Out of any power metal band I can think of, these would be the guys that could get the mainstream crowd into power metal. These guys have the catchiest choruses I've ever really heard in Power metal music, while they keep it higher in the level of technicality. I purchased this cd for only $5.99, and I'm glad I did it.

Angel Dust is best described as: A loosely labeled power metal band. Power metal can range from many things, going from Blind Guardian and Rhapsody to Nevermore, which is quite the stretch. Angel Dust is definately more towards the Nevermore side of the genre, but still manages to have their own sound.

Track Reviews for Of Human Bondage

The Human Bondage - Starts off with an electronic intro, which leads into a really heavy, distorted riff. I've always liked this song, and the vocals are always great. Not one of my favorite, but still good. 3.5/5

Inhuman - I've always really liked the intro on this album. The keyboards add a nice effect. The chorus...amazingly catchy, and I just love it. This band is so melodic, and it really shows. Works extremely well too. Good song. 5/5

Unreal Soul - Bit of a different opening riff, but they pull it off when they overlayer the guitars. This is definately a different song, but I guess that's Angel Dust. Again, this song has an amazing chorus. The guitars, mixed with the singer's voice is amazing. 4/5

Disbeliever - Beautiful intro, with weird ambient, keyboard effects. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. If you want a beautiful, melodic song, listen to this. Definately one of the slower songs, but one of the best. The chorus, (again, typical Angel Dust) is both catchy, heavier, and beautiful. The keyboards help make parts of this song too. 5/5

Forever - Catchy intro with power chords, mixed in with keyboards. It actually sounds really good. Not a very complicated, technical song, but again, the keyboards change this song. This isn't really on of my favorites. Not too bad though. Good chorus though. ;) 3.5/5

Unite - Cool electronic intro. Maybe on the keyboards. Again, not a really complicated song, but at least it sounds really cool, right? ;) Great vocals though. And another amazing chorus. One of my favorites. That is why I like this band; it's their ability to write such amazing things. 5/5

Got This Evil - Not one of my favorite intros... Probably my least favorite song on the album. It just doesn't have the same feel as the other songs, and not even the chorus is as great as the others. :( Still manages to stay extremely melodic, with a decent solo at around 2:25. 2.5/5

The Cultman - Good intro. Sounds like an acoustic, with electric vibes (if that makes sense) The singer comes in, and I love his voice. He is a great vocalist. It gets heavy around 1:45, and is very melodic. (what a surprise) But overall, I really enjoy this song. 5/5

Freedom Awaits - another keyboard/electronic intro which is awesome. Not extremely original, but it still manages to pull you in. This song is a lot more typical power-metal based. It sounds different than the other songs on the album, actually... Chorus is still good though. Extremely catchy, just like every song on this album. Not bad though. 4/5

Killer Last song on the album. Seems more of a "happier" mooded song. I like it. Vocals = amazing. Guitars, bass, and drums are typical. Nothing special. The singer's voice in the chorus is electronically synthesized. Quite weird. Not one of the best songs. :-/ But still good. I won't deny that. 3.5/5

Final result: 41/50=4.1/5= 4/5

Whether you just download a few songs, or even purchase an album, you should check out this band to experience what I talk about in these guys' choruses. They are amazingly well written, and so melodic.

This Cd comes with a bonus Power Metal sampler with the following tracks

Iced Earth - Jack
Jag Panzer - Take to the Sky
Angel Dust - The Human Bondage
Onward - Eye of the Nightmare
Tad Morose - Nuclear Skies
Royal Hunt - The Mission
Sonata Arctica - Wolf and Raven
Nevermore - The River Dragon has Come
Warmen - Trip to...
Dream Evil - The Prophecy
Nocturnal Rites - Wake Up Dead
Andromeda - The Words Unspoken
Blind Guardian - Mirror, Mirror

Both the Angel Dust cd and the bonus disc are worth it, alone. But together, if you can find a low price, you are ready to go.

Thanks for taking the time to read this review.

Hah. The only reason I have the album... Scratch that. The only reason I know about the band is because it was only $5.99 at the store. And I only really bought it for the Power Metal sampler cd. :p I just got lucky.

And thanks.
