Lots of sleep and drinking plenty of fluids, especially those rich in Vitamin C, like orange juice. That works for me because I avoid all cold meds except NyQuil (only because it helps me sleep, therefore helping me heal)

Lots and lots and lots of water, sleep, and at least 1000mg of Vitamin C everyday. It says don't go over 1000mg but overdosing on a Vitamin would just be weak.

Mix up a quad shot of good quality dry sherry, add 1 heaped teaspoon of ginger, 1 of garlic and one of cayenne pepper. Sherry soothes the voice and is nice on a sore throat, the ginger settles the stomach and cleans the blood. Garlic is a pretty powerful germ-killer, and also cleans out the old system. And cayenne pepper blows cold germs away man, raises the internal temperature, clears the sinus, all sorts of handy things.

Nah can't say I have, do enlighten me?
It's about a scientist that discovers a chemical that gives immortality (well, it zombifies) but he knows that usually chemicals like that turn the subject into a brain-eating zombie, he tweaked his formula so that instead of craving brains, the subject craves sex. Then he injects it into the corpse of a woman and they start humping. There's a really funny bit when he's eating her out and there's blood spurting out of her phagina and the camera is behind him, and then he turns around, gives a thumbs up to the camera and goes "Yeah!" It's so funny/disgusting. I won't ruin it for you, you can probably download it of kazaa or eMule. It's not jerk-worthy, unless you are into corpse makeup (the woman was all grey and mouldy) and lots of fake blood, but it is very giggletastic.

Oh sweet, I am totally going to rape my band's minds with that one. I gave them all a horror indoctrination, because they want to start doing some of the horror-psychobilly like The Nekromantix. So I kinda gradually worked them up from Frankenstien and Dracula, through Dawn Of The Dead, and finally into Bloodsucking Freaks. That movie makes you feel like you've been raped at the end of it, like "Day Of The Woman". Great stuff.

Shaving foam makes awesome graffitti, if you light it up, it leaves behind a thick, totally unremoveable carbon crust. Me and my mates used to go around making @'s (like anarchy) out of it, because we were 14 and thought it was troo punx.

Sounds like a good idea. When I find some worthy posters/art that need putting up, I will be making this wheat paste. Look at the second site I posted, it's really cool. They put up memorials in the street for every cyclist that gets killed by traffic.

I was looking at my backpack today and I've had the thing for years and it's in great shape, but the front has writing all over it from like 10th and 11th grade and it's kind of fading and most of it is just random band names, a lot I don't like anymore. So I'm thinking of painting over it all with some black paint then stenciling something else on. It'll be a good DIY project since I haven't done any for awhile.

Hahaha, I remember doing that. Me and my friends only ever had the balls to do it in alley-ways and stuff like that though, so it was really lame. But hell, we thought we were so hardcore.
Can't beat wheat paste, either. 'Though my brother did make the mistake of telling my parents that it was a brilliant alternative to wallpaper paste a few years ago, so now they're stuck trying to get it to come off the walls. As long as they don't remember why, then it's all ok.

heh, sure man. The claws might be tricky, so you might want to freehand that part. I accidently clicked back there and made the stencil before I noticed how old it was, but I'm glad you still have a use for it.
Point one: Walking home today I found this awesome bike. It's a classic banana seat bike! Just what I've always wanted. It's not in the best of shape (no pedals, flat tires...) but I'm still planning on getting it for my tall bike project.
Point two: today I went to a school GSA meeting at school, and they were talking about designing shirts for the day of silence. Basically, we're going to make our own, and we decided that stenciling would be a great way to go. We're all trying to think up designs, and I was wondering if any of you had any good stencilable designs representing the day of silence?

Day of silence, eh? That really does sound intruiging. I guess you could have a picture of something that represents noise or even unrest ( such as someone shouting with lines coming out of their mouths to show sound or something) inside a circle that has a line through it, like a street sign or something and then with a slogan underneath. Or even a picture or someone smiling or looking happy with their mouths closed that could represent silence with a slogan underneath?

I have two suggestions:
For the design, how about "Better A Wise Mute Than A Loud Fool" as the slogan fior Lukeh's idea.
For the method, I suggest investing in a silk-screen and screen-printing it. It is much faster and cheaper to do big loads of shirts if you screen-print, and it also looks more professional and has a better quality.

Everyone at the meeting was pretty excited about the stencil idea. I mean the last two years they were hand-drawn shirts (same with national coming out day) so this would be a step up.
I tried copying the logo for this year, but it just doesn't look right.
So far I've created this:

The only problem with that is it would have to be on a white shirt, while we wanted to print white on black shirts.

