After. Like, the opposite side of them from the collar.

Here is an old patch I made, first one I did. It was for the band Triggerfish, which Adam Peebles (superskankinactionhero) is bassist for.

Use good quality shoe polish, make sure you are following the directions properly etc. You may have a leather on your boots that doesn't really shine that well, it's naturally dull. You could try adding a little water to the polish, that sometimes gives it a shine.

Has anyone ever tried iron-ons? Apparently you can just buy special paper for it and print it out from your computer so you could get an exact image of what you want onto a shirt. I have a feeling it wouldn't look as good as a stencil and it might start to wear off but it'd be a h.ell of a lot easier.

okay since i dont feel like looking through pages and pages of posts so to the guy who was asking how to get that super fuzzy tone the guy from reagan youth gets on his i do it like this:
take a bass amp and a distortion pedal, and run you guitar through it. crank the tone and distortion on the pedal and then on your amp crank the midrange and treble all the way and turn bass down to zero. use your neckup and "BAM!" reagan youth just like that!

Yeah, auto paint works well if you sand the original finish and spray lots of light coats. I wouldn't reccomend refinishing a really valuable bass, but if it's a cheapo or something it will turn out good.

i dont know if this has been mentioned yet, but to keep silk screened patches from fraying leave a bit of extra fabric when you're cutting it and once you're done the patch fold the edges over while sewing. Ive done this with all my patches and none of them are fraying

This may seem like a stupid question, but how the hell do people put studs on? I mean, it seems like it'd take quite awhile. Personally, I've never delt with them, so it'd e helpful if someone could answer my question.
there are prongs on the back of the studs people push through the material. then they bend the prongs down.
it takes a fairly long amount of time, but it can look good if done properly
Use plyers or tweezers when putting on studs. Getting the stug prong under your fingernail hurts like a bitch.

that's a seriously good shirt, except for the edge-of-the-stencil marks. but they're heavy or too distracting or anything. and the stencil design is really nice.
what works for those stencil marks, for future reference, is to lay down some newspaper over the rest of the shirt, over the places the stencil doesn't cover.

if you clean it first and then wash the thing once you've done it a couple times a day for the next couple days, it's not bad. ears (lobes, that is) are simple to pierce and don't really offer any problems as far as i know. cartiledge is a bit more of an issue, because you ideally want to use something that punches a hole out of the cartiledge (it can be done, but it's a bit of work to push through if you're squeemish, and it may get infected more easily).
