the scenes of kong climbing up the empire state building were the only highlight for me. but it was damn impressive

King Kong was so-so. In my opinion, you people are exagerrating the last line. It wasn't that bad. Certainly not the worst line in the movie. The "Heart of Darkness isn't an adventure story, is it?" line was waaaaay more cringe-worthy. In fact, that kid's existence was annoying and pointless.

Oh, and I found Jack Black to be the most enjoyable character in the movie.

It is incredible just how many people are having a fit over that last line. I personally didn't find anything horrible about Black's delivery and thought it was a good tribute to the original. Perhaps people would've been happier though if we had Sean Penn playing a dry Denham, with Daniel Day-Lewis providing his most dramatic performance yet as the voiceover for Kong's grunts. My point: the whole movie was mindlessly entertaining cinematic fluff so there's no point in picking apart a single line.

Oh, so every time the audience laughed at something Black did, they were reacting the wrong way? There were plenty of parts that were obviously meant to be comedic and Black did a fine/good job with them. And since none of the other characters were interesting, Black was the most enjoyable character in the movie.

I don't know, I actually really enjoyed it. I generally hate most big blockbusters but I liked this and I really Like what he did with Lord Of The Rings. King Kong got a bit boring in places but Peter Jackson is really good at creating epic moments, like the battle scenes in LOTR and the dinosaur stampede in KK. It's not a classic or anything, but it's a fun film to watch even if just for eye candy.

Definitely. I think all the scenes should individually be cut down. All of what happened was progressive and important to the story, but they took too long to do what they were intended to do.

And I'd agree, while the last line is a direct quote from the original, it was still a terrible line.
