i've read almost no fiction for probably like five years (excluding all the lies people tell on the internet), but today i picked up a short story book that somebody had left out on a table in the library, and for no particular reason read this story, which i thought was cool:

since i don't read fiction, i'm not very qualified to judge its merits. but since its really short, and i really liked it, i wanted to share.

It's funny it'd be Donald. We read that for creative writing class this past semester. It's really good. If you want I can recommend a bunch of other really good/similar short fiction. It's featured in this anthology called You've Got to Read This that my professor put together. It's pretty legit.

um i don't really have a budget but probably not over 1000. trying to achieve a lead/distortion kinda like that rorschach, merel, struggle, navio forge sound. with a clean channel. tube.

can't think of anything else. i probably could put a lot of money into it but it would take me forever to get

SGlove
02-11-2007, 10:28 AM
Ah.
Two channel.
Gotcha.
You could wait to save up a $500 more I would say a Bogner Shiva.
BBUUTTT..
You can easily achieve that sound with:
1) Marshall JCM900 SLX
2) Carvin Legacy
3) Marshall JCM2000 DSL
4) Laney VH100R
5) Crate Blue Voodoo.

You could also look at a Bad Cat Hot Cat 30r, but those might be a lil expensive.
Check eBay for these amps.
You're looking for a Marshally type sound. These amps will get you there and back.
Laney is the closest to a Marshall sound but with a better clean.
The JCM900 is the best clean from a Marshall, but that's not saying all too much.
Carvin is a poor man's Bogner. Bogner sounds like a Mesa and Marshall had sex with nothing but the best coming from the both of them.
Good luck. You should be able to get these all under $1000.
More like $600-$700

Tell me if this is a good guess for the answer to what the morse code message will be on next weeks jericho.

HINTS:
3. three vowels
2. one word made of two
1. Not a number

Guesses the producers say are close: none, death, a bang (I think before hints went up, wouldve made it easier for them)

Could the answer be: Doomsday?

Apparently they only have 8 correct guesses in the last like week since it started. I thought it was kind of easy, but I could also have the wrong answer. My answer kind of goes with the entire theme of the show, too.

Cause I think it might be right.

THERES A GIANT IN MY WAY
THERES A GIANT

cobert
02-16-2007, 08:01 PM
Thanks guys.

I guess for school I have to do this gay thing and join a band assembled by the chemistry teacher. Its me, my best friend on drums, some douche I really, really hate on guitar, and dude on vocals cant sing very well and I hear that he dislikes me because he think his girlfriend is cheating on him with me. As soon as they break up Im jumping all over that, shes mad hot.

The song selections mad gay though, when he asked for songs to play (1 performance for school, one for after, then a huge show in may with like 4 locals bands for a fundraiser), I suggested Give Me The Cure by Fugazi, and he said "About 4 people in the school know who Fugazi are and theyre all right here". So now were doing some shitty song the guitarist made, and ****ing Bullet For My Valentine song that the singer wanted to do. Because of this I just might quit music, since everyone keeps telling me that you have to play stuff that everyone wants to hear, and how you need a gimmick to get recognition. Its so depressing, its like everyone heard that and just agreed to it, but I really dont want to play some Bullet For My Valentine crap. It would be cool if there was at least one person that knew what hardcore was.

In other news, some white trash metal kid thats sick on guitar might join a band with me and the drummer, so I guess I should probably show him Hot Cross so he can get an introduction to hardcore and get off of Metallicas nutsack.

Questions are still easy, it's just long. Plus, its not like a normal course exam. By that, I mean, its not like 3 hours of math and then 3 hours of reading and writing, its constantly switching up between the two of them so your brain's "gears" shift a lot. You "think in math" for a bit, then read and analyze, etc.

Just tiring and BS.

They definitely have non pop-punk stuff. Ive heard some jamz from black sails off of Pandora that were punk tunes fo sho.

ALSO, IN TERMS OF AT THE DRIVE-IN:

Acrobatic Tenement > in/CASINO/OUT = Alfaro Vive Carajo > El Gran Orgo = Vaya > Relationship of Command

All of it still rules hard though.
