Dude those things are just instrumental breaks hitting on the beat every time. Tons of bands do that. I think you want to the connection to exist more than it really does.

I hope TMV ripped off Off Minor so I can tell some pretentious indie kid that their fav band ripped off an amazing emo band. In essence: Pretentious hardcore/emo kid acts insecure and yells at a pretentious indie kid about something he doesn't give a damn about.

Ya, but so can any fan of any genre really. Metal heads make extremely excessive and stupid claims that alot of metal bands are the best thing in the world and same with some of the hardcore kids. But pretentious really shouldn't apply to music since musical tastes are completely subjective to the listener and what one may think of as overly exaggerated music, the other may think differently.

But it makes total sense to apply it to someone like Sufjan Stevens and other artists. 50 albums on each state? Give me a break.

I have a question and i dont feel like making a whole thread devoted to it. What are some bands that are the bridge between 80s emo and present emo. They sound similar but what band or bands bent the genre to make it sound more like todays emo. If this makes any sense at all. Pluss i probably listen to these bands that youll say and I wont realize because i dont know the time frame of a lot of bands. :confused:

actually i feel like i could make a top ten albums pretty easily maybe. i would feel like it wouldn't give all the bands i love a spot though which is unfortunate and maybe a reason not to do something so limited.

the pine's s/t cd is one of those paper cases and like the insert is too large for the case but they still fit it in and it is kind of stuck inside the little like slip that holds the cd.

So my ex-girlfriend got back from a three week vacation in Europe. Me being the angsty scenester I am, I got depressed and started drinking. Heavily. After 17 Killian's Irish Reds, my friend Doug calls me. He says "Yo Ash what's up?"

"Well uh, my birthday's today. We're celebrating in an hour. Can you make it?"

[ slur ]"Yeah for a bit, then I gotta head home." [ /slur ]

I sat there wondering what I should get Doug, one of my bestest friends in the whole wide world, for the one day of the year we celebrate his existence. I was watching TV when suddenly a commercial with women talking infront of blue backrounds, climbing mountains, defeating Godzilla as he unleashes his imprisoned lizard wrath on Tokya, you know, the usual, and they finally got to the point. It's a commercial for Vagisil, and ointment (I think) that you apply to your cooter when it smells funny. I immediately got up, got a ride from Zach to the closest CVS and stumbled in. Some 19 year old guy asked if I needed help finding anything to which I replied "Where do you keep the Vagisil?" He paused, mumbled a bit of jibberish while trying to figure out why a young man was trying to buy Vagisil, and lead me to it. I made my purchase while the lady behind the counter tried to hold in her laughing, and walked out to the car and headed to Doug's house.


When I arrived, all of my friends were there, along with Doug's family. His mom was video-taping the festivities like she always does and while everyone was getting ready to go out, I passed out on Doug's couch. I was awoken 20 or so minutes later by his brother Charlie so we could watch Doug open his gifts. He opened them one by one until he finally got to the purple, sparkly bag which held my ultimate birthday present. He opened it with an excited and anxious look on his face and finally saw what I had purchased for him. There was a moment of silence and everyone stared at it, confused and slightly offended. Doug then broke the silence by saying

"... Dude.... Ash.... what the ****?"


I was then kicked out of Doug's house by his mother for being an inconsiderate asshole and I'm not allowed back.

But there are very little details on this at this point, other than the record will include all their studio tracks, some live material, and two unreleased tracks. Once again, it all depends on when the band finishes the artwork. (Personally, I am starting to doubt this will happen)

Have you ever seen The Wire? Really, its great. Its so much more analytical than The Sopranos (also great). Its not like, "Heres a mobster, who is also a family man", its like, "Heres an examination of all institutions and how the members within are bound to certain rules, if they like them or not". And every character, drug dealer, drug user, or cop, is likeable.

Along with those 2, entourage is also one of my favorites. Its one of the few shows where its consistently good every season.

I dont know man, Ive watched the Sopranos since it debuted, but The Wire might be on par, maybe better, even though ive only watched the first season On Demand. It was kind of hard to follow though, there was a lot of plot points and characters.

i saw them once a couple years ago, just after fair trades and farewells was released. they put on a great show. they weren't that tight, but they had a ton of energy. as i remember it, they didn't play anything off a new set of lungs.
