I saw a band from Milwaukee tonight at my local venue, and as part of their big "finale," one of the guitarists played a Metallica solo. It was funny, because he was all "thanks everyone for coming...[blah blah blah]...here's a Metallica solo," and he just whipped it out. They weren't a metal band, by the way. More of an indie rock sort of deal.

Wow, that sounds big. When the Stones came to Pittsburgh, it was Pearl Jam who opened for them. There's a much greater gap in album sales between the two, not to mention that PJ supposedly has some sort of activist stance on everything. At least in your show you have two bands who have no qualms about raking in the dough (I would call them sellouts but that's a bit negative).

Got back from a Bright Eyes concert in Omaha (2 hours from me) saturday, the concert was friday, november 11th. Was an awesome concert, opening acts were : Willy Mason, David Dondero, and Spoon.

Yes, actually I did. The campus was beautiful and the idea of no core curriculum and option of pass/fail seems inviting. I love the fact too that there seems to be a huge amount of support for the arts. It'll definitely be on my list of schools to apply to.

I did not know this

It happened in 2003 when they were touring in Oklahoma. They pulled up to a gas station in 2 unmarked vans and an unmarked white-panelled truck with all their equipment in them. The gas station attendent then handed a note to a customer saying the band were terrorists. The band was questioned for 3 hours and eventually let go. They told the story at their concert the next night.

College is the school for the undergrads. Any school that's just undergrads is a college. A school with a graduate program is a university, but the undergraduate part is called a college still.

That's not entirely true. There are certain things you have to go to college for, regardless of your level of intelligence. There are also programs where you go to university and then you go to college to get hands on experience, like most engineering careers.

I think my college education is going to focus on music and technology. Hopefully I will learn about studio techniques and equipment, but if that doesn't "ring my chimes" as much as I expect it to, I will try to go into composition. If I am found to be a loser by all universities, as I'm sort of predicting, I don't know what I'll do. I hope I can get into a music program, because it's all I care about. I just don't know that I'm good enough.
