep the fridge FULL of this "tofu-to-go" stuff as well as plain tofu, so I can have a small triangle as a snack and throw some of the unflavored stuff into some pasta. Seriously, it's got it's own shelf [my parents are temporarily vegitarian as well].

You don't even have to cut a stencil out. If you get some acetate and photocopy the pic you want onto it in black and white, then you do some exposing-y thing with some bright light, and you can print out anything, no cutting out involved, which means you get cool stuff that's full of "islands". Jonni knows the process properly.

yer true, i've seen that done at school alot, but i dont feel confident enough to try it myself and i don't think that i can do the light thing at home. I'm going to try it for my next art project and then I should be able to do it for tee shirts which will be cool

I'm intersted in doing this instead of cutting stencils out, that way I can do more complicated ones. What is acetate and where do you get it?, and can someone explain or find a website with instructions to do the exposing thing?

Here is some stuff i've done recently with stencils and acrylic paint. They're all patches, apart from the red one which is a t-shirt.

The first one one didn't come out too well, because my cat jumped on it when it was drying and ****ed it up.

AIRIC
04-11-2007, 09:04 PM
A shoebox that is sealed so it's completely dark. You put a tiny pinhole in the side of the box and cover it with tape. Take the tape off for maybe 30 seconds so a little light filters in and hits the photo paper on the inside. Then you cover the hole back up and develop the paper.

Okay i need some help, i got a silk screening kit but i have NO idea how to turn an image into a workable one for a t-shirt. People always say how silk screening allows for complicated designs to be inked on but so far it seems that i can get the same results with a paper stencil, sponge and fabric paint. I wanna turn this image (black and white though) onto a t-shirt. Can someone plllleeease explain how to do this? Thanks.

Google it, that's how I learnt to do it.

But to make that picture black and white, open it with MS paint, and save it as a Monochrome Bitmap image.

or open it with Photoshop (if you have it), then click image, click adjustments, then click de-saturate. then fiddle with the brightness/contrast (which is in the same list as de-saturate)

Hey, I can help you. I screen print myself and trust me, it allows for greater detail to be placed on shirts, patches, and such.

Assuming you have Photoshop, go Image >adjustments > threshold and play around with the threshold bar level. If you do not have Photoshop I'm not really sure.

So, you're probably gonna want your image to look along the lines of this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v352/lynchme/mdcblackwhite.jpg

Play around with the image size depending on how big you'd like it to be.

You can use Filter->Cutout after thresholds, makes it look better.

There are a million ways to make better stencils though, Thresholds is just the tip of the iceberg.

Eran: what's the law like on flyposting/general putting up posters?
I like, need to put my band posters up around town, but it seems self-defeating if it has our band name/website/gigs we're playing on it, because to prosecute us wouldn't even require the blue turning up when we're posting =/

reckon they're less likely to give a **** if you flypost where there are lots of other fly-postings?

This is a good one that helped me out. http://nomediakings.org/doityourself/howto_silkscreen_posters_and_shirts.html

You may have to go out any buy a few simple items if you don't already have them. This should include:

- Your kit (I assume this comes with the screen, photo emulsion bottle, photo emulsion remover, squeegee) Make sure the photo emulsion gets refrigerated too.
- any color of fabric ink
- 150 watt light bulb
- over head lamp that can handle the 150 lightbulb
- "overhead" paper (transparent paper) to print your black and white image onto

At the very least this is what you need. Some manuals and tutorials go into great lengths of possible materials. However, I just do it with the materials mentions above, and the results are the same for me. If you find that tutorial confusing or have questions just ask here and I'll try to explain as best as I can. I had a lot of questions when I started this too. It's not as overwhelming as it may seem.

I guess so. Just ask him how long you should should leave it under the light for. I know with 150w it only needs to be under for an hour, so I would imagine a 500w would be a lot less.
