You are stupid.
TMV is melodic at times, Frances the Mute has alot more melody incomparsion to Deloused in The Comatorium. But they are both pretty standard in terms of bits just going crazy.
Also, if you are planning on tripping I wouldn't recommend TMV it would probably end up as a bad one. Maybe try something like Jaga Jazzist if you want something that is pretty similar to TMV but more on the brighter side.

The drumming throughout "Roulette Dares {The Haunt of)" is a 50-50 mix between jazz and post-hardcore. It sounds like Trophy Scars a lot on that. You realize that every time you say there's no hardcore I'll find another example because I'll be looking for it and it exists.

I never called them a post-hardcore band. That was that retarded n00b. I am merely responding to your comment that there is no "core" in their music. Or maybe that was Wow. Same thing. There is core in their music. A small amount but significant in modeling their sound. It gives them that edge and intensity that most "psychedelic" bands are too stoned out to have.

They probably hand wrote the lyrics themselves. That's the only thing that I could think of... either that or they sown something together and the lyrics are on that. My guess would be the first.

refused are pretty much untouchable.
The only reason they're untouchable is because of this kind of empty hype around the "scene" and the fact that "New Noise" was an MTV2 anthem. Refused is good but no where near the best. The Shape of Punk to Come is an original and unique album but one of the reasons it's considered monumental is people fell for the bombastic liner notes. It made the album grander than it really was. Solid album, but not as revolutionary as some people say. Jazz and electronics have been mixed into heavy music long before Refused (Cynic) so I don't see how their doing that makes them so original.

I did my 12th grade honors essay on the history of emotional hardcore. I had an upper limit of ten pages though, and there were several waves of bands I had to leave out. San Diego artcore got ignored, as well chicago post-emo, and the late 90's northeast screamo boom. I kinda want to go back to it now, cause it was more than 2 years back, and the actual writing took place in one night.

07-15-2005, 01:48 PM
In a music theory class we had to write our own song I chose to do a metalcore song but instead of actually trying I used the formula most metalcore bands use (verse chorus verse2 chorus breakdown chorus until end) and had my friends band play it (extra credit if we recorded it) and got a 104 on the project. My teacher said it showed real musical depth and insightful lyrics into a creative genre of music. The lyrics were all like "oooh im depressed and want to kill myself" etc.

Artcore Bands
Heroin
Antioch Arrow
Swing Kids
Angel Hair (originally from Colorado)
Clikatat Ikatowi (maybe misspelled)
The Locust (arguably more of a grind band)
Chicago Post-Emo
Friction-(Bob Nanna's first band that I'm aware of)
Cap'n Jazz- (probably the best bridge I can think of between tight, poppy indie-emo and a lot of the aforementioned artcore bands)
Braid-(Pretty widely considered as the commercial, if not artistic apex of Chicago Post-Emo, Hey Mercedes doesn't really count in terms of being post-emo given the extent to which they lost a lot of the math rock influence that made braid so intriguing.)
Promise Ring (I consider them a poppier extension of the sound, even though they were based in Wisconsin, particularly given that Davey was in Cap'n Jazz and has a similiar lyrical approach to both Tim and Bob, especially in terms of extending word games and puns into whole lines or concepts to build a song around.)
Sky Corvair- Bob NAnna and Tim Kinsella both sang in this one.
Sweep the Leg Johnny (arguably a Jazz fusion project, but very similiar in aesthetic and approach to a lot of the others)
American Football- maybe a reach, it certainly is more guitar based than a lot of other later Kinsella projects
Make Believe- One of my favorite current bands.

Clarisse gets killed by the government, Montag decides to plant books in firemens houses with the help of Faber, Beatty comes to get Montag because his wife and his wifes friends report that he has books, Montag torches Beatty with a flame thrower, Montag starts running from the mechanical hound, he gets to the river and the hound loses the scent, so the TV people show the hound killing an innocent guy so they don't look bad. Then Montag meets a bunch of professors and scholar hobos who memorize books and then destroy them, so they can rewrite them in a new world. The world builds itself up and destroys it self. That's essentially it. Good book.