That's pretty cool, but it could look so much cooler with more details. Seriously, you only have to make one screen and you can use it over and over hundreds and hundreds of times. It means you can put so much detail in. My screen-printing friend made this:
http://www.openspace32.de/noid/pics/hkmp7-1.jpg
He's also made pictures of local squats, along with every single window and line on the building:
http://www.openspace32.de/noid/pics/screenprint_gelb.jpg
That's the squat where we make the prints. There's a print of that squat but without the text. Seriously, it's worth screen-printing.
Why can't you have black shirts?

Our budget just can't affort screen printing, although I just might invest in it someday.
And we could use black shirts, just not really with that design I drew just now, because it needs a white background. I guess a white background could be painted first, but I tried that befure and it was... unsuccessful.

It's so ****ing stupid. I recognize it as a demonstration of solidarity, but it's symbolism is crap. To create an equal environment for LGBTs we need to shut up for a day? It's a good sign of solidarity with the LGBT community, but having a National Day Of Beating Up Homophobes would be much more practical. Just kidding, but there could be much more done than just keeping quiet for a day. How about a demonstration outside an openly homophobic institution? Or walking around in drag? Handing out informational fliers about homosexuality (for the homophobes) or how to deal with homophobes (for the LGBTs)? Sorry if insulted you...:)

Well, the description on the site was pretty bad. the GSA does a bunch more for the LGBT community, and the day of silence is just part of it. It's more to represent gays who have to remain silent because of what they'll face if they come out, or if they have what they have faced because of it. It's a sign of respect for people who have faced danger for what they are. It's just something that shows we care about it.
And I agree, there's much more that can be done. Kind of why I don't go to GSA meetings very often. For one, the school I go to isn't all that homophobic, so our GSA really doesn't do anything. If there was a reason for it, I would be at every meeting.

It's more like the politically correct club rather than the Gay-Straight Alliance.
I feel the same way. Which is why I'm not all that involved in it. This was the first meeting I went to this school year, and that's because some friends of mine run it, and saw me walking by the classroom afterschool.

Holding meetings in the school =/= high school club.
I'm talking clubs that were organized by students who then had to find an advisor, then get permission from the school to form their club and hold meetings. They also have to clear everything they do with the school administration.

I've never seen a high school club even accomplsh that. The ones that try to be political (like the GSA) just attract people who are already aware of the issue, and things like the day of silence really only bring more negative attitudes towards the group and sympathizers

Well I had never heard of the GSA, LGBT, or the Day of Silence before now, and now I know, so that's raising awareness right there.
Technically, it's not a school club doing it, but it's kind of the same.

This wasn't a political statement, this was a "you fuc'k with my friends you f'uck with me" statement. However, I do agree with Eran, violence is an essential tool in social change. Hippies forget this, and terrorists forget the other tools, and the violence has to be 1. Perfectly targetted and 2. The last resort.

Don't turn to the dark side, man. I'm sure you know very well that there are other ways to stop the violent/exploitative actions of the G8 without killing anyone, it's just that everyone's way too alienated(sp?) and lazy to do that though and violence will just alienate people's views of everything even more. We know it's not right by any means, but as you've said yourself, these things take time. Not even Utilarianism supports "violence to reduce violence overall".
Anyway, on a more DIY note, I made a Radiohead t-shirt and my friends made me a cool book about me for my birthday in the style of a 'zine I like to read. Pics will be posted as soon as I dig out my camera.

This wasn't a political statement, this was a "you fuc'k with my friends you f'uck with me" statement.
No offence to you particularly, but I hate when people say things like this. There's no difference between politics and real life. If what you believe in and what you do are separate things, it's not called politics. It's called hypocrisy.
I'm anti-violent by the way. Sure, an act of violence could decrease the amount of violence in the world, but there are still better ways.

That IS a political statement, just as much as a neo-nazi beating up Jews is a political statement. There's nothing in the world that doesn't have something to do with politics, as long as humans are involved.

When they're raw they taste like the smell of cat's piss. Some taste worse than others, but they also have a really nutty tasty backdrop, not enough to overpower the catpiss taste though. If you boil them in milk, a glass or two will have the same effects but taste nice, sweet and nutty.
I don't think so. I hear they taste AWFUL.
Yeah, I heard that too, but people also look at me in horror when I eat raw regular mushrooms, so I don't know.
Mushrooms are the only drug that's really intrigued me, where I might actually try it. Also that drug that is the same chemical that produces dreams (I really can't remember it, and it's making me mad. I know it kills sheep instantly, and that it's the dream chemical, but I forgot the name)

Salvia lasts for about five minutes, so if you cover up the smell with incence or deodorant you could get away with it easy. The rest you need them out of the house (except you could smoke weed or take acid with your friends when you're off camping or in a wood for the day).
I just made another free-hand of my left hand pointing like a gun with the words "Back 2 Sleep". It doesn't look that good yet, but I just have to work on the lettering. I have to go to a squat meeting now, but I'll post pics later.

