I'm going to see Explosions in the Sky on the 8th in New York City. Is there anyone else going to their show that date and is there anyone that can tell me how great the show is?
i might be going to the one on oct 5th in philadelphia, and ive seen them before and any expectations you may have of them will be met and exceeded. its a wonderful things to watch, just make sure you get pretty close but not too close, the bassist almost hit me in the face with his bass, cause he was moving back and forth so much...

For some reason ticketmaster isn't selling tickets for the Explosions show... My friend apparently knows someone at the venue they're playing so he said they could probably hook us up with some tickets.
Seems kind of sketchy though...

Thanks.. I really appreciate it. I'm still a bit shocked right now. I've known her for a few years, she's a great person and I didn't expect something like this would happen to her. And she doesn't deserve that. It sucks that I can't do anything for her 'cause we're thousands of miles apart.
She said she wants it out of her body. I really can't blame her..
One of my best friends got pregnant after being raped by her then-boyfriend's best friend. On Christmas Day.

Her reaction was exactly the same. She never really got over it though. I know it's not quite the same situation, but just make sure someone's there for her.

I was thinking about this very thing the other day when I was listening to "Me vs Maradona vs Elvis" by Brand New, it's about a guy taking advantage of a drunk girl. I swear right now, that I will fricking die before I become that guy. I never, ever want to be that person. I feel so sorry for any guy who is like that. At the same time, if a guy ever tries something on one of my friends, I swear I will beat the crap out him (this coming from someone who hates fighting and has never been in a real fight in his life). I'm dead serious about this, I will NEVER be that guy. I'd rather be a murderer than that guy. I honestly don't hate anything in this world more than a stupid arsehole who takes advantage of girls. I will die before I become that person.

but this is the reason why abortion should be legal, why should someone have their life ruined because of someone else. if you ban abortion you're taking away the control a woman has over her own body. i do believe a woman should be careful and not just keep having abortions but it still should be their choice what comes out of their body. also if a woman is in dire medical need of one she should be fully medically covered to get one rather then having to use the coat hanger in the alleyway. pro-life is a misinformed ideology based on religious upbringings that need to be looked at again.
A pro-life viewpoint does not take human behaviour into account. That's what it boils down to.

a clear majority of abortions performed are being used as a form of birth control. That is just wrong, in my opinion.
i think partial birth is bad, and should be/remain illegal. women have had plenty of time to think about it by then. it also just gives crazy religious people fuel, by providing them with pictures of mangled babies to blow up and put on signs.
there shouldn't be women having their 5th, 6th and 7th abortion. but if one can justify a single abortion, it should stand for multiple, as it's the same act, just multiple times. still that just creeps me out that some women have had that many. doctors should like, scar their abdomen for each abortion they have....yeah it sounds crazy, but it'll reduce the number of abortions!
i hate the idea of abortion, but i support the womens choice to have one. i don't feel one way about it. it's too complicated to feel one way about.

But even if that's your view, do you not think that ultimately comes down to her decision? If the father was less of a cunt, I'd say he should be involved too.
I wish abortions were never necessary, but I also don't want to see a) back-street, highly fatal, illegal abortions and b) babies born into unloving families where they are not wanted and resented.

Obviously it's not her fault that she's pregnant, but it's not the babies' fault either. The baby doesn't deserve to die just because it is unwanted. I'd feel bad if I was a woman and I aborted my baby. I'd feel even worse if I was a friend who just let one of my friends do that so she could feel terrible about it for the rest of her life. a baby is only a baby outside of the womb, inside the womb is a fetus which is a collections of cells unable to support its life on its own giving the right of its fate to the bearer. abortion isnt the best way i'll agree but living in the world we do, do you really want a child to come into this world when its parent isnt even able to take care of themselves?

I got back to school last night after a great weekend in new york and seeing explosions in the sky. I'd rather be at home and bettering myself as I see fit. I don't even have to time to exercise anymore, which is driving me insane. This is because I either have to be smoking something or exercising to keep my state of mind clear, but since I dont have time to exercise, I've been smoking too much. I'm really trying to stop. I know it's going to be hard, but I've got my LiveStrong bracelet on right now and I'm waiting for some free time to hit up the gym. Finished my 3 hour early morning shoft at work, just sitting around relaxing about to get myself something to eat, and the futureheads pop on mtv2.
Now, i'll admit decent days and nights was catchy, but I still cant help wondering how these guys, who are constantly just.....out of tune sounding, got so big so fast.
they're big? i don't think they sound out of key tho, certainly they mess about with time signatures which can sound strange but it all sounds well in tune to me!
it's a good cd, one of the ones i listen to in my car at the moment.

I'm going to Arizona for a week for a history trip (yay for posh private school) so I shall be unable to post for a little while.
If any of you live in Arizona, we will be the gaggle of English schoolgirls that are everywhere. It's gonna be great.
I would love a music nerd girlfriend, we can argue about who's the most badass band on the planet, I say Can, she says Kyuss, I win then we make sweaty music nerd love.
Hah! Same here. Then again, any girl who dates me is going to end up a music nerd anyway, because I rub off on people.

I had a pretty bad day. I've started my new job as a cleaner at the college - doing the art department. The whole department. On my own. :upset: Even the people who clean toilets pity me.
I have to arrange Comfortably Numb for solo guitar, and learn it before Monday. I have a mock exam in Music. A weekend to learn THAT?!? Ah well. If I pull it off, I'm God.

I just spent a week in the "big city". It was really good, I caught up with some friends I hadn't seen for ages, saw Missy Higgins play, saw Damien Rice play, drank heavily, bought cds, bought clothes, ate subway, ate choc chip peanut butter, saw Shaun Of the Dead, went guitar shopping, ordered a telecaster, bought some cymbals, walked around and threw up and nearly missed my train home.
What a week.

I was in New York last wekeend and I wish I were back there just because there's nothing to do here on the weekends. I don't think I've ever really mentioned much about my life in here so I might just give it a shot.
I had a fairly decent week cause my bro came down to visit (Tapey). Got to go see Damien Rice and then went and got trashed and witnessed my brother having a vom, as was previously mentioned. I've got a pretty boring life at the moment though, due to uni being a really busy bastard. I'm nearly finished though so it's all ok.
