Kasabian were at no. 23 in MTV2's best 101 bands, one place above Led Zep. I cant tell you what the rest of the list was because I turned on during Led Zep and turned off as soon as I realised it was Kasabian after them.

Wow, Zep was actually underrated for a change.

Stevens and Sean Murphy. O'Sullivan lost to Ebdon before Murphy beat him.

I can't deny Murphy deserves his place, though; considering he's only 22 he's been an excellent player throughout, in pretty much all areas of the game (and his last five frames against Ebdon were somewhat awesome). He's struggling a little against Stevens so far, though.

Dave de Sylvia
05-01-2005, 07:07 PM
He should have gone in at 8-8, now he's 10-6 down. I wouldn't rule him out, he's been playing some fantastic snooker.

Bartender
05-01-2005, 07:20 PM
Well the last time Stevens was in an Embassy final, he went from something like 13-6 up, to losing the match 18-14. So yeah, I wouldn't rule him out. If Murphy wins, he'll be breaking all kinds of records, won't he?

Dave de Sylvia
05-01-2005, 07:24 PM
Yeah, 13-7 against Mark Williams, but Stevens wsn't playing half-bad that day either. Williams was just amazing. If Murphy wins, I believe he'll be the first qualifier to win the Embassy Champ., aswell as the 2nd youngest(Stephen Hendry was the youngest, I think)

I thought Alex Higgins (still the best ) was the youngest, at 23. It's not inconceivable that Hendry was younger though..

He'll also be the last ever winner of the Embassy championship, which isn't exactly a record, but something he'll be remembered for nonetheless.

I say DON'T remove The Beatles, for one.

Though, it all depends upon whether you want 'The Most Important Alt/Indie Bands' or 'The Most Important Bands For The Alt/Indie Genre'. There's a difference. The Beatles weren't an indie band unto themselves, but they had a massive influence on the genre.

Yeah. Although if they were around today rather than then, they'd probably be classed as alt/indie.

And it's not like they're the only band on there who are guilty of not being strictly alt/indie. Dylan, Can, The Clash, etc...

AndreTheHyena
05-02-2005, 11:21 AM
True. Shucks, I dunno. It's just that they're getting so many votes, and I don't want them to end up being the final band chosen, because that's not exactly what I wanted the polls to show.

Iai2
05-02-2005, 11:40 AM
I doubt they'll beat The Pixies. Or Radiohead.

In any case, you can always pull the 'undeserving voter' routine, like Med did with Dark Side Of The Moon in the Top 100 albums...... ;)

AndreTheHyena
05-02-2005, 01:19 PM
What was that? What happened?

Iai2
05-02-2005, 01:28 PM
When we did the Top 100 Albums, Dark Side Of The Moon got enough votes to get into the top 10. Loads of the regulars complained, because when you looked at who had voted for it, it was loads of people who never voted in A&I.

So we discounted all their votes. Then me and Med counted all the people who had voted in the preliminary rounds, and decided who was allowed to vote in the final.

True.

Frances The Mute is pretty lame. De-Loused was defintely over-the-top, but FTM sure takes the cake. Theres no substance to it at all. 50% of the album is ambient garbage and complete nothing-ness.
