Ok, then where does your kangaroo stay, right next to your pet koala bear? (Which of coarse lives in your grass hut.)
-sorry, I couldnt resist chipping in.
I park my kangaroo next to the emu I ride to work and uni.
Australians don't keep Koala Bears as pets, those things are ****ing psychotic.

Sorry, linguistical differences. Electricity = power.
Well, since we White Australians oppress the native aborigines, I simply have 6 of them turning a large wheel which drives a steam engine underneath my hut.

I'm not surprised!
Ginger's are a rare and elusive species, native to Scotland. Their survival to this day is a wonder as they are preyed upon by Blondes, Browns and even Blacks. Ginger's tend to be scavengers, waiting for others to show charcteristic traits before adopting them for themselves and throughly exhausting them. Truely a wonderous creature.

Seriously be warned, floating trems can be the most annoying things. Ever. It depends. My JS100 has one, but it's an innovative design that makes changing strings way less of a pain. It's just not intonated properly at the moment, and there's an extreme shortage of guitar techs around me in Connecticut, despite the presence of the Guitar Center nearby: once I find one, that guitar will be SO much fun to play. Blues licks are indeed problematic though. Unison bends are impossible.

A floating trem has cavity in the body like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v282/atouchofgenius/DSCF0014.jpg) so that you can manipultae the bar up and down. and fixed trem doesn't have the cavity so it can only be mainpulated one way.
A floating trems tuning, however, relies upon the tension of all the strings so it is a pain in the as to set up.

I love floyd roses, but setting them up is possibly the most painful experience on the planet.
Ok, ill try it out some more then. Whats the difference between a floating and a fixed?
Floating means you can pull up on the bar to raise the pitch of the notes in addition to lowering it. Floyd Rose setups, in addition, are almost universally reviled throughout the guitar community due to the near impossibility of changing strings and keeping the bar setup in tune. My floating trem is a much better design than the Floyd Rose. This is why Jacksons, who excusively liscense Floyd Rose bars, are worse in my mind than, say, Ibanez, who make their own floating locking tremolos. Floating trems are also very sensitive to pressure on the bar or the bridge, and the most annoying thing is a near-impossibility to play in-tune double-stop or unison-bend blues licks: since the bridge is so sensitively set up, the bridge depresses when you bend notes. If you're playing an unbent note at the same time, as in:
B--15------
G--14b16--
your D note on the B string will sound out of tune due to the bridge depressing. But it's a minor and, in-concert at least, barely noticeable problem. Locking bars are very versatile and great for tricks. The trick as the purchaser is finding a bar that won't leave you pulling your hair out.
Oh, and change strings one at a time with floating bars to keep the tension stable. Don't break strings in concert. That's all.

Why are they so hard to change strings on?
The bridge is kept level and the guitar in tuen by the tension of the other strings. Once you take a string off, the tension it was putting on the bridge is released and so it compensates thus messing up your tuning.

01-31-2005, 01:26 PM
Why are they so hard to change strings on?
Well it isn't that bad, being mainly a drummer i'm just lazy when it comes to guitar stuff :) You just have to get the strings through the tremolo and take off the locking nut to get them under. You often have to reset your intonation as well. I have seen some newer design that look much better and easier to work with than the ones from even a few years ago.
So far only one person has commented on my status. I think most of the idiot n00bs don't understand it's significance. I know they'd all blow up if they knew what it was.

I understand your status. And otherwise, I would blow up, but since I realize you're only doing it to see how much controversy you can stir up in the first place, I won't indulge you.
EDIT: Other than to say you're a terrible terrible person.
Why are they so hard to change strings on?
As I said, floating bars or locking bars are both very sensitive, and they require the tension of ALL the strings tuned to pitch in order to stay level. Break a string, and the bridge tilts back because a lot of tension was released by that string. This causes the five remaining strings to be pulled back tighter by the bridge, raising the pitch, and thus messing up your tuning. Which is why I said never break a string in concert if you don't have a guitar tech handy.

Hey, we're not nerds!
Anyway, what aspect of WWII do you find most interesting? I'm partial to the European theaters myself, the Nazis will always make the most effective villians in any story you could possibly tell. There's just no one worse.
I also happen to love WWII-oriented first-person shooters. Call of Duty is my latest conquest, although the **** multiplayer has a habit of instantly "unexpectedly quitting" in the boot-up stages of the program. Stupid Mac version.

The efficiency that the Nazi war machine operated with. I mean, take out the genocide stuff and those guys would be awesome. They don't fu.ck around. Every little last detail was planned out before the war even started... but I better not get going.
Also, war propaganda is cool/funny/scary

I always thought that if you take out the genocide and the evilness, the general public would also come to realize that the Germans had by far the coolest uniforms of any country with the possible exception of post-1943 USSR during the war. There's a reason movies love that uniform. It evokes all the evil efficiency and grandeur the Nazis had.
Just to clarify to those of us that will no doubt be viewing this conversation with mild apprehension, I assure you Dargon and I (well at least me) are definitely not Nazis.
In addition, there's a thread in Politics about how genocides after the Holocaust are not being paid attention to, and I wrote a really thoughtful post that no one responded to. :( I would appreciate a look. It's title is "1945: we said never again, but again keeps coming." something like that.
