I don't know, theres not really an answer to that question. Everyone has their own interpratation and connotations which they attatch to words. In my oppinion it refers to lifestyles, it's too hard to tie any specific range of music into 'alternative for it to be a genre.

True, and now I have time to do things, so it would be fun.

We might have to pick a better album-selecting mechanism though. Perhaps just an unrestrained discussion of the interested people or something. I feel like the categories and the voting sort of took the fun out of it.

WHOA!!! Cool editing-in-the-post thingy!!!

I'd really like to pick a listening party album in a different way this time. We should have a chat room where we discuss what we're going to listen to, maybe set a time limit or something, and we come out of that chat room with a decision. We can talk about categories, or people can just propose any record they think is good, and we can vote in there. Maybe we can try to reach a unanimous decision so there's no bitching? Then after we do that, we'll decide on a time, all get the record one way or another, and meet back again for the party. What dost thou thinkest?

I'm gonna go check Other Music and then play guitar in the quad. Be back lata.

I'm looking for a piece by Mozart, but you know, I can't keep track of all those crazy names that he used. Anyway, this piece is in that Simpsons episode where Marge tells a story about Mozart, and Bart plays the role of him in the story. So he's having a concert, and Otto, who's sitting in the audience, lifts a candle into the air and yells out a request. So Bart plays the piece like crazy, lifting the piano into the air and plays with his teeth and all. Rock-n-roll to the limit. Anyone know the name of the piece? It's pretty famous.

Openers Cut Copy were cool, I had never heard of them before but they did alright. I wouldn't buy an album though, hey I already own Interpol's records.

TVOTR were kick ***, love those guys.

Franz Ferdinand were great fun, I was surprised the place seemed about half empty and for such a danceable band the crowd seemed pretty stiff. Musically they were cool though, and I have come to the conclusion that I love Scottish accents. Set was too short, but I say that about every show. I want you to play your entire discography god dammit. Especially if you only have about 1h30 worth of music to your name anyways.

they were amazing. local band to detroit thats gaining popularity elsewhere. its great because they play here like twice a year. its also odd seeing as how the singer lives in california yet the rest of the band lives here in michigan. the show was great though. i was right up in front of the lead guitarist. the colonel. theyve gone through so many lineup changes. i think i almost had a heart attack though. too much jumping around after chain smoking.
