Cheers on the 400th Bobo :chug: And coldies are the only way to go since I missed the beer talk, I'm having one right now.
Also, does anyone know if this is the correct name for Fast_Fingers (the guy with the dancing avatar), because I've been trying to track him down over the last couple of days and I thought I saw him in punk, but that guy had a different avater and was named fastfingers. I'm trying to get a few songs from him, do if anyone can help it would be nice.
His AIM is Viking Vs Pirate if that helps.

Ive been listen to Yes - 90125, but the last 5 tracks are scratched incredibly bad, and i already returned it to my friend after putting it on the comp. Id get the rest online, but that would take about an hour on this piece of ****.

There is a big record store in downtown Portland here, but they don't have that much foriegn metal. And when they do have good stuff, it is like 20 - 25 dollars for an album.
Hell, they don't even have any Agalloch or Velvet Cacoon, which are local bands that made it to a fairly big record labels.

But I find it funny, the pit and the rats included seem to think it's their own personal site to spam on with mostly pointless crap.
The majority of them do not play a insturment, or participate in other forums other then the one where they can pretty much spam pointless stuff all day long.
So why don't they all make their own forum and leave, because they do nothing for this forum for the most part.
So whats the point of being at a musicians forum, when you participate in nothing musicial at all?
Sorry to bring this all back up but:
I'm one of the top 15 reviewers on the site, I post in here from time to time, politics from time to time, and the other sports/games forums from time to time. I play guitar and I visit the Guitar forum as well, although usually not to post. I also critique and contibute to the Song & Lyrics forum.
So please refrain from saying I do nothing for this site in the future. You guys have a new brand of elitism if you think you're better simply because your forum of choice is R&M, so the rest of you can stop being so condescending of the people who post in the Pit until you're not like that yourselves.

I sometimes wonder how many of the star-holders in the pit did it by a combination of rep-whoring and semi-clever insults, because I never see anything intelligent enough coming from any of them that would make them worthy of them from that angle.

Meh, I'm only that way when I'm in the Pit. It kind of dies when I go to other forums. I only use post-count as a way to discern a noob from everyone else. If they have a postcount above 500 I usually leave them alone. Other than that I see it as no criteria for respect. I post relatively little, for instance, and so I have far fewer posts than people that joined up at the same time as me, like Riva, and some even that came a bit after me, like zepfan. But I don't think that increases or decreases the worth of my posts. I try to be fair about that, and the star-holders in the Pit don't really get much of my respect anyway. Time on the site is something I will generally respect regardless.

rep points are so pointless. i occasionally rep people for a good post, but it seems like in the course of 1 week, twice as many users had stars. A few days ago, i posted about 40 times and got 100 rep points with some good threads, mostly on ABITW tone settings, but i still have less then 300 points

I have to drive about 50 miles to get to this record store. I seriously live in the mountains, in a forest, that is a good 45-50 miles away from Portland. So ya, its not like its a 10 minute drive heh.
I live in a big city, so there are plenty of cd stores, but for metal, I have to travel.

After you get stars, rep is pointless. I try to get more of it to be able to give people who I like stars faster. Also make people who I dislike never have stars. That's about it.

No worries, man. I've seen you around and I know that you're really helpful. I believe that you've earned your stars. Honestly, chill out a little bit. I don't think I said "especially that Humor99 *******. He's a stupid dick that is a rep-monger who deserves nothing resembling a star." I said "some" star-holders were not good-example-setters. Surely you understand that idiocy levels are really high in the Pit, and that's all I'm really complaining about.

There are many good posters in the Pit, there are many bad posters. The ones who have the stars are typically the more intelligent of the bunch.

Well, I also think something that drives some people like him from the pit is when some one posts something reasonable and they get flamed for it by like Zakath and the likes. IE: being called a faggot and such just because he/they doesn't like what you say.

Agreed, that's the biggest thing that turns me off about the Pit. The Pit totally destroyed CreepingBlack, for instance, who when he showed up in R+M was reasonably ok. He had a problem with flying off the handle and an inability to take insults/criticisms in stride, which I gather is what irked so many Pit-goers, but nevertheless he was constantly flamed and constantly reviled for "stupid threads" and he couldn't take it. I really don't think he deserved it. That's the kind of thing I hate to see: when someone is innocently trying to be reasonable or at least apologize for being a dick previously, and then gets the mick taken out of him by every single thread-hopper that sees it. And I especially hate it when people call other people "Faggots." That's just me though.
EDIT: I admit I do not know the whole story about CreepingBlack. If anyone felt like they wanted to explain it, that would be fine: I just saw him when he commited his little e-suicide and decided to look into it a little bit...the limited stuff that I found sort of led me that above conclusion, in addition to my own personal experience.

He had his moments of good posting, but in general, when he started threads he came off as antagonizing and scornful in ways that upset people. He'd make threads that were borderline insulting in some ways, but that was more toward the end of his posting, so maybe he just had enough of the criticism.
I guess taking criticism is one of the big things you need to be able to do for the Pit. I used to get flamed to hell and back because I was a bit antagonizing myself. Eventually people lay off of you once they see you can contribute something worthwhile. Many times people who get criticized never go that extra step to prove they are worth something and they can't take the crits so they leave.

Humor, the other thing you have to realize is that for many people, especially n00bs, it is easy to look in the pit and believe that most of them are morons and don't do anything for the site because they don't know better and they are uninformed. For instance, I know I used to think most of the pit posters weren't great contributors, but I have since gathered that some are, so just realize that if you are only posting in the pit and spamming, it is easy to make a misjudgement. :)

Hey Joe, this may seem a silly question, but what anime stuff are you into watching? My girlfriend just turned me on to this show Escaflowne, and it's amazing. I can't stop watching it.

That was meant to be Tallgeese 3 from Endless Waltz, but it looked to blurry. So now we have miliardo peacecraft.
My faverouite in mecha anime, Gundam Wing/Seed/X/Mobile Suit Gundam, Blue Gender and of course Evangelion. There all good for big robots, but if you like fighting, Naruto is amazing. I think its kick-***.

Trigun is also another awesome anime people should check out. And no, not the American version, because it has horrible voice acting.
Tenjou Tenge is another good anime based around martial arts as well.
Full Metal Alchemist is another great anime, but avoid it when you see it on Cartoon Network, it has horrible voice acting with english dubs.
Just try and find it on the net and dl them.
