Well, they were bought before Nike had bought out converse.
WHEN WAS THAT?!?
My grandma gave me a pair of converse shoes (they hurt like a mofo, no arch support) that didn't fit my uncle. I might cover them with anti-Nike signs now. Yeah, like, when I get off my lazy arse and so some DIY, it's been about 4 or 5 months since I last made anything!

Michigan has chucks for $20, thats insane. Either way i dont like them. i would rather get PFflyers (new balence). also those blackspotshoes look really sweet.

I don't know, but I know they're made in China. I was dissapointed in that when I got a pair of checkerboards a while ago. I have enough problems wearing something name brand and trendy; it's even worse that they're most certainly made in sweatshops.
A bit ago I made a Critical Mass shirt. I think it turned out pretty sweet. It's on the back, too, so people can actually see it while I'm riding:

I also remade that *** stencil today. Turned out much better:

It rained all day today, so I took the time to create some back-to-school fashions and sewed some patches on my bag:

I've made it so my shoes can last even longer than they already have past their life expectancy.
Does anyone have the problem where the bottom part of their shoe can completely separate from their shoe like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/asdf23/crappyshoes1.jpg
Because if that's ever the case, gorilla glue is your best bet. It really worked great for me. I had tried using a hot glue gun a few times before, but that doesn't work at all.
Then I started sewing up the big holes in the sides:

I've never worn spandex and I don't have a nice bike, but it is my main mode of transportation. I try not to get in the way, but I do assert my right to the road if I need to. If there's no room to the right or there's a turn lane on red, I merge to the middle. I make left turns too. But I don't cut off drivers (unless I'm being forced off by some jerk) -- though lots of people are nice and give me right of way regardless, which always makes my day.
Bikes are traffic, and should be treated no better nor worse than cars. So, yeah, I might be one of those bastards. I wouldn't say I'm stuck up though.
This country would be a better place if more people biked.
EDIT: Though I suppose critical mass is an exception to my above thoughts. we're assholes there, and I'm sure it does nothing but piss people off. But it's fun and uniting.

Biking can only take you so far. At some point you need a car. Unless you live in a city in which case you can use public transportation.
That's sort of what I said in the spring when I bought a new bike. But I've gone all summer with hardly using a car, and it's been a very rewarding experience. Unless I'm going somewhere with my family, I average one or two car rides a week -- and most of those I could probably avoid. Now I'm telling people I'm not going to get my driver's license.
But the real test comes this winter. Not looking forward to that too much. :\
I have a bike which I use if I'm going to the shops or library - about 6 miles return.
If I'm going anywhere else I get a lift, walk, or take the bus to the tube station (same distance, about 2 miles away), and get the tube up to town.
London is fantastic, I have no need for a car, screw all you guys paying £3000/year just for insurance.

Me too. I would ride into central London on my bike if I thought I could handle Highgate Hill and Holloway Road, but I don't think my leg muscles are strong enough for X miles of uphill riding.

I'm in a good spot right now, being in a large university and all. I walk/bike where I need to go, as everything is a mile within campus. The few trips I take out of town I'm able to use the town metro bus system. I've enjoyed it quite a bit, thus far, I think I might try it when I'm back home.

Man, I just go from Stirling corner to High Barnet, lol.
I've walked Archway - Soho a few times though, its decent exercise, but Highgate Hill, are you joking?
Also even if I could cycle the 15 miles to Charing Cross I wouldn't, because I'd be too drunk to cycle home.
Hence why I take public transport everywhere.

You should, it's awesome. I don't know if you guys have a night bus system in cities in the States, but here in London, I can get from Oval to Finchley on two night buses (that's South London to North London, a big ****en hike). Plus, you meet some pretty cool people on the Tube/bus.

I'm pretty sure the local transit here goes from like... the station to a grocery store or something. I don't think we have it like you guys.
For all the **** TFL gets, we actually have the best public transport system in the world.
The tube is the best underground network (wipes the floor with the ones in Rome, Paris and New York), and I'm sure our buses are pretty much second to none in the variety and overall regularity.

