WYWH is a great album. Is Aussie Pink Floyd that cover band?
Yeh, they're amazing.
Don't worry AB/CD, its not as bad as over in the Sabbath thread when we get n00bs asking about Ozzy's solo band.

I ripped Fly on the Wall to my pooter earlier, it's an alright album.

I agree. They're highly over-rated.
The only way i think they are over rated is because you get all these little poser kids wearin their shirts so they can be cool. But you have to admit they have really good riffs. AC/DC kicks anis. they are my favorite band of all time.

just let me say in advance that a lot of people will probably disagree with me on this but im kind of hypocritical on this so here i go....
AC/DC is a good band in the sense that they play catchy tunes that you can hear for the first time and sing along to or tap your foot to. but.... Thats because there songs a simple but good. AC/DC isnt all that great of musicians they've won people over simplicity and catchyness
Ac/Dc=PWNAGE
But seriosly ac dc is one of the better 70's bands that actully had distortion aside from van halen.......

Not only that, but Angus and Malcolm's tones are instantly recognizable.
Case in point- Id never heard Live Wire before, yet as soon as I heard the opening bass line, and the guitar kick in, I knew it was AC/DC. They've got one of the most recognizable sounds out there.

AC/DC is an ok band. Sure, they're one of the biggest badns in older rock but the talent isn't up to par with others of their time. Some of their songs are pretty good, but like others have said, the ones that don't sound the same aren't bad.

AC/DC is alright by me, but saying that they're the best is stretching it, in my opinion. Angus has some alright solos, but I've found Hendrix, Page, Hammett, and numerous others to be leagues ahead of Angus. Best solos ever is pushing it, in my opinion.
yea i completely agree witht that .........check out my new thread.....AC/DC is the best rock band..........
Again, it's pushing it. You have Hendrix and Zep to look over, and AC/DC gets repetitive to me.
I like AC/DC well enough, especially "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", but I don't consider them to be the all time greatest. There's simply too much to really go into before reaching a conclusion such as that.
But "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" is very catchy to me.

Not only that, but Angus and Malcolm's tones are instantly recognizable.
Case in point- Id never heard Live Wire before, yet as soon as I heard the opening bass line, and the guitar kick in, I knew it was AC/DC. They've got one of the most recognizable sounds out there.
true. but the vocals are more recognizable i think

Don't forget to keep uploading Brewer, its great to hear these rarities.
Did Dave Evans record many songs then? Or just those two?
Just those two, he was then replaced for the night once cause he didnt show up. Bon sang from then on, he was too glam rock anyway.

Best rock n roll band there is and Angus is one fo the greatest guitar players and theyr riffs may be simple but the solo's are **** hard( I can see because some people find it to hard to post the solo of live wire complete.) But still wish i could one day paly better then him but that day will never come :P But i'll still enjoy it always enjoied it and all of there songs are great . Some fans say that flick of the switch and Fly on the wall or not so great but to me they're just anohter 2 great albums full of Good old ROck n roll

Well, it said it was a demo so it was proably from when they were first trying to get signed, before '74 Jailbreak was realeased.
rippa32
07-06-2005, 04:37 AM
'74 Jailbreak was not there first album. In fact its an EP released in the 80's(I think) but it is not there first. There first was High Voltage (not the one with Long Way) the international one was basically a slightly altered TNT album.
Follow The Reaper
07-06-2005, 04:39 AM
No, High Voltage was their first in America, but Jailbreak was realeased in Australia in '75 I think. And it was realeased in America after Back In Black.
rippa32
07-06-2005, 04:43 AM
Jailbreak was never released in Australia until recently when the whole International catalouge was released in Australia. Yes I said that High Voltage was the first internationally but it was almost unrecognisable to the Australian version because it was just the Australian TNT with a couple of songs taken off and replaced by Little Lover and Can I Sit Next to You Girl.

Maybe not in Austraila, but in Europe or somewhere, I remember reading that it was realeased in some foreign county (to me at least).
EDIT: I'm sorry, it was the Jailbreak single that was realeased in Australia.
And I looked at the booklet inside of '74 Jailbreak and it said it was realeased in North Americain 1984.

I just read the first post of the topic (didn't want to read the 78 pages) and I don't know if I'm still in the conversation but I'll say that there's a thing that we don't care about when we criticize. and this thing is the influence. Yeah ac/dc music is very simple, the musicians are overrated but if they are famous, its because they are good in something, no?
Ac/dc popularized their rock style, and if they didn't decide to form a band, a lot of today's band would not sound the same or would not even exist.
this is my 2 cents..

Are you guys going to be doing any covers for the thread cover competition? I'm making an effort to put some air back into the competition, so I'm just putting out some reminders. :)
I would do that with AC/DC, but I don't know how to put them on the computer.

Jake's 3 step method to recording stuff.
1. Go to Walmart or any other place with an electronics section and purchase a 10 dollar computer mic.
2. Download the recording program audacity from http://www.audacity.sourceforge.net and use it to record.
3. Upload the song either on http://www.yousendit.com or create an account on http://www.soundclick.com

Did anyone here ever go see acdc at Donnington? I did, well I was there but I couldnt see them. I saw a big black square out in the middle of a field of people and a lot of smoke. dont know what was causing the smoke
Let There Be Rock Is a great album, the only reason the songs are alittle ****ed up is because Angus's amp blew up in middle of recording.
Whole Lotta Rosie live is godly :)
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is another Bon Scott masterpiece.

I found out that most of the time, angus doesnt even use any distortion pedals or anything, just a loud tube amp amplified by pa systems.

He doesn't even use Pa Systems, he only uses Marshall Amps with natural distortion pedals, he is against pedals, and effects.

I think he meant that they are rock and roll and rock and roll generally doesn't use any effects. You can't hear any effects on any of their albums. If you watch them they have a ****load of amps so they obviously don't need a pa system, and Angus has said many times that they don't use PA's, effects, just natural distortion.

He doesn't use effects. His tone is really dry and lifeless, you can hear it in the music. If he only used some effects the band would be twice as good.

you might burn in hell for that, you mean the beginning of Thunderstruck has no life, what about hells bells, or even highway to hell?
I just said his tone wasn't very good. The band is great, ballsy, hard rockin' and has one of the best live shows ever.

funny but explain where that attitude came from, your mother when you where 10, be real dude, you got to forget everything anyoone has said or told you about music and musicians and form your own opinions about things.
and so they did :)
Angus and Malcom were never the kind that listened to their mommy.

I always wondered, how did acdc get its name?

Because Angus and Malcolm saw AC/DC (AlternateCurrent/DirrectCurrent) on a Vacum cleaner and thought it was a good name.
