Had my music A-level today. Without doubt, the hardest exam I've ever sat in my life. I think I wormed a D out of it, but even doing that would be an achievement, as far as I'm concerned.
It's not so big a deal though. Last year I got an E in the exam and still got a C overall. I only need a D to get on my Uni course, so it's all good.

Boogie Down Productions - Old school
Busdriver - Got the album from you, pretty good stuff
Gift of Gab - Sounds familiar, but not ringing any bells
Blackalicious - Very good
Herbaliser - I've heard a song or two, they have a female MC right?
Mr Lif - Has been featured on a few songs that I have heard, I have never heard an album tho
Herbaliser is a British producer, and he's a dude. He gets guest MCs, and yes, many of the songs feature females. It's not essential, but if you want it, I'll get it to you.
I'm going to add the Afu Ra, Gift, and Lif records to my queue. Gift probably sounds familiar to you because he's one of the MCs in Blackalicious.

California can't possibly separate from the rest of the continent because the San Andreas fault is of the slip-strike variety instead of a divergent or convergent fault. So all that will happen in thousands of years is that San Franciso and LA will get a little closer to each other.
Besides, how can a continent sink into the ocean? It's not like they're floating on the water and there's a giant sea underneath North America. Jeez  continents are pieces of land that are above sea level, not ****ing flotation devices.

Last night I went bowling for like the first time in ten years. I was horrible because I forgot how to bowl. Also, I tried doing it right-handed since that's the hand I throw with. But I write and eat left-handed, and that's really my dominant hand. Eventually I figured out that I should have gone lefty the whole time :(

Band's doing a gig tonite (then I have a solo show). We've decided to do the whole Lightning Bolt with electric guitars and an organ-thing tonite, so that'll be fun. We're doing a Jesus Lizard cover but havn't decided which song yet, so that'll also be fun.
My solo show will be awesome, I'll probably get a bitta tang aswell. We all know guitars = sex these days. anyways, I'm doing 6 originals (one with electric rest with acoustic) and 3 covers. Covers are:
Nada Surf - Killians Red
Joseph Arthur - In the Sun
Weezer - Crab (I do a cool, kinda extended version)

Today I got the Soundgarden album Badmotorfinger. It's very good; a lot different than Superunknown, and my favorite song is definitely "Rusty Cage."
It was hard to buy because they had a lot of great albums at the same lower price. Primus, Pixies, Queens of the Stone Age, and whatever else was in that area of the alphabet that I was looking at when I went up to pay for it.

The Ramones' The Ramones
Red Garland's Red Garland's Piano
Jimmy Smith's Root Down

is a digital piano the same thing as the electric pianos popularized by soul and salsa guys? or is it just a programmable type of synth thing?
Zappa
07-02-2005, 10:38 PM
As I understand it, a digital piano is an attractive piece of musical furniture that realistically reproduces the sound of a piano and perhaps a few other instruments (organs, strings, the old Fender electric piano, etc.) through either a set of speakers in the unit or a separate amplifier when a person strikes its keys (which nowadays are typically weighted to give the player a piano-like feeling).
In other words, my new Korg SP-200 is a dream-machine.
