^ that was extremely stupid.
Being on a popular label doesn't make a band suck. Bands can be just as good without being DIY.
Yes but that isn't the point.
The point of hardcore is basically DIY, and that's why I'm in hardcore.

Hardcore was about making music the way that you wanted and DIY was something that they took from punk. Dude just because a band isn't underground doesn't mean you shouldn't like them, some of these bands deserve to be out of the underground (there is a reason some bands are popular and not all of them sold their souls.)

Apparently there's a video called the Zen of Screaming that teaches how to scream without hurting your vocal chords. I know a guy who used it and ended up sounding just like the guy from Shai Hulud, which is perfect because his band is a Shai Hulud rip off. Furthermore, I don't think you should ever have someone teach you how to scream. The point of screaming is letting out unbridled emotion and stuff right? Don't you think that only you can dictate how the scream comes out?

I know a guy who used it and ended up sounding just like the guy from Shai Hulud, which is perfect because his band is a Shai Hulud rip off. Furthermore, I don't think you should ever have someone teach you how to scream. The point of screaming is letting out unbridled emotion and stuff right? Don't you think that only you can dictate how the scream comes out?

Apparently there's a video called the Zen of Screaming that teaches how to scream without hurting your vocal chords. I know a guy who used it and ended up sounding just like the guy from Shai Hulud, which is perfect because his band is a Shai Hulud rip off. Furthermore, I don't think you should ever have someone teach you how to scream. The point of screaming is letting out unbridled emotion and stuff right? I've seen it for sale at a bunch of shows. It actually works?
It depends on what style of music you trying to do. For emo, of course being taught would basically go against what emo is about. But I may pick up that video because I am going for either a black metal or a metalcore sound, and could use some instruction other than Merkaba-1's vocal thread.
