I went to a small party at my friend's girlfriends house yesterday. It was strangely similar to the Great Gatsby and Lost in Translation. Maybe it was because there was DDR and a trampoline in her livingroom, or because I was somewhat stoned, but it seemed magical.

there's this one local band with some people i know in it. one of their songs is fairly standard metalcore riffing, but in the middle it stops dead and there's a soundbite from Jurassic Park where the black says "Hold on to your butts."

Then the song starts back up again. I just thought I'd mention that because it's so badass

I saw Colin Meloy last night. First opening act was Amy Annelle. Pretty songs, but a bit boring. Laura Veirs was the next opener, who put on a pretty good show. Interesting songwriting and some great guitar work. On multiple songs, she would start using a pedal to make loops, so a giant symphony of her own vocals and guitar would begin to form. Very cool.

Colin Meloy himself was really wonderful. His random props (a sheep statue, a skull, and a ship, each of which he had named) and anecdotes were highly amusing. Plus, most performers tug around their bottle of water, but no, Colin Meloy is too cool for that. He instead had a bottle of red wine to replenish himself between songs.

The majority of what he played was Decermbists songs, so when he would get to an electric guitar/string/female vocal solo, he'd make some comment about it while he and the rest of the audience would hum/sing the part. He played two songs with John Wesley Harding, and sounded great all through the night. I highly recommend seeing him if he comes around to your town.

Nah, London's the shoddy bit. What's the good bit then? London is so magical...I could sit and watch life go by there for hours.

I guess it's because I don't go all that often but I bloody love London. If you can get away from all the commercial areas there are some of trendiest yet most tradtional shops and venues around. I'm going there on Sunday and plan on strolling down Denmark Street to stare at guitars I can't afford, then I'm off to London Astoria for Corrosion of Conformity! w00t.

I don't think I'll ever let my hair grow out again. Short hair suits me.

T'other way around for me.

I would like to post an official, major whine/pity session about how I have my ap chem final, pre-cal final, and spanish 7-8 (supposedly the ap spanish final that everyone fails...but with the beloved curve) final all tomorrow...and how they're my worst three classes and how I will fail and bring down my grades for the final semster (all three are like right on the edge B/C, A/B, A/B respectively). With bleeding fingers and a broken head...

Plus I've been feeling sick all day and my stomach is killing me. How much worse can things get?

Your penis could get cut off while you're asleep..

But yeah, I know the pains of ap tests. I just see them as paying to get out of school for a day. Needless to say, I only passed 2 out of 4 of the ones I ever took.

Except that I'm a girl, and I'm pretty sure he's into the one girl who hates me at my school, and I really should be studying right now but I'm far too distracted.

Sigh, a whole lot.