Maybe if you live in the 'burbs. But if you live in the city then obviously public tranportation is more heavily used.
On another note, I recently purchased a black zip-up hoodie with which I plan to put patches on. I've already made a few patches. I'll post pics when I'm all done with it.

You expect 50 riders to all use the sidewalk? Or all stick to the bike lane?
The sidewalk is for pedestrians, you know, for people to walk on. The road is for vehicles. And in most places around the world bikes are considered vehicles.
I stick to the road as much as I can.

used brushes like this (although maybe a bit more circular, stiffer, etc etc) and just dabbed straight down until the entire surface was covered. Rollers might be easier to get an entire surface quicker, but these brushes are nice when you're trying to get a nice cut against the stencil (which in my case was contact paper).

what did you use as the actual stencil material?
If you use contact paper (the lining many people put on kitchen shelves, and stuff--it has a sticky side), you shouldn't have that problem. :(
link of what it is for those that don't know - http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/37-188-contact-papers/clear-contact-paper-105240.aspx
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with it. Although, this kinda reminds me of another shirt I need to take a picture of (it's dirty, and in the hamper atm, os it will be later). I did the black flag logo on the left sleeve of a black shirt (white logo), and accidentally let the paint dry. When I tore it off, it ripped some of the paint off. I was pissed, but it gave the shirt an aged look, which I've got a lot of comments about. :)
about the neil young stencil-the result looks better than what I thought the cutout would provide. Good job. :)

I tried to make one of a picture of them, it came out pretty nice, except that Jamie (I think is his name) was wearing a hoodie and cut out, it looks like a diving helmet (as The-UK-Ska-Scene kindly pointed out). You made the hood thinner by whiting out the outside of it right? Well, what if we made his face bigger? Like, doing the same thing you did, but from the inside, so that the hood stays the same circumference.
Like this, maybe: http://i8.tinypic.com/471ym90.gif

How much money did you spend on tie-dye materials?
I hope all this money is going towards perpetuating your art, instead of something silly, like buying an iPod.

I save my money. Never something silly like an ipod. The silliest thing I considered buying was a moped, which would likely be the most advanced form of transportation I ever purchase.
The materials weren't all that expensive, I guess. We've had the dye for a couple of years now, and we have some of it given to us. We often use used clothing items, or buy discounted clothes to dye. We're thrifty. And our thriftyness allows me to sell my clothes at a fairly cheap price.

Spray painting white onto a black shirt is just gonna bleed like all hell. Don't bother. Just stick with the black on white.

Here's a couple pictures of one of the wallets I've made myself. I made this one out of pennies, I've made 2 out of Pokemon cards, one out of Monopoly money, and one out of counterfeit money. This is the only one I've taken pictures of, and was the second wallet I made.
It's a bit sketchy, since it was the first time I had used something that wasn't paper, and the thickness made quite a difference.

It was a little heavy, but nothing more than a wallet with change in it anyways. I don't use this one nowadays, due to me being poor enough to need to use change, and the lack of a change pocket doesn't help.
This was fun taking through the airport security when I worked there, always got some weird looks from security guards when they scanned it.

Thanks for the comments on the wallet, guys. Would anyone want me to write up a guide on how I do it? It only takes about half an hour, 45 minutes if you're going to get al the creases out, assuming you've got decent packing tape.
I have a question: Does anyone know if the freezer paper stencils (from the link on the first page) are re-usable? I'm guessing they are, but I've never physically felt freezer paper, so I don't know. Can you iron it onto a shirt more than once? I'm only looking to do one-color shirts right now, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

there reusable to an extent. after the first go though they be EXTREAMLY weak esp if theres a lot of "peninsulas" or thin areas. im not sure about the ironing on more then once, ive think ive done it once. and it doesnt work as great. if its one color then you should be fine.
If your only going to make a shirt once then i would go with freezer paper. if you want to reuse it, then go with something sturdier.

Eh, freezer paper doesn't work that great with multiple applications. I've been able to get a couple applications out of one sheet, but it's better to go a different route with multiples. The stuff is flimsy, and most of the plastic is gone after the first time through.
One thing you could do is get something sturdier (overhead transparency or manilla folder) and adhere to the shirt temporarily with spray-tac. You can do that over and over.

