this is pretty good! great for a live recording! the vocals could do with some work and I couldn't hear the drums clearly but overall thumbs up! great riffs!

I encourage people telling me what they honestly think but please, if you're going to critisize I'd appreciate more than just a slanderous comment. tell me why you don't like it.

The chord progression rubbed me the wrong way. There was a wrong sounding note in there, the bass player played it every time around.
The singing...oh man!
I've heard dog barks that had more tone than your singer!
I know it's hard to get a good singer, but keep looking.
Pretty good recording for live stuff.
Too bad the song stinks. IMHO ;)
This was for the "looks like a tourist" song

try one of the other ones, they're all pretty different.
reptile slower
Monsters in airplanes, fast and furious
lung gunk Fast/pounding
thanks for the feedback, we've worked on the vocals (that recording was from 5 months ago when we where only 5 months old) but as you say it's hard to find a good singer, we've been working on him!

Not my cup of tea just the high end guitar riff.. the bass riff could do more than just follow the guitar.. the guitar riff (rythm) i didnt like and the singing Oh God :upset: sorry dude it gets a thumbs down.

Hey dude, I thought the music was neat.
I don't really like the singer's voice, but different strokes for different folks.
The bass is kind of a put off only because it follows the guitar. Is it a new bass player?
Recording sounds good for being live.
Overall:
I like the music.
I don't like the singer's voice but just because I don't like it doesn't mean that it's bad.
I thought the higher tempos for some chorus parts seemed out of place.
I'd like to hear studio versions.
BTW, I listened to most of each song.

yea. the main singer and the bass player are one. as I said before we where a very young band when the recording was made (5 months) he was new to doing both at once!
I've heard the comment about the bass following the guitar, I don't realy agree with it, I think the guitar follows the bass, it's a bit hard to tell because we've got 2 lead guitars and no 'rythm' as such.
I wasn't sure how we'd go down here, A lot of the stuff I've listened to has been pretty standard and unoriginal. I like to think we're pretty original and 'new' (but I s'pose everyone thinks that of themselves!)
thanks for the feedback!

I listened to reptile and I think it sounds pretty good...I think the vocals would turn out better in a studio situation....but I also do think they need a little work....which isn't really saying anything bad...everyone needs work I think. I know my vocals need work..but you gotta start somewhere...So good job...
could you return the favor and check out my song please? http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4447010&posted=1#post4447010

it rocks. your critics just like their music prepackaged and commercial. they'd all like Britney if they could only admit it to their friends without copping **** for it.

are you recording live? what are you recording on?
after reading that your bass player is also the singer it explains why he shadows the guitar. i thought in whole it was ok, you need to tightn up a bit, and have your bass player practice using different runs while singing

It's close mic to a 24 channel pro desk (complete with engineer) to a 24 track hdd recorder to a mate's recording studio. live at a concert called messfest.
this recording is about 5 months old when we where a fledgling band, we've tightened up a considerable amount since, including the singer/bass, we'll be recording our first album in the next 6 months i hope, this is the best recording I have of us so it's what I put up.

Monsters In Airplanes is pretty neat.
The other ones aren't loading for me though, my computer is slow tonight.
I thought what I heard was alright really, I think a lot of people on here aren't used to hearing how Australian accents/voices tend to sound.

Thanks guys for you support! It's great to get some positive feedback!!
We did a close mic recording, a mic on each drum (toms, BD, snare, and hihats) sadly we didn't use overheads for the crash/ride cymbals. a mic for each guitar amp, and DI for Bass, crowd mics (for ambient sound and crowd noise) and of course vocal mics. 13/14 mics in total if I remember correctly. all sent to a professional live desk where it was mixed by a soundy. each mic/channel was then sent to a 24track Hdd recording unit, then we took it to a studio and mixed it down to what you heard.
The messfest is an annual (we hope to make it 2-3 times a year) concert held in hobart started by some members of target practice, it's been running for a few years now. this year we had 10 bands, a CD and DVD with 1 or2 songs from each band that played will be coming out soon. all the profit from the concert and the CD/DVD has/will go to (this year) a non profit organisation called Holyoake. If anyone wants to order a cd, or contact me for any reason you can email me at:

I think there is potential, but the singer needs to be less self concious with his voice, and you have to get the grooves a little groovier...

They're all pretty good, singing is a bit iffy though.
I dunno, but theres something about it thats kinda boring though.
