... Well, atleast it's great in my mind.

What about we start using the "Rate this thread" feature, for rating the album it's about?
It would be a nice way of getting others opinions. And it would make it alot easier to see wich albums are good, without having to read all the threads.
For example, if I wanted to buy a new rock album, i'd just sort alphabetically, go to r for rock, and look for 5 stared threads!

I could just post (Genre) Band - Album

and in the thread write "OMGSPAM" and rate it 5 stars.

That's not the point of this forum.

Besides, as stated in the Alter Bridge thread, you pretty much have to state why you're rating the album as you are. You can't just blindly rate it

This isn't meant for the reviewer. The thread is for the review. The rating thing is to figure out what OTHER people think of the album.. So you can get the general gist of public opinion.. Instead of the reviewers, (most likely) biased opinion.

It's not supposed to discourage anything!.. It's not taking away from anything.. It's just a little extra thing to make this forum a little better

It could be easily abused, but most likely not enough to make a major dent on the rating.

i think it's a good idea, but alot of noobs might get confused between rating the CD and rating the review of the CD.

all the metal heads will go rate all the pop-punk cds 1/5, and all the pop-punkers will go rate all the metal cds 1/5. its a good idea, but it wont work.

That's not true. If you look at the replies in this forum, very little people care to reply to cd's they haven't listened to yet.. I personally think this forum is "mature" enough to do this.

But if it is a simple matter of clicking a rate button I think you will find the idea sic posted happens. I think leave reviews as they are.

Well there's nothing stopping people rating threads. I won't personally be doing it because I prefer reading through the threads, though. Plus I think a page full of those little stars would get really annoying.

People are so touchy in this thread.

Go ahead and do it if you want, but I don't think it will be made a rule or catch on like crazy.