Well, on my mom's side there's a slight history of mental illness, but nothing major.
Still, I don't see myself doing drugs anytime soon.
Even when I'm at Bonnaroo this summer, it's not going to happen. I know someone who OD'd at a bonnaroo, so my parents would be pissed more than any pissed I've ever known if I got caught. Plus I like being in a sober state when viewing concerts.

Salvia sounds crazy and as far as I know, it's legal since you can get it online. 'Shrooms I can get from a lot of people around here. That and acid I'd only do in a controlled enviornment, like a friend's house or something, where there's zero risk of getting caught.

My family own's a stand up. It cost us about 100-200 dollars. One day a friend of ours looked on his front porch, and there was this upright bass just... there. He lives in a really tiny house, so he couldn't keep it there, so he dropped it off at our house, and soon after said we could have it. It was pretty damaged (back falling off, new bridge needed...) so we got it repaired.
It's a pretty kickass thing to just find.

is there a diffrence between painting on real leather and the fake stuff, im tryin my first DIY thing so im tryin blitzkrieg bop on a wallet of mine. its the easyest thing i can think of. also i cant remember wot paint to use, i think it was acrylic and something else but i cant remeber it if there were any other parts. thanks
I'm not sure if there's a difference. DON'T use acrylic paint it'll last like 2 days and then start to crack and fall off, faster if it's thicker. Sharpie oil-based paint markers work decently, but it's hard to get a solid white coat since the pen lifts up the other layers of paint when it goes along. What I found works best is an airbush paint. I have this 'createx' airbrush paint from a craft store and it's not fallen off so far.

Wha! I am extremely jealous! I wish an upright bass would be on my porch one day when I came home!

I could use some help with a DIY birthday project. I saw a magnetic poetry thing, but when I went to go buy it, it was gone, so I figured I'd try my hand at making one. I would really appreciate any help with design, materials (doesn't have to be magnet but must accomplish the ease of making 'poetry' etc etc), etc. I was gonna print out a bunch of words that would go with the subject and cut them out with a straight razour, but I have no base, I.E. a place for them to stick to in order to make the poetry.

You can buy a strip of magnet which is sticky on one side at most craft stores, and when you print out the words, just stick them on the the magnets. But make sure to put them under something heavy for a bit to flatten them, since the magnet strips usually come coiled. I don't know how much they are, not very expensive I don't think.

Back in the day, my friends and I would cut up things (like... magic cards) and go up to domino's and ask for free magnets. We would peel off the ad, or just glue over it (glueing over it is easier).
Then again, we were little kids so they put up with us. As someone much older asking for free magnets, I'm not sure if it'll work. Worth a try though.
Although I guess the craft store magnet strip would be better.

So in my speech class, our next assignment is an informative speech. The teacher said that you can do a "how-to" speech, and I'm kind of leaning that way, and thinking of teaching some DIY stuff. If not that, I'll inform people about Wheatland Music Festival.
So I thought maybe how to tie-dye. But... eh.
And I thought maybe stenciling for the purpose of shirt design (preaching graffiti in class could get me a low grade).
I need visual aids, which would be very easy with the stenciling or tie-dying, and I think I could also drag one or both of those on for 5-7 minutes, which is how long the speech has to be. But will highschool kids (11 freshman, 11 seniors), really care? I guess that doesn't matter.
So any advice? think I can pull of showing how to make stencils in front of a bunch of my school peers? Just stick to informing people about the hippie fest I go to? I have to know for sure what I'm doing by monday.

I found that the best thing is to not plan it all out to much and to just talk about something that you know alot about and literally just keep rambling on untill your time is up because if you plan out a speech for 5-7 minutes it will take you ages and i dont think it will be worth it. this is just my opinion.

I think if you use visuals for stencils they would like, you'd at least garner some interest from the people who want to be 'unique' instead of always buying really expensive clothes. Tie dye will probably bore them though unless it's a class full of hippies.

You don't want to go completely ramble because you can get off topic really easily. The best thing to due is plan out the outline and elaborate as you go, like have basic ideas and then elaborate like you're having a conversation with the class.

You want to have some sort of outline at least, trust me. Last year I expected to breeze through my first speech in speech 100, because you were supposed to give a 5-7 minute speech about yourself. I figured that would be nothing, so I went up unprepared and gave a very poor 2 minute speech.

If you are good at improv, make an outline. If you can't improv, make a speech.
By outline, I mean list in chronological order what you want to cover.
Next, they'll appreciate it. Lots of people in school ask me if I do my own shirts, etc, and they all say it's real cool. I think people dig things like that if it looks alright.

Well I'm actually supposed to write an entire paper, but only work off of notes, only using something as a rephrance (like an outine).
Yeah, I think stenciling will be good. and if I can't find a way to drag it on for a long enough time, I will do stenciling/tie-dye.
