There's A UPS Driver In My House had one mis-pressed 7" released in the mid 90's which had one song and nothing on the other side. The packaging was just the dust-cover. Pretty croosh.

Justin, ridiculously obscure emo bands are good if you like the sounds of two guitars that are obnoxiously out of tune mixed with vocals that are either barely discernable or so incredibly low in the mix that they are insignificant and only a hindrance to the already annoying listening experience. To top it off, the recording will be distant and have an uneven mix of all horribly and barely played instruments, sometimes and usually including random static noises so that it seems more DIY.

Ya I know. I'm really pumped. My prediction about them splitting up their influences and becoming more extreme in all directions seems to be coming true. That 1:12 sample is a further step into electronica / indie and the heavy stuff I've heard is a further step into hardcore abstractions. I really like the 3 1/2 songs I've heard so far.

cbmartinez
08-08-2007, 09:01 PM
Yeah dude, the fire song is so good especially because the way they were talking about this album made it sound like it was gonna be a lot more out there, mellow and like wannabe indie. But the fire song made me so happy to hear that there's still a soft spot in their hearts for heavy music and screaming. Even though it hasn't some out yet, I know it's gonna be so hard to decide what is better: the new album or vheissu. The new stuff is incredible and Vheissu definitely changed my life. It's just a matter of whether or not they get too heady on the new stuff. Vheissu was the perfect mix of experimentation without losing focus on what they wanted to do/their traditional sound. If you stick to your traditional sound, the album feels underwhelming. If you experiment too much, the album gets lost and feels confused. Vheissu was perfect.

I'm also really happy that they're not pulling a Sparta with all their blogs about how they were using brushes and experimental stuff and they came out with some radio rock wannabe Radiohead album.

Justin I reccomend you pick up the book "Lords of Chaos" it is a very accurate representation of the early 90s Norwegian Black Metal scene. Its primary focus is on the terrorism of the scene members so it focuses a lot on things such as the prior mentioned incident, and the church burnings, etc. All in all a really great read.
