I appreciate your vote...but I think many people here are good in their own way. We got some unique styles, then gain we've got a lot of repetitive stuff too. I like to think that we are each the best at creating our own type of song though. Real hard to pick just one or two people when there are people who can do one thing and someone else can do another style better.

he's exactly right. honestly i don't like much of what i see because i listen to pop-punk and most of this stuff is death metal or really hard rock (basically saying that it's really dark). not to say that stuff isn't well written, the vocab and structuring is awesome, but it's just not my cup of tea. i prefer cups of kahlua. make that gallons.

mine is pop-punk borderline emo. i don't like emo myself but my lyrics come out that way. except the last couple songs i've written.. they're very well within pop-punk lines. pretty good too. but i won't post any of them up here because they always get bashed for being a pop-punk song and i get tired of seeing "3/10 because it's pop-punk. not a bad song! keep it up!" ~ that's the most annoying thing. i get it every post too so i just rely on friends for criticism.

Song writing shouldn't be a competition....with that being said, its very hard to say because some people on here post songs religously while there are some that don't post so often, so it's harder to remember them...Also, songwriting is more than just words...It's musical arrangements and lyrics together that makes songwriters....So I once again will not judge from just reading lyrics....Best lyrics in the world would suck if sung to horrible music, and vice versa.

I can't really judge. I'm extremely picky about what I read. And some people give me a pleasant surprise from song to song. The problem is that there's been a recent glut of very darkly emotional songs dumped on here, and it most of them tend to get pretty heavy. With my life as hectic as it is at the moment, that's the last thing I need to be reading. It's nothing personal. I'm just crazy.

Also, different people have a lot of different voices as writers. Myself and a couple others for example tend to narrate stories through our lyrics. That makes a difference for some people.

I'm not really sure where I was going with this. I kind of lost my train of thought somewhere in the second paragraph.

I can't pick a favorite, I seem to lose track of who's writing what these days. From those who post regularly, I really like Baodegoth and Power Ranger's styles, but there are many others. I know there's more than two ... there's alot of talent on these boards.

But, for the ones that are fresh im my memory, I'd have to say Sade, SubtleDaggerer, Mighty Morphin, Pirate Satellite. Oh, I wish I could remember what everyone else has written, because I can't put down a name if I haven't read the pieces in depth. But everyone on here is at least trying. And seeking improvement. Thats the best thing a writer can do.

hey ive been reading the forums for a long time now and the best songwriter in my opinion is mshort813. the kid doesnt post a lot of threads but the songs he writes are amazing. "car crashes and 25th hour apologies" was truly the greatest song ive ever read on these forums, and maybe off the forums. other really great writers are nichelle, benbaker, subtledagger, and maggot. and a_perfect_sonnet is a really great writer. great writing everyone.

I guess if I did have to choose based on overall writing, I'd go with SubtleDagger, Bexi, pixies, Mighty Morphin, BigBadBob, and Dfelon. Sorry I can't narrow it down more, but I like all of you.
