This bass kicks ***.

I had wanted a Flea Bass for 5 years. August 13th, my dreams finally came true. It had arrived, a brand spanking new flea bass. I was able to get mine spec'd out just like fleas too.

Specs:
- Blue Flake finish
- Basslines Pickup
- Aguliar OBP-1 preamp
- Badass II bridge

I know flea has a lane poor pickup on his, but they've been discontinued and I can't find one on ebay yet.

Sound & Playability

This bass sounds awesome. It totally rumbles. I use a Nemesis NC-210 combo amp, and for a combo amp, the bass rumbles the house. The perfectly straight graphite neck is EASY to play. It is pure euphoria playing this bass, every note rings perfectly.

Look & Craftmanship

The flake blue finish on this bass looks totally awesome. It is unlike anything you will ever see. Pictures don't do this bass justice. When using a flash when taking pictures of the bass, the bass just lights up with sparkles.

Also, this bass is the most sleek bass I've ever seen. It's almost aerodynamic looking. The craftmanship is incredible. The finish is so smooth I can almost see myself in it.

Overall

If you can afford this bass (about $2,200+), get one. I was lucky enough to get mine for only $1,999 (yep, not an even $2,000). You will never have to buy another bass, this will last you a lifetime. The graphite neck will never break or wear.

Buy a Flea Bass! :thumb:

I give it a 5/5

****. I think that bass would look awesome with a natural finish or maybe like a zebrawood top and no pickguard. If it had a zebrawood top and no pickguard, Itd be a dream

Sorry I haven't had a chance to reply. I was at basic training down at fort benning. Anyways I'm back.

To answer the question to the guy above me...I bought it from bass central. Check out their website, they're a great place to buy a bass from. They're very friendly and helpful.

^^^I would take a Flea over a Musicman (assuming you mean a Stingray/Sterling)... in fact.... I DID! I've got the same bass, but mine's a 2000 model without the Badass (has a Gotoh 201, which IMO is just as good), and mine's got the Lane Poor MM. I like the Lane Poor more than the SD or the Bart, but the Nordstrand Alnico V MM4.2 is sounding pretty amazing... I can't decide which I like better. All in all, great review, and I love mine just as much as you love yours (although, I wish mine had the sparkle finish, that's so overly garish... I love it!)

I check every day on ebay for a lane poor for sale. No luck yet.

I've played this and the old model, both nice. Not many that play better than this beauty, however there is one that comes to mind- Warwick Streamer Stage Two. That funky *** peice of machinery rumbles like a mother ****er, and plays so sweet. Unbeatable tone range, comfy like a pillow and all for £1600- not too cheap but well worth it.

I just got a jazz bass. A Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. It's only half the price of the Flea bass and it still took me over 2 months to save up for it.

It's lighter than normal. It is WAY lighter than my old fender p-bass.

I check every day on ebay for a lane poor for sale. No luck yet.

Well, I'm having a Nordstrand MM4.2 put in to replace my current Lane Poor. If I decide that I like it more than the Lane Poor, I'd be happy to sell you mine. Shoot me an email to edge_q5@yahoo.com and we can discuss it further. I should have the bass back and tested by the middle of next week.

Musicman Stingray still a better bass in my opinion. I dont think anything can possibly sound better than a stingray

Its essentially the same bass as a stingray except for the fact that it has a MUCH more stable neck (possibly the most stable neck available today), and the construction quality of these are infinitely better than anything available publicly from Ernie Ball. I value your opinion though, I was just countering with mine. :thumb:

Thats cool, but after playing a stringray I could not imagine a much better sound, anyway for the modulus, its not just the bass its the amp you are running it through too :thumb:

I see how everyone compare the Flea Bass and the Stingray. There is no denying the stingray is an amazing bass, but the flea bass, at least in my opinion just goes a little farther. The graphite neck, the incredible finish and electronics just add that extra little bit that makes this instrument what it is...awesome!

If you read my post I said I was selling the old pickup out of the bass, not the bass itself.

If its the amp you're running it through, a better sounding bass would sound better through the same amp as a lesser sounding bass. I'm not trying to argue about the tonal aspects of a Flea versus a Stingray, but your argument is nothing but conjecture.