I was (optimistically) planning on doing loads of different designs for the shirts using weird fonts and pictures of pandas, but I may just have a few different stencil of the band name in different fonts and then a few stencils of cool pictures then mix & match them for all the shirts. Shouldn't be too much trouble with cheap t-shirts and tons of acrylic paint.

I was (optimistically) planning on doing loads of different designs for the shirts using weird fonts and pictures of pandas, but I may just have a few different stencil of the band name in different fonts and then a few stencils of cool pictures then mix & match them for all the shirts. Shouldn't be too much trouble with cheap t-shirts and tons of acrylic paint.
suonds cool, post some pics on here when your done maybe?
i have to go out and buy a roller and some acrylic paint so i can make some cool lookin t shirts too :thumb:
I got some green spray paint from a friend's house, and although it's not exactly the color I needed, it is what I needed for my snakefinger stencil.:

It's not great, but it's better than my first try.
Here's how the wall looks. my friend went a little crazy with the green paint. I'm pretty soon going to paint over all of it, as most of it is just testing.

snakefinger is this guy that is associated with the band the residents and other ralph records things, but he also did his own solo stuff. He was pretty sweet, and I thought that that picture of him on his album cover would make a good stencil.
And the minor threat thing is partially a stencil. The red is a stencil, but I hand colored in the black.

So is The Art of Rory on your wall in your room? If so, then did your parents just let you spray paint stencils there? Because that'd be pretty cool.

My room is actually on the other side of that wall. That wall is just another wall in my basement, sort of in the computer area. And yeah, my parents said that it's totally fine. My dad paints houses for a living, so he can direct me in what paints to use and such, as well.

ask the guitar section, they answer of questions like that. i think the paint ussally chips off after a while sot the best way would be clear tape.

been asked before, I'm sure. but I really don't feel like going through three hundred sixty pages.
so.. for six inch hair, with a mohawk about two inches wide, do you think that rubber cement [for hair] would work? or something home made would be cool too. I don't want to have to use like 50 different things to keep it up.
thanks guys.

I'm pretty sure in this guess, but on teh of the OG MX posters had a larger mohawk, and she said she uses hairspray.
Granted it's not any kind of hairspray, but try over the counter stuff first man.
Don't just get on the internet and ask people if it's okay to use cement to put your mohawk up. You don't know what that could do to your scalp.

my freind had one and used this model glue stuff. even though his was pretty crappy, so...
Also ive asked my parents if i could put up some spare dry wall behind my drum set so i could spray my stencils up there. Ive never sprayed walls so whats some tips to get an even spray that wont run? I don’t want this to be a wall for just random crap, so the best spray would be great.

cover a large area around the stencil as to eliminate overspray and spray from far away so it wont bleed. thats what i would do.

You can draw, or you can print, depending on how confident you are in your freehanding. I've drawn a couple, but usually I print them out, or make them on Photoshop and then print them out. Printing also gives you more contrast, and Photoshop lets you edit it much more quickly and easily than it would to do it by hand. At the end of the day, it's up to you, and what you're most comfortable with.:thumb:

Although it is occasionally fun to wear things just to get looks from people. I dressed up as magenta from rocky horror and went to a school football game. May sound stupid, but it was fun. (bare in mind, there was a reason. I was going to the rocky horror picture show in theaters right after)

Shaving balls is really simple once you get into the swing of it.
Use a razor, not an electric shaver and its all good.
What I mean about trimming - use hair clippers or scissors to get it pretty short, like 1/4", and then shave the rest in with and electric shaver.

I did a test run (no pics!) and there's some unpleasant red spots where the hairs that were shaved off used to be, and no amount of vaseline body lotion is making them go away. I'll stick to shaving my legs.
Out of interest, does anybody know how to shave balls? Would you have to stretch them out a bit or what? Because I'd be way scared of running a razor over wrinkly skin, particularly where my genitals are involved.

It's not too hard shaving balls, if you kinda pull the skin tight to get the creases out and then just shave them, do it gently though for f'ucks sake. I nicked myself the other day.... absolute blood bath, but not really :naughty:
