there are other threads about this. but,
to stop getting mucous, stop eating dairy and beef products. (according to the Merkaba Bible Ch 3. Verse 14-17)
and yes it does effect your singing.
instead of coughing and gagging it up, you can warm up it out. if u get that.

I get mucous from my allergies, I'm sure a decongestant would help you even if you don't have allergies.

yea, but most of them do so by drying it up. most have caffeine in them or pseudoephedrine which is basically the same thing. if you do use them, look for something that doesnt have "...drine " in it . or go to a health food store and look for some natural remedies. My whole family has bad allergies. i used to get reactions really bad until one time i said the hell with it and went running in like the middle of like april or whenever when everything is covered in yellow pollen. i ran the whole season. ever since i dont get half the reaction as i used to.

merkaba, sometimes when i just swallow (as you do, periodically), i can feel mucus going down with the swallow, is this some kind of medical deficieny(sp?) and I should see a doctor if I am to sing?
I mean yea it thins out when i drink 3-4 litres of water a day but peeing every ten minutes (i've a weird bladder, i guess) gets very tedious
thank

macaroni and cheese contains cheese. cheese is dairy. dairy = DEATH! no, stay away from dairy. phlegm like a mother****er. drink a lot of water. and tea. hot tea, not iced tea. blow your nose. haha... really, if you're swallowing a lot, it's probably coming from your sinuses and your nose.

Don't turn to alcohol, as it dries out the throat. In fact, better to discover the source of the problem than "cover up" the problem. It's possible diet could be to blame, but you should also look at other allergies. In fact, a visit to an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist) may be in order. If you can pin point the allergy, then you can avoid it...thereby solving the problem.
In the meantime, the best thing to get rid of mucus and post nasal drip stuff is a saline solution (salt and water). You can buy over the counter saltine nose sprays, but I find that gargling with salt water works better. What works best, though, is getting a netti pot and rinsing your sinuses with salt water.
Hope this helps,
Kristina

You can get em from wal greens or any health food store. They look like a little tea pot but you fill it with saline solution and pour it into one nostril and let it flow over and out the other. Then switch. It might help a bit with nasal drainage and nasal type of mucus problems but Its not a magic pill. But it is a good habit to get into for its general health and illness prevention reasons. If youre not allergic to things, I would suggest looking into dietary changes to see if you can pinpoint the problem's cause. It wouldnt hurt to see an ear, nose and throat doctor if you dont get over it soon. But I would say mucus in an occasion swallow isnt much to worry about, but if it happens alot then you might have some sinus issue.

well are you very allergy prone? do you get the sniffles alot or get head colds more than say twice a year? Unless you have a birth defect I always say that anything is curable by natural means...even some birth defects. As in congenital diseases. I would say if its persistent then to see the doc and get a professional, personal consultation and basically ask him about singing and stuff. Try to book with an ear nose and throat doctor, otolaryngologist ....not just a regular doc... if you can. Keep us posted. and yes drink plenty of water and fruit. You can train your bladder a bit!

Get a head cold about once every 2 years (eat lots of vitamin C)
Yeah so is there any way to train your bladder so as not to pee so much, or at least of often?
thanks for this help man /me appreciates

just drink alot until your subconcious gets the hint...unless you have a small bladder...which may be the case...which would just be tough luck.
Dont forget to get some potassium in some source to help keep your electrolyte level up with all the drinking. I eat about one banana and two or three kiwi throughout the day.
