What better place to have a hissy fit and then a beautiful reunion than the emo community thread.
I eagerly await a metal-head coming in making fun of the scene bands and using this to back up his "emo is pathetic" argument.

all your harsh words run through my head,
you told me to get bent,
I do wonder what the young men meant?
you then told me to stfu
I think tonight my wrists ill cut !
and now the tears stream down my cheeks
what do they know? they are just net geeks

Okay, but aside from the split they did with The Vida Blue, they released one more thing right? What was that?
EDIT: It seems to be some sorta discography, has their S/T 7", their side of the split, and two more songs. Maybe it's just an internet thing though.

Heh... I after reading these I realised how stupid the post I made was. Anyway, I don't know if anybody is interested in my first impressions of the Emo bands I was able to remember (I've bookmarked a few posts now, and I'll go back and d/l some more), but I'm going to post about it anyway:
Rites Of Spring
Pretty good, I don't see a huge difference between them and most of the hardcore I've heard, but it was early days, right? I'm listening to Deeper Than Inside again now, I like it.
Circle Takes The Square
Naaaah... I didn't like them much. They sound kind of like Minor Threat with the singer from Archenemy. Listening to them again: the vocals on Crow Quill are making me giggle. But it's a bit better than I thought at first.
Sunny Day Real Estate
Wait... What? Are there two bands called Sunny Day Real Estate? The songs I have all sound sort of like the Beatles. Nothing like the other two.
Second listen compounds my confusion. I'd heard they were a rip off of RoS...
Those were the three bands whose names I could remember.

Yeah, they're growing on me as I write. They definitely don't sound like Minor Threat (it was late when I first listened to them) but the vocals are a bit like Archenemy's, only more femenine. I'm starting to like them, or at least 7, which has been playing for the last ten minutes, but I still don't think the vocals are great. I can sort of see why someone might like them, but it's not my kind of singing.

well since you havnt heard a single emo band but like metal, I would say start with rites of spring, embrace, and early fugazi (obviously) but after that you might be more interested in the emo's schizophrenic daughter screamo: check out In/Humanity, Pg. 99, Orchid, The Red Scare, Hassan I Sabbah, Usurp Synapse, and After School KnifeFight. :)
I found a couple Urge Synapse songs, I'm listening to them now. It's pretty good.

They're all good. It's hard to go wrong with Fugazi.
Oh, yeah, I have a few songs and In On The Kill Taker already, I was just wondering which is their more emo stuff.
While we're discussing Fugazi, what albums are I'm So Tired, Turkish Disco and Do You Like Me from? It annoys me not knowing these things...
the album steady diet of nothing is amazing if you want something by fugazi. oh and of course 13 songs.
I have a song or two off 13 songs. I might get another Fugazi album when I have money, they're nice and cheap:).

i thought that at first too, but it grows on you. When you're used to Cryonics, his vocals sound really disappointing on the new tracks. It just takes a couple of listens to get into it. Its still really emotional, hes just not screaming anymore. Its more shouty/sung type stuff. At some points he does get a little screamy though. Its just different, it grew on me. Listen to Tacoma, if you haven't heard it i'll send it over AIM.
Billy thought he'd never join another hardcore band after Saetia, so he's probably been pretty bored for a while. He'll probably be done for good after the next record.
deadohiosky9
11-24-2005, 11:57 PM
I don't think he's bored. If he was bored he would leave Hot Cross and try to make some money instead of running around playing shows and wasting gas.
I don't think he's bored. If he was bored he would leave Hot Cross and try to make some money instead of running around playing shows and wasting gas.
Then there would be riots and he'd be assassinated. I'd rather be bored than dead.
Actually he probably is bored but feels he still has something to offer before giving up. Just what I think.
