he also very small
him and malcom are only like five feet two inches.
AB/CD
02-19-2005, 05:53 PM
ah but least their feet can touch the ground when they sit in chairs lol i remember reading an interview and angus and brian were racing round the table on their chairs
AC/DC are very short. Exept for their drummer(s).

I think bon was 5'5.somewhere around there.i think that bon was a better singer than brian. however, brian does have a good, high-pitched growl when he sings. it gives him alot of personality

any1 know who was gonna do lead before angus and what his excuse was for not doing it

Yes it was Malcolm. The reason was that playing lead guitar would interfere with his drinking.

The title has nothing to do with Rosie. On the australian Let There Be Rock album instead of Problem Child there is a song called Crabsody in Blue. And to whoever said that The Jack is about crabs is wrong, The Jack is Australian slang for gonareeha(I think thats how its spelt).

Sorry to do this to you again but the australian High Voltage didn't sell all that well. It didn't even have High Voltage the song on it. Also the line-up was one that was before their classic line-up. It was Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Bon Scott, George Young(Angus and Malcolms older brother formely of the easy beats played bass on this album, he also produced it along with many other AC/DC albums), Tony Kerrante (no idea who this actually is).

AC/DC is a great example of what rock and roll really is. It's about catching the audience and taking them for a hell of a ride, which is exactly what they do at every single one of their concerts. Their songs may be simple, but anyone who doesn't get a kick out of Angus's guitar solos + insane dancing is just being ridiculous. They're a very entertaining band and one of my favourites.

'Can I sit next to you girl'?
He also did a second song, but I've totally forgotten the name of it. I think it was the B side track.
Anyway, back to what I posted in a different thread, I need to help;
Well, seens as for some reason I can't make a thread, I'm a huge fan of AC/DC and have been for years. I know them inside out... and for an English Test I have to do a talk about them.
I plan on talking about past and present, and also playing a video I've got for Rocker. Without a doubt, Angus young is an idol. What he does on stage is so passionate, and is unbelievable rock and roll.
Well, I was wondering if anybody knew of any videos on the Internet with Angus Youngs' greatest moments in or something? I plan on playing Rocker because he plays two awesome solo's, and also does the usual duck walk, goes into crowd on Body guards shoulders, goes on Bon Scotts shoulders, goes off stage because he needs oxygen... hits the floor and spins round playing the guitar. You know... that ole' shinanigon.
If I could find a video with tons of these great clips of him, It would be good to show me' mates.
Cheers.

AC/\/DC are truly excellent, ok a few of their songs have similar sounds but with a band that old thats bound to happen, probably due to their style of writing music. Angus and Malcom are solid guitarists, with flair both in their writing, technique and on the stage. There have been a fair few bassists for them, each with slightly differing styles but fundamentally they play the root notes and keep everything held down. Phil Rudd (and AC/DC's other drummers, but primarily Rudd) IMO, is key to their sound... can you imagine portnoy rattling off the 32nd note polyrhymths over his 500-voice kit to a nice, steady bluesy/rock'n'rolly band like ACDC? It just wouldn't be practical. The drum parts are well written and complement the music. Not that I don't like Portnoy, he's one of my favourite drummers at the moment, easily in the top 5 progressive drummers in the world. Flaming ACDC on the basis that they're too simplistic is pointless - they easily have the talents to be a virtuoso, OTT progressive band, but they aren't. They do what they enjoy and they do it **** well. Sorry this went on a bit...
Oh yeah, and to not like ACDC, or any band, or anything for that matter, on the basis that it's overrated is really, really stupid. The fact that people overrate them doesn't actually change how well they play, or what they play etc.
Just a thought

Since then, I've shown a few of mates, one of which who used to be ghetto gangster who listens to rap, and I've got a few people into them.
By the way, I agree about the drumming. The whole band is very simple, but thats what makes it Rock 'n' Roll. Angus adds the flair by kicking out a few solo's. Angus Young is very under-rated if you ask me...

Malcolm is the rock behind the band. I remember hearing an Interview of one of the AC/DC DVD's, where Angus is talking about Malcolm. The interveiwer was asking Angus wether Malcolm could do some of the solo's that Angus plays on stage, and Angus said Malcolm could probably do them better. When AC/DC first formed, Angus was told he had to be the entertainer... Malcolm, Phil Rudd and Cliff Williams were just the hard stone behind the band. Angus said that Malcolm is far more important than he will ever be, seens as Malcolm keeps everything in place, and keeps the force driving.

AC/DC is one of the best rock and roll bands out there today. They have for the majority very god songs with great guitar parts. I agree woth the fact that they are overated, but for the most part there music is liked by a lot of people from England to Sweeden to America. They are obviouosly doing something right if thier CD Back In Black has sold alone over 20 million copies world wide.
Angus Young is a great guitar player who is thought by many to be the best guitar player just because he can play solos that are mind blowing, but what most people miss is the fact that Malcolm the rhythm guitar from AC/DC is as good if not better than Angus Young. For example Malcolm wrote the intro lick for Back In Black and Angus has said he can't play it that exact way. Together the two of them wrote moost of the licks for their songs. Malcolm might have orginally played some lead but according to him it got in the way of his drinking.
Also, another comon argument about AC/DC is that Brian Johnson is better then Bon Scott or vice versa. The truth is that they both have their own style of singing or yelling in this case here. Brian Johnson has been with them longer so his voice sounds a little bit more natural because he has been with them for about 25 years and made more albn=ms with hem and most of there hits have been with him (i.e. back in black, for thoose about to rock, You shook me, thunderstruck etc.) but Bon was still a great singer and his life was cut short from drinking to much and choking on his vommit R.I.P. but he was and is a force to be reckoned with.

Finally someone who sees that Bon and Brian have there own great points. Just one thing Back in Black didnt sell 20 million worldwide, that was just in america. It was something like 40 million worldwide. What a great band.

I named Cliff and Phil, but didn't feel the need to name Simon Wright, Chris Slade, Mark evans, or Larry Van Kriedt, due to the fact that Cliff and Phil have been the main drummer/bassist over the years.

Angus....Legend, He may not be the best player in the world but he sure can rock that SG of his. Bon Scott will always be the best singer theyve every had, and i salute Brian Johnsonn for taking his play as the front man but Bon Scott can not be beaten. You ppl are right of course the music does all sound the same and that is wot makes Ac/Dc who they are, its their own type of music, they created it and no one has ever been able to imitate it, sure you can play their songs but they never sound the same as what they do when they play. I have every Ac/Dc album ever recorded, including the rare ones and they are still in my top 5 bands. :thumb:

When I first heard Jailbreak I could have sworn it was "It's a long way to the top". But obviously then I realised is wasn't. This was back in the day when I wasn't too knowledgable of AC/DC. Bad times...
The video for Jailbreak is good. Angus is dressed in a jail outfit playing guitar, and when the lyrics 'But he made it out, with a bullet in his back' are sung, Bon Scott is running and Malcolm and I think its Angus, shoot bullets into the ground. Bon scott falls...
Pretty much a classic.

Phil Rudd left after flick of the switch (no one knows for sure but the most popular rumour was that he and malcolm got into a fight) They then employed Simon Wright who left after Blow Up Youre Video because he decided he would rather play with DIO. Chris Slade was then employed for the Razors Edge and the subsequent tour. He left soon after because the band met up with Phil, had a jam session and then hired him again. He then went on to drum for Ballbreaker and Stiff Upper Lip. And thats the story up until now. Phil Rudd is still in.

ac/dc are a very popular band and they rock live. however, their drummer, Phil Rudd, is overrated as he plays the same basic beats in nearly every song. Angus is an OK guitar player but he does put on a great live show. still, they are one of the best rock bands of all time.
(whoever says music isn't about how good you are, that its only about selling albums is completely insane)

My favorite cd by them would have to be If You Want Blood, or Let There Be Rock. Both are way underrated, I love Angus's guitar work on LTBR

I disagree.
For one, Phil Rudd doesn't get to show off how good he actually is on the drums. If he played insane beats to AC/DC's tracks, it would ruin the song. It's all about simplicity. Who knows, he could have a few fair skills up his sleave... And secondly, nobody actually over rates Phil Rudd. I never hear anybody talking about Phil Rudd and how good he is at drumming. If I hear talk of Phil Rudd, it's because they are talking about how the simple beats fit with AC/DC's style.

I agree that he may not be as skilled as some of the greatest guitarists in the world, but I think he's better because of his entertainment. What he does on stage is brain bustering...

If you people listened to AC/DC's earlier stuff you would see that angus is better than you give him credit for. Still maybe not as good as others such as Jimmy Page but still worth looking into.

personally AC/DC are a great band.
I like the whole thing about the songs sounding repetitive beacause thats what keeps me interested in them. Ive been into a few bands and gone off them as they bring out a new songs thats completely different n crappy then start doing loads of them so it puts me off them, thats one of the reasons i like them.

Ya, I've seen it, i think it's from their Stiff Upper Lip Tour, I suppose it's not to bad, it takes place in uhhh i think Germany, dont mark my words.....but ya it's not to bad, Angus like usual has an amazing performance, even at his old age.
In response to the thread starter......Ac/Dc was my first "old" band i listened to, and it has broadened my musical taste, heck i never even knew who Zeppelin was before Ac/Dc.............their music may not be the hardest to play, but what is music, it shouldn't be judged as to how hard it is to play, or how simple the song structure is, IMO music is just expressing one's self, and take it or leave it IMO Ac/Dc has been putting out this greta music for yrs., god bless em lol

I think AC/DC is one of the greatest hard rock bands in rock n' roll history. Angus isn't over rated i think he's maybe even under rated Angus has so many trademarks and is fun to watch. AC/DC songs sometimes sound the same but who cares a lot of bands do. AC/DC is AWESOME! :thumb:

Oh yeah, I've seen the Stiff upper lip tour DVD.
I liked it. Brian tends to scream down the mic a lot through out the show, but all in all a great concert. Angus has one crazy solo in between a song where he walks up a huge path, and then after he's span on the floor and gone right into the crowd, he comes back and goes up an elevator on stage.
Can't wait for my AC/DC Family Jewels to come...

bringing this back (it hooks up wit my thread)
AC/DC is one of the most influetial rock bands in the old days, BUT they are not the best, there are tons of bands that hit the big time with better songs but acdc's way of music just caught people of hook with incredibly easy stuff.
yes they're stuff does get repeptive but i listed the best songs they have...
Highway to hell, back in black, shook me, thunderstruck,TNT,hellsbells.

I reckon that Ac/dc were pretty awesome and have got to be one of the best bands to come out of Australia. They used to be one of my favourite bands but now they just annoy me. It's not so much the band and the music that annoys me, but the people who go on about them when really they don't have a clue about the band and have only heard a few songs.
